Your exactly right. They dont play TEAM ball. If they could start playin together, this team could be real dangerous and possibly contend for the regional title. However until they can do that they need to play as a TEAM.

I think everyone is forgetting about Matt Atkins of Newport. He has pitched for the Cats the last 3 yrs. I hope to see good things from this senior this year. Also i think the Beechwood boys will be in the mix and i cant remeber the kids name at NCC that will be pretty good to.

Matt Atkins at Newport had 10 extra points in a game which ties him for 3 in the state record book. He also had the school record of 58 in a game. I also think that punter Ryne Wilfong had a 71 yrd punt. Not sure of that. Also like above about JJ Hesch. Congrats to these Wildcats.

North Carolina landed them another good one which should fit in good with Hansborough, Green and the rest of the squad for next year.

Newport will replace on offense: Atkins-TE,PK Runion-Young-T Sizemore-Smith-G Thomas-Huston-WR Glenn-RB on Defense they will replace: Smith-Atkins(sometimes)-DE Young-DL(sometimes) Glenn-Huston-CB They have a few holes to fill but i think Coach Schlarman will get it done with the up coming freshman and returning Wildcats.

Agreed! :thumb: it was one heckuva season and ended the way we didnt want it to. But its over now and at least we can say Region 3 was the toughest in AA!

Congrats to Russell. Sure would have liked to have seen Newport in this game and bringing home the hardware but it wasnt that way. Well at least we were knocked out by the AA State Champs in OT by 1 pt.

I was wondering when the all district teams, and all conf teams will be name for each class, for this year. I know it is like A-AA on one team and AAA-AAAA on another one. Anyone know when?

As much as I would have loved to have seen Newport beat Russell so they could be in the state game i'm gonna have to pull for Russell. Bring the title back to Region 3 so everyone in the state knows where the best teams come from. Go RUSSELL!!!!!!

JJ Hesch from Newport will be another good one. He will be losing 2 WR's, TE, and a running back and almost the whole front 5 but he'll still be a good one.

I wanted to thank the seniors, for making this year a great year. I will miss them the most,as i seen them grow up together for years. I know i was disappointed when the season ended for them. I want them to keep there heads up and be proud to be part of a great family of NEWPORT WILDCATS!!!! Good Luck in the rest of the year and other sports that you take on. Newport and Lloyd can go either way. They both return alot. Should be a nice season finale in Newport. Both should go deep in the playoffs. Hopefully it runs through Newport this year.

Well i know you guys are not going to give my Newport Wildcats any love. So i am going to say i think they will have a shot at it. They have alot of starters back, and they have a new coaching and new game plan. I think they will have a shot if they step up and play this year. GO NEWPORT! :dancingpa
