  1. Why is Middlesboro rated higher in the 13th than Corbin and Clay, but not listed in the Mtn 10?
  2. When will the story be on the web? Nothing as of yet.
  3. I agree that records can be deceiving, but Lawerence County got pounded 11-1 by a very mediocre Whitley County team.
  4. Very good effort both on the mound, and at the plate, by Senior Ryan Sams, as well as a good team effort defensively. NL has been playing some pretty good baseball of late. Good Luck tonight vs/ Clay County.
  5. I have no clue, and keep in mind that what I've heard is not necessarily correct, it's just what I've "heard".
  6. I heard that Irwin was taking an OC job for a large high school in Alabama. This sounds like an excellent opportunity for him. He's got a very sharp offensive mind, and could use this to springboard his career. Good Luck to him, and to SL in the hiring of a good replacement. My guess is that DC Jim Brown would be the front runner.
  7. This was a great trip for the Jaguars, they went 3-1, and beat some very good teams. Their only loss, to Ashland, was a 9 inning heartbreaker. The quality of teams at Cocoa is much better than what we've seen in the past at Ft.Walton. Hopefully this can propel them to another good season.
  8. Actually NL only put 2 on the starting pitcher. The balance were on a guy that was brought in in the 6th.
  9. I don't know the name of Boyd's pitcher, but I do know that he was hitting 90+ on the gun early on. Great comeback by the Jags in the 7th inning. As MT said, a great effort by NL senior pitcher, Ryan Howell.
  10. I'll be there, with NL's baseball team.
  11. Already a thread on this, can the mods merge?
  12. How's Branscum coming along? Has he picked up any velocity since last season? Any word on what schools are interested in him? Also - Keep us popsted on what Depere's got. NL plays them on Wednesday.
  13. Good game for the Jags, especially condsidering it was their first game, and had no scrimmages. Nice effort by NL's Sean Evans on the mound, going all 7 innings, and getting the win. Good defense for both teams, but NL had the timely hitting, and played "small ball" as well, laying down a few bunts. NL catcher Brice Hicks had a couple of hits, as did 3rd baseman Chris Maggard.
  14. Brace yourself for a JOLT, from what I've been told...He's not playing.
  15. Yes I do know. My source is much more reliable than yours. My source is Conway.
  16. Whoever you heard it from is LYING. Conway is staying at NL. I'm pretty sure I know where the rumors started, however. :irked:
  17. Unbelievable that GRC's Preston Knowles is not on this list. IMO, he's one of the top guards in the state - right up there with Slaughter, Mack, & Dunaway. Congrats to Walt Allen and his SL teammates on their recognition!
  18. Leatherneck - I don't know if you're trying to, but you are coming off pretty elitist. This class is probably not needed at Highlands, but please understand that the rest of KY is not a lot like Ft. Thomas. I'm afraid that the homelife of kids in and around Ft. Thomas may be substantially different than that of some kids from areas out and about in rural Kentucky. Believe it or not, there are kids that DO have to walk home after football practice (several miles). I've witnessed it myself, and since, rides have been arranged for them. There is no way these kids could participate in after school weightlifting. Since you practice law for a living, it should be relatively easy for you to come up with a valid argument why these kids should not be lifting weights and doing conditioning in PE class vs/ playing ping-pong, badminton, or dodgeball. You've been told several times that the Advanced PE classes are not substitued for "Core" curriculum, but for other PE classes and electives. I also know of kids who "stay in school" only for athletics. If it wasn't for athletics, they would drop out tomorrow. Thank goodness for athletics, and having to make grades, it keeps a lot of kids in school.
  19. Whether you look at the Senior year only, or entire career, it makes no difference to me. If Mr. Basketball is the award for "Best Senior Basketball Player in the State of Kentucky" I would have to vote for Slaughter. If it is for the Senior that is a good player and great kid, getting the absolute most out of the ability that God gave him, with excellent sportsmanship - I'd have to vote for Walt Allen. Walt may be the best kid playing basketball in KY, but I don't believe he's the best basketball player. JMO But with that being said...I sure hope that he wins it!
  20. My son got the same invite last week, and he's a Senior to be (current Junior). It appears to be pretty pricey, but I bet it would be a fun experience.
  21. Are you kidding? I'm pretty sure that Corbin lost a BUNCH, and Clay County was as bad as I've ever seen them last season. Maybe you know something that I don't, do they have some young kids that will be stepping up in a major way?
  22. I voted "NO". At this time there are 16 "YES" votes. A little shocked at this many for classing it. Who voted "yes" and why?
