  1. Examples???? I've seen a few one sided Brossart basketball games, and never seen them attempt to run up the score--Quite the opposite in fact (liberal substitutions, no pressing, excessive passing before taking a shot, etc,)??
  2. Interesting that you see NO Brossart supporters on here accusing Beechwood of running up the score?? The Mustangs and their supporters would have been up in arms if the Tigers had "laid down". They knew that competing against the likes of BW will take a long, long time (lots of programs still trying to do that after 40-50 years of having teams), but fortunately in the KY system there aren't five Beechwoods in the BB district. There are teams out there playing non competitive football after years and years of having a team, so let's cut the Mustangs some slack that they weren't competitive with the best team in their division in the state first tiem out. Not picking on anyone here but how would say Conner do vs. Trinity this year, or maybe a North Laurel against Highlands?? Patience!!!!
  3. "I heard that the Brossart score was off the Beechwood 8th grade and Cheerleaders. I said this would be ugly. It was the AD and his followers that made the jump to Varsity. It takes alot to start a Varsity Program and they were not using their heads." I imported UK FAN 59's quote from the update thread, because I thought it was tasteless enough to comment on!! First off, very insightful prediction on his part to say this would "be ugly"?? Obviously time will tell if the move to varisty was premature, but obviously he is closer to the BB programs than I, because I've never seen the "AD and his followers" in my time around the school?? I'd rather commend the coaches, players, supporters and administration at Brossart for trying the move to varsity competition, rather than spin their wheels for years playing a JV or Frosh schedule, and maybe succeeding in building nothing as some other programs have done?? They were realistic enough to know they would take their lumps, but I doubt they thought they'd be slammed for not competing with the #1 A team in the state in their 3rd game???? :irked:
  4. Any hint that the Beechies ran up the score is just not accurate. This side of starting their 2nd or 3rd string, there wasn't much they could do. On the plus side for the 'Stangs, they were trying hard to the bitter end, and despite the physical mismatches; never gave up!! They need to work on the fundamentals, especially blocking (staying with their blocks) and tackling (wrapping up, not just contact). This reflects the lack of experience most of these players had at the younger levels--It's really true that you build a program from the ground (elementary/middle school) up!! As several have said, it takes time to build a successful football program, and this is game three of Varsity competition for Brossart; and only their second year of existence?? Credit them for the decision to move to the varsity level, and play a district schedule in only their second year; as many new programs have waited years and years to make this move. Old Soda made some great points regarding numbers, and it will take numbers to make this (or any) program competitive. The success of BB's soccer program hasn't helped jump start the program either, as there's only so many athletes, especially at the smaller schools. No knock on the Beechies, but they don't have to deal with competition from a consistent top 5 soccer program for athletes?? BB will be fine, and I was very encouraged to watch these "pioneers" work hard in the face of extreme adversity; to help set the stage for those to come--Again my hat's off to them for their efforts, and hopefully they can be rewarded with that elusive victory soon!!!! :thumb:
  5. They will win their last four to make it a 4-8 season!!
  6. Congrats to Taft on persevering, and to the folks who are stepping up to help replace the uniforms; and shame on anyone who did this!!
  7. Congrats to the Raiders on a good road win!! Ryle looks like they are really putting it together at this early juncture of the season. Interesting game at Simon next week, and some winnable ones after that; before the season finales vs. Boone and then at Dixie. Camels should get a welcome tonic for their offense in Conner next week who's giving up a ton of points!! Keep working Camels, its a long season.
  8. Good win for Dayton in a war of "River Schools". Should give them the upper hand for second in the district.
  9. Sounds like a monster second half by the Birds. Did Dixie contribute with turnovers, or did Highlands just manhandle them? The Highlands train looks unstoppable at the moment--Not a good sign for the Blue Colonels next week!!
  10. Interesting, but sounds like a minor adjustment at best. Many would argue that 120-130 schools out of 270-280 (hoops??) is enough to be considered an "A" champion in a six "A" class football state??
  11. 7--Madison Central 5--Russell County 3--Lloyd Memorial 2--Frankfort 1--Wayne County TB--Madison Central
  12. I can't imagine Brossart's Coach Schabell is leaving to go to St, Pats??
  13. That would be surprizing, as they have resisted changes in the past and stayed with the 425 and under limit for grades 10-12?? This results in about 120-125 eligible schools, which I think is about 40-45% of the BBall playing schools in KY. That should be enough to qualify for a "small school tourney" IMO, but its their tourney, and some areas struggle to get a true regional contest.
  14. Shocking that you two agree?? For any posts on the Mustangs, you may want to look at a BBHS thread, like the BW-BB prediction thread. Good to see I've got some "followers" out there!!
  15. 7--Highlands 5--Dayton 3--Trimble County 2--Lloyd Memorial 1--Ryle TB--Highlands
  16. Some friends of mine, connected to U of L say the plans for this arena were held up a couple of times, and revised, due to negotiations with the NCAA regarding the hosting of regionals and potentialy a Final Four!! The "power-to-be" in the 'Ville wanted to make sure the new arena would comply with the criteria to host the "Big Ones"!!
  17. This may be the wrong place for this one, but I was wondering if anyine had results or a link to the Transy invitational this weekend? Thanks.
  18. APNW--Looks good as are your comments. New Cath could be a wild card and I don't think we've got an idea how good BW is yet? Agree with some others wide margin between #1 & #2, and CCH's brutal schedule will give them an unenviable record come late November. Still think Dixie will be up & down; and Ryle/Campbell will tell if there's a clear # 2 in the NKY big schools!!
  19. 7--Cincy St. X 5--Louisville St. X 3--John Hardin 2--Meade County 1--S. Oldham TB--Cincy St. X
  20. I really see this as close, and don't think Ryle is as good right now as Boone??
  21. Looks to be set up for a defensive battle to me, and I'm guessing it will be decided by key turnovers; as there would appear to be little margin for error on either side. I'm looking for the Camel "O" to show better than against Boone, as they are still getting used to their varsity roles, especially Kidwell. I'll expect this game on the NKY contest roster!! Pick-em!!
  22. They had to decide to go varsity this season, or reapply in several years; so they went ahead and made the move for this year. Their reward was Beechwood in their first district game, and a very up year for the "river schools" in their district. May be a rude introduction to varsity play, but they'll show up and compete as best they can!!
  23. Wonder what game that could be--A game of such importance to move this game?? Heard the same rumor, but I doubt it will happen??
