  1. Prestonsburg typically starts its seasons just as poorly. And like the Pirates, Prestonsburg will also be rebuilding - >90% of the its offensive production graduated. Rather than some kind of "plan" to catch the Pirates at the right time, this is probably the only place the teams' schedules would allow it to happen. It's obvious BOTH teams want to resume the game given the scrimmage forfeitures. I suspect we'll see a defensive game filled with turnovers, busted plays, and missed assignments. But I also expect a lot of hard hitting and PLENTY of emotion on both sides. The two teams hate losing to the other just a little more than losing to anyone else (district foe or not). :thumb:
  2. Prestonsburg will sorely miss Setser and Craynon at RB and Gearheart at WR. This represents the bulk of skill position players of the offense. The defense should be strong, returning 8 starters. As such, look for the Blackcats to play a more conservative field-position style, emphasizing its defense.
  3. For those of you who only know Coach Williams through the media here and elsewhere... In the past, he's been criticized (even demonized) for his aggressive manner with some of his players. To that I say, it's just who he is - emotional, loud, and NOT subtle. He's as "old school" as football coaches come. Through all the bluster, make no mistake. Chuke is definately one of the GOOD GUYS. He's a sincerely good-hearted man. Prayers made and will continue...
  4. The Colonels are usually a well coached team that plays fundamentally straight up who rarely beat themselves. I really enjoyed the Whitley Co./P-burg matchups a few years ago...
  5. Nah...you're just bummed about Tilghman and Mayfield going through a rough patch. In Tilghman's case, a minefield...
  6. Uh...never mind. I think I took another post incorrectly. :creepy:
  7. - Campbell was the best pure power back I saw this year. - Mills did more with less, by far, than any other coach in 4A. If there was an award for "best no-name team" it would go to Knox Central. - Nice to see Austin McKinney get kudos. Incredible numbers for an under-sized junior LB. :bunny:
  8. oh, almost forgot... Congrats to BRAVES1 on the Championship week win (get what you want, but the football pullovers are VERY nice !!!) :thumb:
  9. Thanks, bugatti...and "good job" to everyone for hanging in there all season. Each of you have proven you're as big a football nut as me (and that's saying something)... Merry Christmas everybody !!! :ylsuper:
  10. If we HAVE to...OK (only to get Jade, you understand)
  11. Nice job, FC... :thumb: And a quick "THANK YOU" to southeast_bell for running the contest. It's been FUN !!!
  12. No...it isn't. T and X have the same advantage over Highlands as do the big Cincy schools. Until HHS begins getting its share of wins over those schools (since it doesn't play T or X), it'll continue being seen that way. Frankly, Johnson Central is closer to Highlands than Highlands is to X, T, and the GCL schools. :bunny:
  13. Lead the team to the State Final as a first year starting QB, yet that was not good enough... Here's the solution: Send Jade to P-burg before next season...
  14. These "dirty play" and "private school" allegations have no place in a congratulatory thread. It reflects badly on the BGP member AND his favorite team. This is FOOTBALL. Rough play and high emotions are to be expected. Give the negativism a rest and celebrate a successful season - that's what it was for both teams !! :irked:
  15. Add Beechwood at #11 and put a space between Highlands and Bell Co. and this is on the mark, IMO. :thumb:
  16. Congratulations, Falcons !!! :ylsuper: At the risk of beating a dead horse... :sssh: The 2A winner 2 years running, and 3/4 of the 2A semi-finalists this year (and 1/2 of the 3A semi-finalists) are from the much-maligned "old" 2A. It's pleasing to see my defense of the classification in past years has proven to be correct, both at the top and the class as a whole. :thumb:
  17. The 4th down conversion was the play of that scoring drive. I'd have punted - but I ain't no coach, either.
  18. Gutsy call going on 4th down at midfield for Central. Looks good when it works, though...
  19. 3rd and 3 Central Sorry... I guess we're all listening and I don't need to do play-by-play.
