Jimmy Ryan, the high school’s athletic director, sent an email Tuesday night that refuted online reports about Steve Lickert, the head coach at Campbell County the last seven seasons, getting the NewCath job.

“We have not finalized any hire at this time,” Ryan stated in the email. “(Principal) Ron (Dawn) and I have discussed things with extreme detail and we will make our final decision in the next few days. This hire is very important to our school so we are making sure all the fine print has been reviewed of each candidate.”

So did Stephen Lickert step down as HC at CC?

Email just came out to families says otherwise....

Email from whom to which families?

Please be clear - not murky!

Unless the email we received is wrong.

NEWPORT CENTRAL CATHOLIC WELCOMES STEPHEN LICKERT AS NEW HEAD COACH — NCC

#awkward

16 minutes ago, NCC names Lickert as new Head Coach. Per Twitter.

The email announcing it is dated today, and while the article in the original post is dated today, it refers to the refuting email being sent Tuesday night. Is it possible the thing just wasn't finalized until sometime today?

Makes sense to me.

Typical NewCath denying something that has been done a few days ago.

Might as well delete this. NewCath already put out official press release

Looks to me that NCC didn't like BGP and @theguru scooping them.

Let's face it everyone, as usual @Voice of Reason is correct.

Shame on you Jimmy Ryan for going on the record and intentionally misleading everyone about your new football coach.

And Terry Boehmker, that was pathetic...

NCC jumped the gun on their announcement. Lickert hadn’t told his kids at CC.
