Some people tell me they are becoming a prep school, and others say they are closing. I cannot seem to get a straight answer out of anyone in Paris (surprise surprise) and I was wondering if anyone else had heard anything new?

Yes, I have so many short "commings", I'm such a bad person, I think the nazi's were wonderful and terrorist are great just because I make an accurate statement about Perry Watson.... Dont know the guy, and dont care to know him, just brought up a point and it seems to have become a huge deal... :lol: I know Watson is a good coach and Allen will be taught well, but it's still going to follow Watson around, just like sanctions at UK will always follow around Eddie Sutton.... If you can please point me in a direction in this thread where I said anything negative about the Allen kid, I'll offer you an apology, and I dont give those out often.... :lol: And yes, Deron Brown was one of my best friends in high school, but I was just as critical of him at times as I have been of others....

I dont discredit Watson, but the truth is the truth. He's a good coach who made a mistake earlier in his career, Detroit has been a good mid-level program for a decade....

Nothing against Russ, I really like the kid, but Elliott had a better year this year IMO. I'm not a recruiter so I'm not to judge who has better potential, but Russell is bigger in weight than Elliott and about the same in height (around 6'6) for those who do not know. I'll say Elliott did have the advantage of playing with better overall talent (especially this year). From watching several of Bourbon's game this year, they really missed Deron Brown. Tyson Jones was a great defender and very good, but they seemed to have trouble finding a third option all year to go along with him and Russell.... Russell was given unrealistic expectations by those who follow Bourbon Co. basketball IMO. The student body always wanted more, and in all honesty I think he was doing is absolute best, something he was critized for not doing by some. He's a sound, solid player, but he isn't going to take over a game either. Russ had a huge game in last year's regional semifinals, outplaying Elliott. Elliott outplayed Russell in this year's game in Paris, and I would say both played equally in last year's regular season game in Falmouth... Allen is probably a better around the basket player, while Elliott has a much better jump shot..... Perry Watson should get credit for helping recruit and coach the Fab Five, but he has had some serious alligations against hiim in the past several years involving the Michigan program and boosters... Good luck to both kids....

Unfortantely for Dan Brown he will not be receiving a 30 million dollar buyout.... :laugh:

Detroit is a D-1 school in the Horizon League (almost positive), and they have a coach that has been there for years, I just cannot think of his name at the moment... Russell is a great kid, but he will be a project. He didn't have a tremendous senior season, (he wasn't the best big man in the 10th), but he's been pretty good for three years at Bourbon.... Here's to Russell doing well at the next level, should be interesting....

Enjoyed watching Patrick play the last couple of years, he'll do a great job at Berea....

I'd advise Brown to go to HC, it's a move up the ladder, plus Bourbon has lost something on the range of 13 players over the last 2 years. Bourbon is a solid job, but it's not the quality job that a Henry Clay provides.... If Brown does leave, it would mark two straight years where Bourbon has lost a coach to Lexington (Salsman last year to Lex Cath)... I really dont see Buddy leaving for Mercer, but anything is possible.... I forgot in my original post, but congratulations to coach Chiles, I enjoyed watching your teams play, and you will be missed. Good luck in broadcasting (I think that's what he wants to do now..)

Now would be the time to leave Bourbon, they have lost 13 players in the last two years, and last season left many of the students and alumni disappointed..... Biggs would be a great hire, but I have heard he'd like to get into college coaching..... If Biggs wants the job, he'll get it IMO....

I thought he did a good job at Deming, the 10th region will miss him....

Both are from MMI (did a game on radio for them this year), Uchendu is going to Purdue, and I'm not sure on Brown at the moment....

I'd be shocked if Pendleton didn't finish in the top 7 or 8 in the region next year.... I think they'll win the 38th.....

GRC, Mason, Brossart, Pendleton will be your district winners.... 1. GRC 2. Mason 3. Brossart 4. Montgomery 5. Pendleton After your top 4 (I really think Montgomery will be very very good next year), you could have 4 or 5 teams try to claim to the 5 spot..... Teams that will be down.... Bourbon has lost something to the effect of 13 seniors the past two seasons. It'll be interesting to see how they do, hopefully well...... Pendleton is still in the best team in the 38th IMO, but obviously will not have as much talent, Biggs's future is up in question as well.....

Pretty sure the 5/3rd only cost me 5 bucks when I went up to Catholic this year, I could be wrong. I do know it's for all day... I think the Kentucky Bank Shootout may cost 7 bucks a session, but I get in for free.... Nothing against the state tournament, but it's not worth the price.......

Agree with you 100 percent on this one Mustang.... I went to both Wednesday sessions of the sweet 16 last year, and after I got done paying 9 bucks for all day parking, 30 bucks for my tickets, and 6 bucks for a meal at A&W, I felt cheated in a way, and money was the main reason I didn't make it up Wednesday for the Sweet Sixteen this year.... I have went to the 5/3rd the last two years, and I find it some of the best basketball played during the year. Get to meet up with some old friends (Brandon Salsman came to mind this year) and for 5 bucks a day, it's a steal.... I also recommend the Kentucky Bank Shootout to basketball fans. The shootout is at Bourbon Co. High School, and Oak Hill has come the last two years. If you like watching some of the top teams from out of state, (mainly the last session) or some of the best in state teams (the first two sessions), it's worth the seven buck admission.....

Knowles reminds me alot of a taller Deron Brown, who played at Bourbon Co. from 2001-2005 and has since moved on to Morehad St. Good floor leader, has ice water in his veins, and is lightning quick..... No mistake about it, Knowles is a division I player, I could see him at a lower level SEC school.....

:thumb: I'm all for fast paced play, I love watching it (huge Gonzaga fan), but some people have got to realize that different coaches have different strategies of winning... BTW, glad to hear about your daughter, I'm sure that's something she'll never forget....

You do what you have to do to win, if that means hearing a scattering of a few boos because of it, then fine..... If holding the ball for a while is "bush league", and it wins, so be it. I'd rather be "bush" league and win then be "classy" and lose...., and in all honesty, I dont see how it's bush league....

Count me in the Steve Wright fan club, I have enjoyed watching him coach when I have had the pleasure to watch SL over the last several seasons.... Graves is going to give J-Town a game tommorrow, not predicting an upset, but I doubt it's a wide margin either way..... Walt Allen seems like a great kid, and Ty Proffitt is the smartest point guard I have saw in a while..... Congrats to Graves on a somewhat surprising victory....

Apollo is certainly a very big surprise..... Mason has nothing to be ashamed of..... Should be a couple of interesting games tommorrow morning....
