Don’t believe Eddie was at NewCath in 05 or 06.

He is more proven than maybe any new hire in the history of the program??? He is like the first hire in 70 years with previous head coaching experience. Where exactly has he coached that he should have achieved more?

The discipline problem isn't in the halls. There are plenty of people there to take care of that. The discipline problem is lent by being inconsistent with punishments and accepting of too many mental errors, IMO.

Why? Campbell County has gone as far as it can go w/ Steve and Steve has gone as far as he can go with Campbell County. One thing that will never be doubted about Steve is that he is his own man. He has been since we were banging heads in middle school basketball, and I'm sure well before that. I, personally, am pumped that NewCath got Steve. He and Eddie have a very similar demeanor and confidence. Now, if 17 year-old Steve saw 40 year-old Steve become NewCath's head coach, I don't think that he would have been very accepting of the idea, ha ha.

It is true. Something cool is about to happen up there that will make people forget that poor decision making by the powers that were at the 2 schools.

B/c it is going to take a major engineering project to stabilize the hillside to create room for a stadium. Depending on who you listen to, the Diocese did NewCath no favors by selling what is now the land that Aldi's sits on.

I started the dynasty thread and I have zero love for the CovCath b-ball program. I am a NewCath guy with kids at Highlands. The thread was made from an observation of what CovCath had coming up through the ranks. So far they have finished in the state semi finals and the 9th Region reps have gone semi final and final after that. So, I was incorrect due to the fact the CC didn’t win 4 in a row. However, the 9th Region has never been so successful down state before, so I beg to throw in a caveat.

Do they still do the head coach coach during timeouts while the 7 assistants converse with the referees?

You dont mean that. Excuse or not, that schedule and travel takes a toll. Add to it 3 of the best teams in the state, 2 from the city hosting the tourney, and you get unique challenges that won’t be faced at any other point in the season.

Comparing stats is great if you have nothing else to compare QBs to. You can make stats dance in all sorts of wonderous ways. They also don’t tell all of the story. All of the guys that we are comparing on here at QB made the state finals. There were multiple streaming games for people who vote to watch them play. Maybe it was to the point of just splitting hairs and they took a state champ who was more vital to his team in their opinion?

Should Mayfield and Trinity not expect the same? When multiple generations go through and win multiple championships with multiple coaches, expectations are set. I do not think Highlands beats CovCath with Bill Belichek this year or Bowling Green previous to that. What I did see was a very slow change in tactical philosophy. That would need to improve. Adaptability to talent and recognizing talent seemed too slow to get the proper personnel gelling when it mattered the most.

Brent Grover from Highlands played in the Army All American game and had a good career at Purdue after being recruited very heavily. Kam Butler is as close of a player to him as you will find. I don’t get why he didn’t have more offers. He is a future DE at the college level with great athleticism and instincts. Unless his size is really marked up in the program, what I saw on Hudl all year doesn’t add up.

He grew up playing as a Fire Fighter and lived in south Newport. Interesting. He's a great guy who lives and dies the game.

No...not Nick. Ha ha. I remember umpiring a knothole game and he asked me if I wanted him to hit a grand slam (bases loaded obviously). I said sure, and he said, "Center Field." Two pitches later....

I don’t remember relatives coaching when I was there. We had coaches from outside of the NewCath family.

I will say that the atmosphere and vibes around the programs seem similar. I like BW. I hope it gets turned around for his sake but more importantly for the boys that I watched grow up dreaming of being at this point. It would make for a good story.

Fact. He was the best at identifying talent and identifying what kind of team he had tactically speaking.

Different circumstances. Coach Schneider went into a Bobby Bowden role. I don’t know what relationship BW has with his coordinators or what the roles are
