Actually eight seniors, but they were the five starters and top three subs. I'm guessing he's talking about Jacob Reiger, but he's only an incoming soph and has limited varsity experience, but a ton of upside. I'd expect Greg Stortz to be Brossart's top big man, but its too early to add any of the Mustangs to any "10th region top players list".

I think there is far more recruiting by parents than by HS coaches?? What I mean by that is its pretty common practice for parents to "move into a district", "send a kid to an out-of-district school", or find another way to steer their son or daughter to a top program in their sport of choice. I'm not naive enough to believe that the "R" word never goes on, but think there's far more "steering" of kids by parents than pure recruiting by coaches??

Coach Barre started the BW tradition that Coach Yeagle took to the next level before moving on to Cincy if I'm not mistaken?? They've been a force in class A for quite a while!!

I don't think in the next year or two, but I wouldn't be surprized in the future if the programs keep moving in opposite directions?? Still a pretty big spread between the two teams recently, but TMC is rebuilding in the right direction!!

I believe last year BBHS had about 180-185 boys (45 senior boys), so that would be pretty significant growth @ about 33%, but again I love the optimism!! I realize growth is predicted for southern Campbell County, but again those will be 2 year average numbers, and next year is already set. Agree on the TMC comments, especially with the diocesan pledge helping with tuition!!

Assuming that the next realignment comes for the 2009 season, since the KHSAA site lists the current alignment for 2007 & 2008; it's quite doubtful Brossart would grow that much in the next year and a half?? I think they'd have to grow to the 465-475 student range (previous 2 year average) to get to 2-A, from the current 395-400 range and I don't see that rapid of growth, but love your optimism!! I'm sure Thomas More is "on the radar" for Brossart and several other area schools, as a playing field option. Other than geography for the fans, TMC's new field would appear to be a great venue for HS football!! Might be a situation where you see a couple different "Home" options for the first few years?? I know TMC is agressively marketing themselves locally, in Cincy as well; especially to the area Catholic high schools. I think the practice field may already be taken care of.

My understanding is the bands can be big $$$$ drainers; so I'd think the parents would take every oppoetunity to earn some bucks??

First congratulations to Corey and good luck in your senior season @ HC and at NKU!! If he can add some bulk, work on creating his own shot, his quickness and maybe grow a little, he may help them down the road. That said however, I don't see how NKU is supposedly preparing for a move to D-1, or even back to the top of D-2 recruiting kids like McFarland, Sorrell, Bibbins, Rasso, etc. All were/are fine HS players. but not even near the top of D-2 talent-wise IMO?? I'd also agree with several above that kids like Pelle, Uebel, Jacobs, Hill, etc. were far better all around players and bring more to the table than Corey does. Add me to the head scratching crowd on this one, but not the first time with this NKU coaching group?? :confused:

Somebody's missing the boat!! With all the expenses involved with the Band these days (My sister is involved with band out in Boone Cty.), I'd think they wouldn't miss an opportunity to make some relatively easy $$$$'s, especially with that many parents to share the workload!!

If and I emphasise IF BB ends up at Miller Stadium, I'm guessing that's what the CC administration has been doing. Sometimes if you open your mind, both sides can benefit in a situation like this!!

I'm tired of defending the BB football folks (who don't need it) to closed minded, so-called experts, who incesantly quote "facts", "costs", and other "inside information" that they have no clue about; and totally disregard what others post, while just making up things to be upset about?? I feel certain that if Anthony Strong himself got on here and said it was a great deal for the school system; that you & your compatriots would claim you knew the numbers better than he does. By the way--you've got my permission to use the gym any time!! And it's B....G....Green!! PS: I know Troy Cooper brought his own shots & discus the last couple years, and I've got it on good report BB let's you display some of their trophy's from time to time as partial payment!! :D

I'll wholeheartedly agree with you on the points on lights, etc.; since that's exactly what I said in MY post, although it may be a little more difficult than you suggest!! Mustang's suggestion that the best solution may be working together to "turf" the field, which may benefit everyone, but certainly won't appease many on here. Can't speak to the NCC deal, but I don't think anyone from BB expects anything for free, and is willing to pay their fair share if a deal were worked out?? I'm going to have to take exception to your slams against the Mustang faithful?? I read BMustangs, BGP and the NKY Sports blogs faithfully and have seen nothing on there from anyone at Brossart "ripping" Campbell athletics?? Examples?? Given the success of Mustang sport's teams recently vs. the Camels, this should have been the time to beat our chests, or gloat if we wanted to; but that's simply not been the case, and won't be!! On the contrary, I've seen articles, especially on BMustangs applauding CC team's exploits, especially recently in football. You've had our BB announcer do internet braodcasts of your games, and I've heard your playoff scores announced at Mustang hoops games. I'm still confounded about the slights perceived by the Camel faithful--Get over it and set your sights higher than obsessing about a little single A school you should be dominating in everything???? We've both enjoyed a good working relationship with the middle school gym and track, so I'm not sure why this seems to stick in everyone's craw so much??

