Miss Basketball
Hope Brown had a fantastic game tonight against E'town in the 5th Region Championship game. North Hardin wins it 57-55. Go Lady Trojans!

Fairview 58 Rowan 54
Don't know about Bath Co., but let's give Fairview a little credit. After all, look how well they played Elliott Co. Barker can put the ball in the hole and Hall, the freshman, is really coming on.

Top 5 coaches nationally...
Kentucky does not require a coach in any sport to be a teacher even though some principals strongly disagreed with the decision.

"The Shot": 25 years later...
I remember it well. I was seated in the end zone about four rows up. Oddly enough, North Hardin had already beat Laurel County in the LIT by about 10 points earlier in the year. NH Coach, Ron Bevars, set up the same exact play in the final seconds of regulation in the state championship game as he did in the LIT championship game, not expecting Andrews' "Hail, Mary" shot to go in - but it did this time. It was like an eternity watching that ball head for the basket with the red light on. There are still NH fans today who have the game on VHS and believe that the basket should not have counted. Either way, it was an unforgettable moment in Kentucky high school basketball. North Hardin had an unbelievable team in '82, but its '81 team was even better. Three of its starting five went Div 1: James Jeter, UL; Robbie Valentine, UL; and Brett Burrow, Vandy. And the other players went to reputable Div II schools. NH's record for '81-'82 was 37 wins and only 3 losses - the maximum games that could have been possibly played when you account for the state tournament games. The two losses during the season occurred when its 6'11" center, Brett Burrow, was out sick. NH has not seen that kind of excitement in basketball since then. Its gym was always filled to capacity, and then some, plus closed-circuit tv provided for the overflow crowd in the cafeteria for home games. And many times on the road, North had more fans than the home team in the bleachers. Maybe one day we'll return to the "glory days!"

Elizabethtown Football Colors?
EHS is my alma mater and our colors are indeed NW purple and Old gold; however, the manufacturers of uniforms and spirit attire often use a deep navy.

AAU Summer Basketball
Was this Chase or Chad Jackson? I thought Euton and Chad Jackson played for the Patriots team near Cincinnati. Are they playing on both teams this year? Jackson really impressed me last year at KBA. They could really help any team they played on.

Top Boys Head Coaches?
Bevars has been at North Hardin 25+ years and has had his pick of athletes. For a few of those years this school and Central Hardin were the two largest high schools in Kentucky. One would think with that kind of talent pool, it'd be fairly easy to dominate in basketball. In the early 80's he had three Div. I players on the same team with the other two players going Div. II...and still couldn't win a state championship. I'd think the criteria for a very good coach would be to develop players, teach the game, and then know how to strategize to win games. Even mediocre coaches can have winning seasons if they have the right players.

Girls Ky All Star Try Out List
Arnika Brown and Brandi Rayburn really made quite a showing at Warren Central. Good luck in making the team!

Hats off to Coach Euton!
I understand that she played volleyball and was a cheerleader in high school in southern Ohio.

Hats off to Coach Euton!
Sorry. I was just told that she also worked in the Ashland Independent School System's Central Office.

Hats off to Coach Euton!
I believe she was a hairdresser.

Looking for Freshman AAU tournaments.
Do you have a name and number to call?

POY in each region
I noticed Coach Hall's banner was taken down in Rose Hill's gym the last time I attended a game. Was it relocated?

Stuart Miller to Louisville
Keep those great, in-state, high school players coming!

John Hardin vs. South Laurel Predictions
I'm not comparing KOB to the State Tournament. But playing your local foe five miles down the road who happens to be rated #1 in the state five times in one season...and one of those times happens to be for the KOB title...shows that JH has the fortitude to play in stressful situations. Plus, being ranked #6 yourself in the state, or at least in the top ten all season, speaks for itself.

John Hardin vs. South Laurel Predictions
Not at all. Some previous posters were insinuating that John Hardin didn't have the experience of playing before large crowds and South Laurel did because they had played in the state tournament before. I just don't think that Rupp Arena will intimidate them.

John Hardin vs. South Laurel Predictions
Don't overlook John Hardin. St. X did in the football playoffs and it almost cost X a state championship. And don't forget it was John Hardin versus E'town for King of the Bluegrass Title. JH's Brandon Bland is red hot now - scoring 31 points against E'town in the 5th Region Championship overtime game. I wouldn't call this an inexperienced team who can't take the pressure. Go Dogs!

Rick Pitino camp
I have only been to the regular camp and it was outstanding. Well-run, competent instructors, disciplined - everything started and ended on time! Pitino and the UL b-ball players were actively involved in the entire day. Kids at all skill levels attended from all over the country, Alaska and Canada. Plus, the food was good!

Best Place To Watch A Game
One of the most exciting places to watch KY high school basketball has to be the Reed Conder Gym at Marshall County - home of the famous HoopFest. It seats 6000; has a waiting list for the 964 chair seats which have been sold out since the gym opened in 1980 (one of my family members owns one). Their clock-score keeper hasn't missed a Marshall County home game since 1975. That's loyalty!

Top 25 Players in the last past 25 years(1980-2005) in your region??
I'd have to say the '81 North Hardin team. Three of its starters went Division I: James Jeter (UL); Robbie Valentine (UL); Brett Burrow, 6'11 center (Vanderbilt); they were No. 1 in the state and jockeyed with Bryan Station the next year for the #1 spot; they went 37-3 and only lost the state championship title in '82 by a freak, Hail Mary shot by Laurel County with no time on the clock.

AAAA Region 2 Final : X @ John Hardin
Thread #70 had Ring Road confused with Joe Prather (Hwy 313), I believe. The easiest way to get to John Hardin High School is to go south on I-65; take Hwy 313 exit (about a mile past Lebanon Junction exit) toward Radcliff; make a left at the intersection of 31-W and 313 and travel about 3 miles south toward E-town. Turn right onto Jenkins Rd. at the traffic light and the high school will be on your right just past New Highland Elementary and Bluegrass Middle School. As far as eateries, continue south on 31-W toward E-town about 1-2 miles. You'll find Rafferty's, O'Charley's, Red Lobster, Tumbleweed, Bob Evans, Fergie's, etc., plus many fast food restaurants. Hope this helps.
