I don't think that anyone has earned the right to be protected by any official. I think that you call a ballgame fair for every kid on that court. One player should never be favored over the other, no matter what his age or grade. A foul, is a foul, is a foul...period!

Will refs from the 13th work the girl's game also?

I think that kid did an outstanding job last year on defense. If I'm not mistaken, he had a huge game against P-burg.

This is the first game that I have missed this season and have to say that by reading BB's post, the Belfry team that played last night sounds like a completely different team that has played all year. There are some great kids on that team that usually plays with nothing but class. Frustration must have set in for some reason, but that is no excuse to act beneath yourself, your coach, your school, your teammates, your parents, etc. I know that Coach Casey will get his team back on track and behavior's in check. The season is far from over and the remainder will show how much this Belfry team wants it. Congrats to Coach May and ER on the win.

I think that it would have been called traveling, but the Morgan Co. player reached down and grabbed the ball before complete possession was determined, in turn, it was called a jump ball before the Belfry player called the timeout. I don't really know though to be honest. I do know that the refs called a few "make up" calls for missed ones for both teams. I wish that you could go to a bench and sub the refs.

This Belfry team will bring excitement back to the Belfry B-ball program for sure. They are so much fun to watch. Great passes, great teamwork, great coaching...the elements are all there. :dancingpa

Aaron Chapman is listed as being chosen on this team in the Williamson Daily News today. The following Belfry players are listed: Matt Maynard - Player of the year First Team: Aaron Chapman, Justin Gooslin, Chad Steele, Richard Harris, Dustin May, Tommy Church, Cory Chapman, Derek McCoy and Bobby Burton. Coach Haywood was chosen as Coach of the Year.

If I recall, about 3 years ago didn't we have a thread on a chain crew which would listen to the opposing coach call the plays and then send signals over to the other team to let them know what play was going to be ran? Or did I just imagine that... :creepy: The coach that moved the chain reminded me of something that Luther VanDam would have done on the TV show Coach. :lol:

You're right. Belfry did have to hold off the passing attack during the entire game. We hadn't played that many passing teams at all during the season and in the end, the Pirates did just what they had to do...thanks to Chris Varney's interception. However, Russell's run style is very different than Belfry's. Ocath will have a long night if they can't stop the run this year and can't get their offense on the field. It will be a very good game I believe. I just wish that I could be there to see it for myself.

It was quite a game last year with the RUN against the PASS. Unless Ocath has a different line that can stop the run, Russell should do fine. But, don't be surprised if Ocath does get close to 40 passess off. That is their style. They pass quickly..very quickly. They can move the ball down the field in no time. At least they did last year. Different year, different team, same style of football. Good Luck Devils..bring it home to the east!

When did this become about Shelby Valley???? I thought this thread was about the Belfry/Russell game.

Then this year's game will be on more of a level playing field. I know that you have always had awesome receivers and can score quickly, whereas Belfry ate the clock up with the amazing backfield that we had. It was a good game last year. Is your game still the pass????

I think that the difference between last years Belfry/Ocath game and this years Russell/Ocath game is that Russell will pass the ball when needed. If Ocath defends the run during the 1st and 2nd down then Russell will pass the 3rd. I'm sure that Ocath learned a lot about the run last year and has made some adjustments to try to control it.

I don't know if many people know this or if it has been mentioned on here, but Matt Maynard was playing with a groin injury that he received in the Sheldon Clark game. He is an amazing player and his speed is outstanding to watch.

I have seen Russell play...(wish I had seen them play at their worse, but didn't happen :irked: ) and I was there last year watching my Pirates win against OCath. I am assuming that OCath plays the same style of ball that I watched last year. A quick style offense that works from the shotgun a lot and big pass plays with 3 to 4 receivers. Two completely different styles of football. Interesting once again. Both teams are hungry for the hardware. Ocath as a revenge for losing last year and Russell for not being there in a few years. I'm hoping that the trophy comes back to the east. Good Luck Russell.