Agree with you on the youth program comments, as the key to building a solid program. CC Red Devils is a NKYFL team whose territory is essentially southern Campbell County (south of Newport, Dayton, Bellevue, etc.) They would logically serve to "feed" the high schools of that area--NCC, Campbell, Highlands and Brossart. Highlands has their own very successful youth leagues, and Campbell has a newer and growing league as well I believe (maybe one of my CC friends can shed more light on these for you). I'm sure all programs would prefer to have their own "feeder league", but I'm not sure that's very practical in the near term for the Mustangs. A more viable option might be for St. Mary's and/or St. Joe's to field middle school leagues, but I'm not sure where or who they would play (Maybe someone else with more knowledge of the youth FB world can comment on this) Regarding your other comments--There has always been a natural geographic rivalry between BBHS and CCHS, as many of the kids are neighbors, family, etc. As the Brossart teams have become more than the Camels' "homecoming game" over the years; the rivalry seems to have become more heated, especially when discussing the potential use of Bob Miller Stadium. Doubtful there'll be much of a rivalry in football, especially given the huge difference in school sizes; and don't know if they'll ever even look to schedule one another, given the limited room on the non-district schedules?? Personally I get a kick out of the passion involved, and when kept in perspective, think it's great for both schools. I really have been happy to see the resurgance of the Camels' football program, especially since I knew some of the kids involved, and am a big fan of high school sports in general. Not sure why some on here seem so openly hostile to the Mustang sports' programs, especially since we are in separate classes in most sports?? :confused: :confused:

oldteacher--A direct response--Not trying to dodge any questions, although I don't recall being ask about the St. Mary's or Pendry options?? Truth is I've got no clue if the BBHS powers-to-be are discussing any of the options you mention?? I'm not involved any more than I suspect you are in these decisions. Common sense would say the main reason these options might not work would be simply that neither is a FOOTBALL facility!! I would think the logical stumbling blocks might be as follow: Pendry Park--No lights, no stands, no goalposts, no concessions/restrooms near the soccer fields, etc. St. Marys--No lights, no goalposts, no stands, no concessions/restrooms, etc. I'm also not sure if there's room as I believe these are youth fields and somewhat smaller than the 120 yards necessary for football? That said most of these could be overcome, although the goalposts at Pendry would likely be an issue. I suspect these "options" have been explored, but honestly don't know. I'm not involved in any way other than support with the Brossart football program, so am not privy to these discussions. I would suspect that before anyone would sink the money necessary to build concessions, restrooms, stands, and goalposts at St. Mary's, other more permanent options would be explored?? If the county were to have an interest in providing a football option at Pendry, that would seem a more viable option. I can certainly understand the concern SOME Campbell supporters have for BB using Miller stadium, and the strain this might put on an already overworked field with a history of problems. Not being a grounds keeping expert, it does seem odd to me that with the multitude of games aforementioned (Campbell Varsity, Campbell JV, Campbell Freshman, multiple age groups of youth leagues, Red Devils, Band Competitions, etc); that five (5) Brossart home games will destroy the field and endanger kid's health as many of you have stated?? 30-40 events are fine, but 35-45 will render the field unplayable and put kid's in jeopardy???? I suspect there may be other underlying reasons for a few fan's concerns???? Hope this is a direct enough response for you!!!!

Not much of a bargain either--good luck to the young Colonels this year!! Who figures to get the starting nod at QB? Receivers? DB's? They lost a lot to graduation at these spots, as well as the lines.

Don't believe that's the case buttels? Brossart, while only having one year of essentially JV play under their belt, as I understand was faced with the choice of moving to district play this year or reapplying in a few years. They chose to move to Varsity District play this year, and thus would be eligible to participate in the playoffs if they qualify. Very doubtful this will happen with established Class A programs including the 1000 lb. gorilla (Beechwood) in their district; but I feel certain were they able to pull this off, there's no "delay"??
