I'm on record as being a Harbin fan. I think it's the best way to determine the playoffs in a state as big as Ohio. Also, the rankings seldom miss a worthy playoff team. Especially since the playoffs have been expanded over the years. To clear things up, though the last few posts are accurate. Ohio only has two D-I regions and 16 teams from each region make the playoffs. Cincy area schools are in region II. Top eight host first round games. All other divisions are broken into four regions, with 8 teams from each region making the playoffs. Cincy area teams are in regions 6, 10, 14, etc. in respective divisions. Have to add that at 33 out of 37 teams, Sycamore is already virtually eliminated from the D-I playoffs. Guess the Cincy coaches had them pegged right after the CovCath game.

Bolded. I'd take the 97 Highlands team in that category by a large amount.

I'm relatively sure it was 84 and 85 I'm speaking about. In 84, Highlands wasn't very good. CovCath was ranked No. 1 in the state at one point, but lost to some guy named Tom Duffy and Danville early in the playoffs. In 85, the Birds may have gone 7-3ish, not sure. They weren't very good though. Didn't make the playoffs. Newport was very good that year. CovCath and Lloyd were also good. The 86 Birds team actually made the playoffs. Not a great Highlands team, but certainly better than the two previous seasons.

This would be a "you think" instance. second bolded: "Cheering at the opposing fans," would easily be construed as heckling, baiting, or worse by many. Doubt you get that, cool. Try rooting for your team without involving the other school's students. You root on the boys you know by name, and let them root on their classmates. Being a fan is not a participation sport. However, on the second bolded, if you still want to "cheer at opposing fans," let me be the first to offer you a ticket to an NFL stadium to root for the road team. I'll be hoping it works out well for ya.

If I remember correctly Duffy came in and produced winning teams pretty quickly. None of his team's were near this bad if memory serves. I do recall Highlands being pretty down in 84 and 85. Not sure of their won/loss record, but they weren't very good. I don't think they made the playoffs either season.

Continuing to give perspective on Sycamore. The Aviators lose tonight 47-23 to conference foe Fairfield. Sycamore now 1-3 on the season, only win against CovCath.

I'm not positive, but I think the kid that kicked it is an Ohio St. recruit. Lots of talent on the field tonight for both teams. As GCL play gets ready to gear up, anyone want to pick a winner? It's the tightest four team race I've ever seen.

I don't know enough about other conferences around the nation to say for sure. I'll say this year the GCL South is absolutely loaded. I can't imagine any conference having four better teams. GCL South does benefit conference wise, by being a small conference. Only four teams and three of them are very good to great annually, so the conference is never watered down. With LaSalle being so good the last couple years, the GCL South has improved to perhaps an all-time best this season.

Further perspective on Sycamore, albeit based on a score. The Aviators lose again tonight to a lower division foe, this time Trotwood-Madison. Sycamore is now 1-2 on the season.

10 teams were ranked ahead of Sycamore in this week's coaches poll. Again 10 teams. Six of those teams were from Sycamore's conference. These are the facts. Not sure what planet you got your info from.

Miss the point much? Point is simple, Sycamore was ranked 11th and tied with Milford by the Greater Cincinnati Division I coaches this week. How much clearer can I be? What I think of Milford v Sycamore doesn't matter because this is a real life poll voted on by real life coaches. The coaches didn't put Sycamore in the top 10, they listed them in the bottom half of their conference. Those are facts. I stated them to give us perspective on what Cincinnati COACHES think of Sycamore. What you think matters not. The poll is the poll.

This wasn't a subjective analysis on my part. It was fact. Fact, Sycamore was tied for 11th with Milford in this week's Greater Cincinnati coaches poll. Fact, six other team's in Sycamore's conference of 10 teams were ranked ahead of them. I never compared a score. You did, based on a 7 v 7 then called doing so dumb, so why do it? Trust me when I say, I know the Cincinnati football scene as well as virtually anyone on this board, so I already know all I need to about both Milford and Sycamore. Again, I was simply stating facts regarding this week's poll. Which does allow us to put into perspective exactly where Greater Cincinnati coaches put Sycamore in their pecking order. Not a top 10 team, and in the bottom half of their conference.

To help gain some perspective on Sycamore, they were tied for 11th place in this week's Greater Cincinnati Division I coaches poll. They were tied with a Milford team that handled Dixie last week. Sycamore was ranked below six schools in their own conference in the poll.

I'm a little surprised Colerain won the game, but as someone mentioned it is extremely tough to win at Colerain. Nearly impossible over the last 15 years or so. My guess is the GCL will end with a tie at the top this year.

If they had one more big target, they'd belong in the Big 10. X isn't hurting on ability.

Certainly entitled to your opinion. But SK underestimated Stegy in the 98 regional to their demise. As I said earlier, he was better than people thought. As a senior, he was a very good player. 96 Highlands team may have been more talented. 97 team was the best of the three because of Glazier. My argument is that the 98 team belongs in the top five. I will grant your point on coaching. But, I think depth is way overrated. It's a 32 minute game played by 17 year old kids. How many subs do you need. Smith never seemed to need a breather...

Backs up no point to me at all. Every team at every level is most reliant on their two best players and that team's productivity is going to lessen when they aren't in. This isn't rocket science. As for the 98 Highlands team, Smith was one of the top 100 players of all-time in Greater Cincinnati (per Enquirer) and Lorenzen and Stegman were DI athletes. Pretty good starting point. Look at their schedule, their wins and losses, and tell me how this team fails to matchup with others in the list. People may not remember how good Smith was. I've only seen a couple of better players ever in the region. He was named MOP in the Beach Ball Classic. Tournament included North Carolina, South Carolina, Indiana, Boston College, Kentucky, and Georgia recruits among others.

Legit points. In fact I would have said many of the same things in your post. I'll expand more later, but I think the points are legit.

Rage? Overstate things much? I didn't think it was an interesting stat. Thought it was meaningless and just pointed that out. That's all.

I'm not sure what this proves? You have two high level D-I athletes and the team is better with them on the floor? Go figure. Is there a high school team in America that isn't considerably better with its two best players on the floor? And one of them was arguably the best player in the state.

Stegman was highly underrated as a guard. The 98 Highlands team played pretty quick teams and pressing teams and did fine. Scott County and PRP included. And Lorenzen was basically a guard playing the four spot. Very good passer.
