  1. The fact of the matter is...it DIDN'T matter 10 yrs. ago. This was because Central was a blind man wandering in the football desert. Paintsville has never had Central "outmanned everywhere" in the manner Central now does Paintsville. The "looking down" of Central's community on its team had less to do with losing to Paintsville than the piling up of losses year after year to everyone. What football benefit has Johnson Central got out of the last 3 Apple Bowls, anyway ?? :sssh: Some of the same members attacking Paintsville for dropping the game are the same folks that defended Central's past avoidance of scheduling Prestonsburg...
  2. Speed...but strength shouldn't be sacrificed to get it. Strength is NOT the same thing as size. :bunny:
  3. I believe Mr. Osborne is, uhhh, related to Jim Matney. Yeah, that's it. Oz put in a good word with the other bands to let Central use all their music. No, wait...the other bands PAY to let Central play them. That's the ticket !!
  4. I think you meant to use "accepted". (The reason I know that is I missed the word "acceptance" on my 8th grade spelling bee, spelling it "exceptance" -and felt GOOD about it when I sounded it out-)
  5. They looked awfully dark to me. You have a nice white cane to go with it ?
  6. Christian Co. LCA Central Ft. Campbell NewCath Belfry Bullitt East Boyle Co. Male St. X TB - 42
  7. Very true... !! And if the ball wasn't completely within the left upright, the official MUST call it "no good", even if it does result in the kicker getting a "negative mark". The game's integrity is more important than a kick, no matter how "in the clutch" it is... :bunny:
  8. Exactly... :thumb: Judging whether a highly kicked ball is within the posts simply cannot be done accurately at any point other than under each post. It's simple physics !! Central folks here know how hard I've ridden that program over the years. I'm sure they'll get a good laugh out of me being called a "homer" for them.
  9. The game in question just happened Friday and it occurred on high school posts. (But...I'd have liked your suggestion implemented at the old Fairgrounds Stadium back in 1993. )
  10. I'm simply saying the video is NOT proof the kick was good. I wasn't under the upright. However, I'll trust the guy who was there more than I will a camera placed slightly askew behind the posts.
  11. I'll agree it looked good from the camera's perspective. Please note, that is NOT the same as saying the official got the call wrong.
  12. I told you where the camera needed to be. As for looking at the other official, they ALL do that on close calls to let their counterpart know whether the kick was good. If you haven't noticed before (and from your post, you haven't), BOTH officials under the posts make a FG or XP call simultaneously. Ever wonder why there are TWO officals for FG's and XP's ? The highlight is a perfect example. A high, close kick can ONLY be judged accurately directly under the upright. :bunny:
  13. You guys are NUTS !!! :creepy: :scared: That highlight was filmed directly behind the midpoint of the crossbar. The ONLY way you could have definitive proof of a blown call would be if the camera were directly behind the official under the left upright. :bunny:

  15. Eta... I think what Oldbird was getting at is...you seem to have a problem in giving an unconditional compliment, or a compliment that doesn't also contain a bigger compliment of the Birds. :sssh:
  16. True. But a defense CANNOT allow easy 50+ yd. pass plays for scores. More than 1 or 2 of those a game puts too much pressure on a ball control offense to keep up. The difference in this game had nothing to do with Central's offense, rather it had everything to do with its pass defense. Sounded like the Eagle CB's got little help from the safeties on deep patterns.
  17. I suggest two teams playing clean (and hard-hitting) makes the official's job much easier. Along with the officials, congrats to both teams playing a good clean football game. Though the result isn't what I hoped, this was between two respectful opponents. :thumb:
  18. A fake punt with 4:00 left in 2nd qtr. by Corbin at their own 34 was the play of the game. Corbin disallowed any semblance of a running game from the Blackcats and P-burg couldn't make it up through the air. Michael Campbell with ~150 yds. on 18 carries to go with 2 field goals was the player of the game. Corbin definately the better team this night. Good luck next week, Redhounds...
  19. The fake punt with 4:00 left in 2nd qtr. by Corbin at their own 34 was the play of the game. Corbin disallowed any semblance of a running game from the Blackcats and P-burg couldn't make it up through the air. Corbin definately the better team this night.
  20. TD P-burg (for pride), PAT good. Corbin 20 Prestonsburg 7
  21. FG Corbin... Corbin 20 Prestonsburg 0 About 4:30 remaining. Not the Blackcat's night.
  22. How many of Central's scoring drives have taken more than 1/4 of that ? Answer: 0
  23. It's just now 4th qtr.. Central does NOT need to abandon the run.
