Beechnut

Just got home and my heart rate is STILL high!!!!! Congrats Tigers! You sure know how to make life interesting!

VERY well defined boundaries! We are an independent school district ROUGHLY made up of the city boundaries of Ft. Mitchell. Our Bellevue 'transfer' moved into the district. We're a K-12 school under one roof. About 1000 students total. High school is grades 7-12 on the 'other side' of the building. BTW---GO TIGERS!!!!!!!! and GET WELL BUDDY!!!!!!!

Great game and really nice field and facilities. Still trying to get my breathing and heart rate under control. Sticky-you said it!!!!! Now Tigers, Go get those ponies!

Thanks so much!!! Let's hope the rain holds off or comes thru early! GO TIGERS!!!!!!

Could we get some directions to the field? Is the field on the school property? I've heard to take 27 'all the way in'. Thanks.

No. Beechwood's field is shared with the softball team for games. There is a very small field that the girls use for practice, but it isn't regulation since the school is land-locked.

Shanks and Grieme from St. Henry Muth, Moore, Curley and Sawyer from Beechwood Guttridge from Ryle Sorry, that's all I know for sure.

BW played Dixie Slow Pitch on Thurs. This same Dixie team has only been playing SLOW PITCH this whole season, because Dixie has a separate fast pitch team. My gripe is, BW and other small schools have had the same girls bouncing back and forth between fast and slow this season in order to qualify for the postseason. It is EXTREMELY difficult to switch back and forth, and is also UNFAIR that not all teams in the slow pitch 'league' are required to abide by the same rules. I agree that slow pitch has served its time, but that isn't the issue with this thread. I was under the impression that ALL slow pitch teams had to play at least 10 fast pitch games. The girls on the teams that have only been playing slow have had the opportunity to improve in that sport, albeit not learn a NEW sport. The girls that have had to trade back and forth have had their timing messed up, their heads played with (like, "can I steal, can I lead off?") every other day. There's been no growth. No learning. Only frustration.

You have to keep in mind good fit for academics and comfort for the student/athlete. Sometimes the school record or even the school's division is farther down on the family's list of criteria. Congrats Chris!!! I wish you all the best!!!!!!

This may be old news to most of those who are playing the split slow/fast season, but I just found out last night that teams whose schools have a fast pitch team don't have to play the mandatory 10 fast pitch games this season. HOW FAIR IS THAT?????? Most teams are struggling to get in their 10 games and having to bounce back and forth between fast/slow. It's hard on the coaches, hard on the kids. They aren't learning consistantly. We tried to schedule all fast games that first week, but due to weather, the 'best made plans' haven't worked out that way. I just feel that if a school wants to field a slow pitch team, they have to adhere to the standards set to everyone else. If you want to play in this league, then you have to play 10 fast and 10 slow. Anyone else? Thanks for letting me vent...

The hardest thing I've seen is convincing PARENTS to allow their little girls to learn the fast pitch game at the recreation level. They don't seem to have a problem letting their BOYS learn baseball and be alone on the mound at age 7 or 8, pitching every few days. The girls will have to adapt and learn a new style of game. It's going to be a tough few years, but if they just hang in there, they may find the same amount of enjoyment in this 'new' sport. Now....if we can just get more people to transfer to this area from Illinois, CA, Texas, etc...that KNOW how to play.....

School has been out on break, so no new revelations. Applications will be taken until Friday, Jan. 6, so I suppose the committee will meet that next week and review all the resumes. Anybody heard who's applied? Long or short list?

There are 2 teachers, one parent, the high school principal and an Athletic Booster member on the committee.

The position was advertised in the Cincinnati Enquirer today. I saw it. Right underneath of the ad was one for a Math teacher. To say anyone turned it down is extremely premature. I don't think the committee will even meet until after Jan. 6th.

CONGRATULATIONS!!!!!! This is YOUR year to shine. Make NKY proud!!!!!!!

I was speaking of the future Jrs AND Srs. Every other year they were in different divisions because of age. So, the COMBINED Jr./Srs. have a total of 3 Superbowl appearances.

The majority of the underclassmen moving up next year were members of the Spartan Youth football program. During their 8 years of play, this group went to the Superbowl 3 times, winning twice. They are a very athletic group that has yet to be proven in their Tiger Stripes. Given the opportunity, this group can and will step up to the challenge. They can't wait.

It's been a great run. But, all good things must come to an end. For all the slightly numb Tiger players out there: Look out the window. The sun is shining. It's a beautiful day. It happened. Life keeps going on. It won't be the same, just different. You can do it. We know you can! To all the former players: Thanks for the memories.

Unfortunately, Johnny didn't make the cut. He's fine with it, said he had to at least try, so he'd not go thru life wondering or wishing he did. On the Travis Smith front, Travis is at EKU, loving every minute of it, and has tried out for the team. I don't think the cuts have been made yet. From what I've heard, they liked what they saw. As to Travis' SR season, I think he got walked more than he was allowed to hit. Kind of put a kink in the stats and his marketability, thru no fault of his own.
