Back at ya: 1. Seems like there are just as many Russell fans as Belfry fans on here. 2. 3 words for ya, Jones/Howard/Childers. Need I say more. It just seems like to me that Gross could have used a little of their help last year if they were just standing on the sidelines.

I really just hope that all Belfry fans show up at Russell and cheer on the Pirates. That is the reason we are there. That is reason we're called fans. I agree Watusi, I didn't like what happened on the field during tunnel time either, just as much as I didn't like the SC flag being ran in front of our bleachers either. One doesn't excuse the other. I also don't like the fair weather fans that come to the game just to socialize. For me, the definition of a fan (short for fanatic) is someone who comes to encourage, support, and get behind your team. That means having to get on your feet every once in awhile and showing your fan spirit. It doesn't mean buying a ticket to sit there with headphones on doing nothing but watching. Agree or disagree, nothing will ever change my mind on this. One of the best feelings as a fan is to see everyone in the stands rise and cheer on their team and hear the roar of the crowd. Gives me chills just thinking about it.

I really think people are under estimating the Pirates this year. I think that it's hard for everyone to look past the loss of Howard/Jones/Childers. No one expected Belfry to be here and are a little surprised that they are. I'm sure that Russell is a very good team this year, because I have heard nothing but good things about them. I guess my only question is this..If Russell has 3 very good backs this year, where were they last year. Josh Gross was pretty much the only back that got their hands on the ball during last years game. Why wasn't these kids utilized last year? Are they freshman or tranfers that wasn't eligible last year? I'm not trying to sound sarcastic, I was just wondering.

Like all the Belfry backs, he does his job and does it well. I don't think you can compare him with anyone. All 3 of them (Howard, Jones, Maynard) are uniquely different. Jones was a speed demon. When he got an open field or beat you to the side, he was gone, see ya. He wasn't the most powerful back in terms of breaking tackles, but half the time you couldn't catch him to tackle him. Howard was the power runner with speed thrown in. He was an all around back. He was amazing to watch and almost impossible to bring down. His stiff arm was a thing of beauty. Maynard is a finesse back. He has speed and can spin and cut on a dime. He reads openings tremendously well. He is hard to catch once he gets an open field also.

You know I can't vote against the Pirates. I think that these boys want to earn ring of their own, since the majority of them were watching from the sidelines the past 2 years. I'll stick with the Boys from Belfry!!!!!

I think that Belfry will pull out the win. I know, I know, of course I would say that due to being a Pirate fan...but, I think that the Belfry team that we are seeing now, is the Belfry team ready to go back to State. No one, including myself, thought that Belfry would be as good as they are right now. This team replaced almost all skilled positions and came together fast. I have to say that they are the most composed group of kids I have ever seen. When the momentum starts to swing in the other direction, these kids don't get intimidated. They keep their composure and they do whatever is necessary to get the upper hand back as quickly as possible. Belfry will play Belfry's game...period. If anyone is basing their opinion on Belfry with the beginning of the season..forget it. Last night was their best game of the year and Coach Haywood will have them ready come Friday. I honestly haven't seen a game of Russell's all year. I have only read post on them. I know that it will be a good game. Belfry 32 Russell 21

This was shocking to me. I haven't heard much about O-cath this year, because it's been all about Fort Campbell. Every post regarding 2A has had one common theme "It's Fort Campbell's year..Fort Campbell will be 2A champs...Fort Campbell has 3 D-1 players". I guess this goes to prove that it doesn't matter what it looks like on paper..the game is decided on the field. Congrats to O-cath.

If only we wouldn't have fumbled 4 times, we would have won.

Well, it's here. In 13 hours, there will be 2 high school football teams lined up head to head, coach to coach, fans to fans, giving everything they have to win. Those young boys will leave their blood, sweat, and tears on that field tonight, but for one team, that won't be good enough. For one team, it ends tonight no matter how much heart, determination, and fight that they brought to the game, it will end. I have such respect for the kids that work as a team for one common goal and that is to be the best. Their hunger for victory is overwhelming and the emotions will show throughout the game. But, we all know that some kid's dream will end tonight and there will be nothing to ease the pain of defeat. As we all travel to CAM stadium tonight, let's remember that these are just kids on that field, giving it all they have to win. Let us, the fans, be sportsman, not unsportsmanlike. Let's show our kids how much we appreciate their efforts to give us something to be proud of. So, until the game tonight, I just want to say, I hope that every kid plays to their potetial and walks away healthy and safe. Oh yeah, one more thing: Go Belfry!!!!

This game will be the first time I actually get to see Sheldon Clark & Belfry play. I had to work concession during the first match-up so I didn't see anything. :mad: I wanted to know..who is SC's playmaker? Who will be the go-to guy? Does SC have 3 backs able to carry the ball or do they depend on one person?

That's good because Belfry fans are very dependable...
