Does Size Really Matter?
I think it has more to do with participation than enrollment, I know that Monroe County hasn't grown any as a school in quite a while yet more kids are participating in football than ever before. I don't think its a coincidence that Monroe County's most successful teams have also been the largest (number wise)... For instance when I graduated we had 38 players on our team and 8 seniors, last years team had 18 seniors and this years team has 76 players total, 28 of those are freshman that’s just 10 less than we had on the entire team when I played…

Monroe County 28 Wayne County 7
As for Monroe I was very impressed with the effort tonight, Some surprise players stepped up took advantage of opportunities and some star players made plays where their seemed to be no play to make. This was a game that I was a little worried about, being it's the first game of the season for a young Falcon squad playing a veteran Wayne Co. team on the road, but Monroe's hard work paid off and they got a much needed victory to start the season off great... 1-0 Go Roe Go

Yeah DJ Hall hadn’t improved as much as I expected, he was tough to contain last year but never really got anything going tonight. Wayne is pretty quick all over the field and seem to have all the pieces necessary to have a real good football team.

I was a little surprised to see Danville and Green Co. above Monroe, all three lost quite a bit but it seems Monroe was the only one that dropped while Green and Danville rose...

2009 Monroe County
Monroe Co. should have another good year in 09. Like TSY7 and SG said the Falcons success will hinge on how well the OL/DL play, they certainly have the potential to do great things and have worked very hard in the off-season to build strength and quickness. Another position that will be critical for the Falcons will be QB which will feature (Jr.)Jackson Arnett in his first season at the helm, no doubt he has the athletic talent to play the position the question is can he be the leader he needs to be? I think so… My personal opinion is the Falcons have a good shot to win the region again if a few breaks go their way, this is a good group of kids that has grown accustomed to winning and appears to be primed for a good run in 09. On a side note I was a little disappointed when the schedule came out and once again no Tennessee teams where scheduled, there’s a great natural rivalry in place being a border county to TN and it’s something the fans would really get excited about. I’m not sure what the problem is in making it happen, but I’m quite sure it’s not Coach Petett which brings up the question what more does he have to do to have complete reins of the Falcons program? I would say he’s already earned it…

Spring Training surprises
It's always good when you hear about intense practices and players challenging each other like this group of Falcons is doing, no doubt Coach Petett’s intensity is translating to the players and that will no doubt payoff once the season starts...:ylsuper:

2009 2A Outlook
I really think Glasgow is a year away from being back as a 2A power, IMO they may struggle a bit early on but will probably be dangerous come playoff time. No doubt the road to the title will run through FC provided Andrews stays healthy, I really think their title chances are on his shoulders but if he's healthy he can certainly handle it. Monroe will no doubt be tough again, but I'm not sure they have the depth needed to make a run like last year(mainly at DL and OL). Much like FC their success will hinge on their QB. Green Co. will probably be pretty good but they'll have to modify the playbook a little if they want to have much success, they won't have the horses to play as one dimensional as last year. Personally I wouldn't mind them having an 0-11 season.:sssh:

Glasgow Coaching Situation Turning Ugly
I was saying on here for years that last years Monroe team was loaded and one to watch. It was no surprise they achieved what they did for those that followed those young men closely. I have seen Glasgow's varsity and JV and IMO they are not a state championship contender the talent just isn't what it used to be, not saying it won't soon return but for the next two years Scottie fans should shoot for a district championship and be ecstatic with anything more than that... I would say spring practice is very important for a team with a new coach, it's a great opportunity to implement your system and work on it at full speed.

Glasgow Coaching Situation Turning Ugly
I'll write that down... No doubt Glasgow will contend for the district championship almost every year, but to say they will contend for the state championship the next three years is ridiculous. I don't think people seem to realize that Glasgow is already behind every other district team right now because spring practice is starting and the Scotties are still coach less...

Glasgow Coaching Situation Turning Ugly
Your joking right? I've seen Glasgow's Varsity and JV and they will struggle to win the district much less the State Championship. Not saying they won't be greatly improved compared to this season but lets not get carried away...
