  1. It kind of is, but you have to click around. Linked below gets you to the opening day of games. Obviously not all schools have loaded everything in but at least its a start. https://scoreboard.12dt.com/scoreboard/khsaa/kyfb23?I'd=2023-08-18
  2. Yes, Combs did a very nice job. That first round district loss to Mercer in 2000 still stings. A .500-ish Mercer team beat one of the better teams Garrard had in the first round of the district then went on to make the state tournament. Combs did win two district titles before moving into administration at Berea and later in Lexington.
  3. Definitely young, but she's been around good programs her entire career. Lincoln was outstanding when she played there, two time all-conference player at an excellent NAIA program in Campbellsville University, served as an assistant to Chris Souder at South Laurel and Cassandra McWhorter at Somerset. Really strong resume; might take a couple of years but I suspect she'll do a good job.
  4. I'm far from in the know on Danville's superintendent situation but from fifteen miles away it seems like they are always hiring someone from somewhere else. In certain situations that can be good. However, the turnover has been very high of late and everything feels chaotic. I know Bob Rowland isn't walking through that door, but is there someone with Danville ties who could help stem the tide a bit? Stop compounding bad decisions with bad decisions.
  5. I felt like this would be a good game and it was. This Male team might not be the quality of some in the past, but someone in the Manual/Trinity/Ballard/Eastern contingent is going to get a very tough first round opponent.
  6. I've always said if your school starts with an "M" and has ten letters in its name you will excel at bass fishing. In all seriousness, congratulations to both teams!
  7. I'm curious if dropping from 6A to 5A will help Butler. They've been pretty bad the last couple of years but traditionally have held their own in 6A, winning a playoff game or two some. Atherton seems much improved over the last several seasons. Doss has a new coach and has had their moments over the last decade. I think Fairdale should still be the district favorite (I know Doss isn't a district game), but those games above could still be challenging.
  8. Oh, I understand that completely. I'm not saying they should or shouldn't; doesn't matter to me. I was unaware that he was a Covid holdback, which certainly does change the calculus a bit.
  9. This is the answer and the reason why players/teams can "load manage." I understand comparing basketball players to steel mill workers and 12-hour shift folks, but with all due respect, no one is dishing out $100+ for tickets to watch them work. Does it stink for a fan to buy tickets to a game and the best player not play? Absolutely. Is there an easy fix? Not really, unless you could put together some type of "superstar designation" of a few players per team who aren't allow to sit out the same game (which seems unrealistic and perhaps even illegal in the CBA). Load management will continue because the players have the leverage. Ticket sales and TV viewership tells me that even if fans are mad about some things in the league, they are a long way from quitting going or watching.
  10. A fifth-year prep school or leaving high school before graduation? With his father being a high school football coach and his grandfather having played a significant role as coach and administrator in the KHSAA, it would surprise me if he left Woodford County before graduation.
  11. I've been to games at Ludlow and Bellevue. Ludlow's stadium looked to be in pretty good condition. It's been a few years since I was at Bellevue but it was showing some age. I've not been to Dayton for a game but just driving by it looks pretty rough. Rumors seem much stronger for a new Dayton stadium near the school; I haven't heard new stadiums mentioned for Ludlow or Bellevue.
  12. I like this schedule for Breathitt County. They've upgraded from the last few seasons. Their team has been a top-8 caliber team in Class 2A the last few years. Hopefully this schedule can help push them into the upper echelon.
  13. Its for the better, but I sure hate to see these old WPA stadiums go.
  14. Last two Model coaches have moved on to Frederick Douglass and now Dunbar. It is an almost impossible job because of school size, district (even with a blind draw its hard to advance), and region (makes All A hard to win). There are clearly some positives to the job and you can move on to better spots even without a great record. I'm sure it will draw some interest.
  15. Sad news. Was an outstanding coach but also seemed like a likeable guy, too. Any list of the best programs of the 1980s has to have Louisville very close to the top.
  16. Do you mean Notre Dame? Covington Catholic is boys only.
  17. Is Newport just redoing their stadium and track? When I was there a few years ago the turf field seemed fine.
  18. As I said in the earlier post, I hope they don't. I will add, from 1987-1998 both Danville and Boyle played in the same district so dropping wasn't an option.
  19. I hope not, but I suspect you're correct. It is almost getting to a Paintsville/Johnson Central-type situation from several years back. Both teams can still be very good, but it might not be in their best interest to keep playing each other.
  20. Man, logged in today and found out Danville's inability to keep a superintendent has kept college scouts from attending Garrard County games which in turn made it a necessity that they then transfer to Boyle County.
  21. I'm not sure what the MLB should do here, though. I do believe their "speed up the game" plan has been effective, but as others posted, can it overcome the high costs of playing at a young age? In the major leagues, 70% of the players are from the United States. The Dominican Republic (11%) and Venezuela (7%) have the next most. What bothers me - but I also don't know how to fix it - is that so many players from dirt poor places across the globe can produce MLB players but in America you have to be flush with cash. If Hispanic players in foreign countries play baseball, why aren't more Hispanic kids in the US playing? Soccer has a very similar problem.
  22. I tend to agree, although they could have built a Valley-like gym somewhere like Seneca which could have covered the north/east side of the county. Seneca is one of three schools (along with Western and Iroquois) to be getting entirely new schools in the next decade. Maybe they'll get a big-time gym to host the 7th Region events.
  23. I don't believe this is accurate. The university athletics website says they play at HIG Field, a natural grass surface on campus (it is possible they might have played a tournament game there or perhaps if their field was too wet). Linked below is a copy of this season's schedule and a description of the Campbellsville University facility. I've also included two pictures. https://campbellsvilletigers.com/sports/baseball/schedule https://campbellsvilletigers.com/facilities/hig-baseball-field/4
