This would be a good Football game to see between these two schools.

I dont think LC will be back in the 16th. The 15th has 16 teams why not realign the 15th region with Four 4 team districts.

I would say mild upset wtih JC being # 2 team in the 15th region but LC has been Hot in the month of Feb.

The Fleming County game was awesome and most of the LC faithful had done left the game. I do remember another Hook and Latteral play but it wasnt against Newport like someone had mentioned in this thread. It was against Holmes in the ComAir Bowl at Ryle High School. Parker caught the ball around the 10-15 yard line then pitched it to Meadows who took it in for the win.

I dont remember a hook and lateral play in that game by LC, but I could be wrong. I do remember LC had the ball inside their own 10 and Nick Meadows went right on a handoff and got hit several times but didnt fall down and then broke loose for a huge gain down inside Breathitt's 20. LC recovered an onside kick in the second half that sent the Dawg Pound crazy. I think those two plays helped LC win. Also the interception in the 4th quarter helped too. Stick1 mentioned Michael West and Dontae Wright, both were Freshman and I seem to remember Dontae playing some in the secondary. I do remember someone else playing several plays besides BJ Nelson who was a starter at LB all season. That was one of the Largest crowds I had ever seen at LCHS and I remember seeing kids from local schools there. I remember seeing Paintsville, Johnson Central, Sheldon Clark, Raceland, Boyd Co., Ashland school jackets in the crowd and I am sure there was more. IMO greatest game ever in Eastern Kentucky.

What about WR - Gerad Parker from Lawrence County. I know HHS won by like 40 but the Birds could not contain him along with RB - Michael West. Your thoughts???

Coty Roberts will be playing one more as a senior in the Border Bowl Championship game between players from Eastern Kentucky against Eastern Tennessee. This is the first ever game. Kickoff was today 1/12/08 at 1pm. Coty Roberts Roster for both teams

He was Head Coach of Louisa Middle School and was an assistant on LCHS staff.

How did a team from Florida get into this tourney? Is there a connection to the Ashland program? I think the Ashland tournament is one of the greatest High School tourney's there is. I remember going to them even though I am from Lawrence County. I remember seeing Ervin Stepp scoring 50+ points, Richie Farmer play as a 8th grader I believe.

New Jersey sends only 8 teams to the playoffs except for the Group I non-public and only 3 teams make with the #1 seed with an bye. Also there is only about 20 schools in each group. Agreed, it will not hurt attendance. Ohio had the games on Sportstime Ohio through Time Warner and I would say probably One Million viewers watched those games and attendance didn't seem affected.

I remember that game very well as I do all of the LC-Raceland games when Goldsmith coached. Another one I remember was : Raceland 3 LC 0

People in Louisa like the belly not because of Chuke. Billy ran it some with the Veer. It is something that has been around since the 80's at LCHS. It is what the coaches at the feeder level run with their teams because that is what they know. Then this year you change the whole offense and expecting it to be a powerhouse. With not very big lineman the belly and veer offense's best suit LC and alot of teams across the state. To be able to run a spread offense you need speed and quickness and teach it from your feeder level up before they get to high school. So the young Dawgs can create their own identity by doing what they already know. What we need is a coach that can come in and build on that. Whoever that may be.

I think Chuke and several others should be considered. That way you can be sure the best was taken when the decision is made.

I think all 6 games this year were great. Of course ST. X was just total domination. But I think the Coldwater and Mooney game was one of the best High School games I have seen. Maria Stein for a D-V school is one of the best in the state. They beat the D-IV champion Coldwater 35-14 and Coldwater beat Mooney the #8 team in the nation by the USA Today. Big Walnut beats Licking Valley 17-10 with only 2 first downs and only having the ball a little over 15 minutes. Anderson jumps out to an early lead then holds off Louisville to win. And of course Newark Catholic leads 28-0 at the half and looks to blow out Hopewell-Loudon but it took a late interception in the endzone to seal the victory. Awesome weekend for Ohio High School Football.
