The "right" comes from the fact that it doesn't actually impact Beechwood's soccer team, just where their program hosts a neutral preseason game. Now, if this was Districts or Regionals then I could see major issues.

I get your point, but this is preseason for soccer w/ Beechwood acting as a neutral field so I don't see what type of enforcement there could possibly be. Rash not giving up the field is his right, I suppose. Football is the money maker. It just, in my opinion, is a bad look for him. You have a week of 2-a-days by the time Friday night rolls around. Beechwood hosts this event on a rotating basis, so in another 18 years? This isn't an annual inconvenience. In truth, it really isn't that big of a deal, and I may be coming across as petty myself, but it doesn't make sense. Why not help another coach in your own school promote a regional event in their sport? Is the main reason that it promotes the other fall big male sport? I mean, it is Beechwood football v Beechwood soccer. There is only one winner there, so why not help Rechtin run this thing right as a goodwill gesture?

Hosted by Beechwood. I can't for the life of me, understand having it at Beechwood with the way that Rash kungfu grips the field. Highlands v Ryle is at 8pm on Friday. It is a rematch of the 9th region championship and a match-up of 2 of the top 3 teams in the state. Pretty cool preseason game, and probably would draw one of the larger crowds that these two will play in front of this year.......and Rash refuses to give up the field so that the football team can practice at 8pm on the first Friday night in August? Can't sports teams work together? I know that Yeagle was HUGELY opposed to soccer at Beechwood, and I'm guessing that Rash feels the same way, but I mean, this is pretty petty. In my humble opinion.

This is THE school that I would go to. It has everything. Literally, everything. Palo Alto is beautiful, great weather, great academics, and GREAT connections post college.

My boys made it this year, so I'm excited to watch this season, seflishly.

The biggest name, IMO, is Will Bernham in goal. 2 year starter, perfect score on the ACT, and a great leader. It will be between him and James Spinney from Ryle for top goalie in the 9th and maybe the state. Mikey Penrod will be the fulcrom in midfiel. All Region Alex Ford is back to start his 3rd Varsity Season w/ Devin Harris starting his fourth. Drew Cavicini returns as a starter at CB. They can play a back 3 in front of Bernham, or Devin can play outside back as he has in the past...really, Harris can play anywhere on the field. They lost a TON of great leadership. Nick Gish's leadership can't be overstated. Great Kid. I look for Carter Holmes to lead the attack and provide leadership. Porter Heddenburg (sp?) is a nice weapon off of the right wing. There may not be 1st team All State players, or a DI player like Elias Ordonez from last year, but this team doesn't drop off after 1-11. They have a lot of depth. Even in goal, Nick Fischer would start for every other team in NKY not named Ryle. Their whole year depends on finding 2 or 3 consistent goal scorers. Defensively, they will be very tough to break down.

This will have to be about the most experienced Highlands teams in memory. Potentially 17 seniors is a very big number, with 10 of them returning starters or letter winners. Add 2 Jrs and a Sophomore, and 13 contributors return.

This will be the first Bluebirds team that I have personal knowledge of the players from Kindergarten to present. I am really excited to see all of them get a chance to shine. Stay healthy and swarm to the ball, Fellas.

I don’t remember much about our schedule. I do remember seeing the cross country runners running our hill, running 27, running our hill, running 27 and feeling bad for them. I’d rather overheat in equipment than run 10 to 12 miles in the smog.

I would feel like that would be the case. I always felt bad for kids I knew growing up that had to shuffle between Newport, Covington, and Cincy.

Is the 9th Ryle’s to lose? They return a lot, but lose the 9th’s defensive player of the year. CovCath? Highlands? St. Henry. Let’s hear it

Best high school leader I have ever seen. He is going to be a huge success in whatever he does.

For those that aren't really on either side, it just isn't all that enjoyable. The best that this rivalry ever had was 87-97. Other than that, you always know who is going to win. I'd say Beechwood and NewCath has lost a bit of its magic as well. It had a great run from '00 to '14 w/ tons of great games, but Beechwood is pulling ahead by leaps right now. Hopefully NewCath can harness the talent they have this year and make it a great game again.

How many of these games have been competitive in the last 20 years? 10 total?

If you watch St. Thomas Aquinas and other Florida schools, they have players play both ways quite a bit. They aren't true "Ironmen" but they are in rotations on other side of the ball. True platooning in high school is overrated.

Even from a young age, that is what I really appreciated about his basketball game. A lot of big kids can't pull that off for 24 minutes, and he never seemed to run out of energy.

AJ Mayer to Veneman....ouch.

I will say this, this team had the team speed to match up w/ any CovCath team and the size to match up against any past CovCath team. When you have that much size and TALENT on the outside, it is tough to match that. They had, what, 6 receivers who contributed that were 6'2" or taller? They had McGinnes in the flats in the passing game as well as being part of a nice little thunder and lightning duo in the backfield. All you can do, due to changes in eras, is to compare how the team did against their peers, and this team dominated.

Guess he is good at math?

I can't name another one, and he was very underutilized.

OJ Howard did alright.
