Rick Massie named Bourbon Co. head coach

Featured Replies

This is great news indead,I was told by a very good friend of mine that Rick Massie took the job as Bourbon Co. head coaching position, this man is deserving of this chance to help. If some people remember Rick Massie was the STANDOUT walk on wide reciever at UK and he went on the play in the NFL for the Denver Broncos. I hope He does well and I wish him much luck in rebuilding a once storied program.:dancingpa

Any more info on the new coach, previous coaching experience ect. Good luck, from what I've read it will be a major challenge.

Suprising. I was hearing another name. I shouldn't be to suprised the administration brought him in while the last coach was out a few days with his wife while she was giving birth. While Massie was there he decided to put in a new offense, Sounds like a man that knows football to me. Anyone who would step on another coaches toes and try to change last 3 weeks of the year should do well at Bourbon Co.

Or maybe he was installing his offense for this year.

Congrats and good luck to Coach Massie! I hope he turns the Bourbon County program around! It is a shame to see a school with a state title to their credit fall on such hard times.

Had Bourbon Co already hired a coach? I'm confused? How do you put in a new offense (step on a coaches toes) when they had no coach to begin with? I don't understand where you are coming from on this one?

Anyways congrats to Coach Massie and good luck to Bourbon Co. I have a lot of respect for the kids that have worked hard and stuck through the tough times there.

Interesting hire, but good luck, it'll be a job turning the program around....

Good luck to Coach Massie. :thumb:

Congrats to coach Massie. I hope his supporters realize that he could do a great job and go 0-10. He could do a bad job and go the same. This is a tough situation but Bourbon has always been able to compete with people like Western Hills, Jessamine and Harrison and even Franklin county. But times have changed. Hopefully Rick can at least get them to compete with those schools and Paris. Remember the old saying that a coach is only as good as his talent. I believe that to be a fairly accurate statement. Bourbon does have the talent to compete with the above mentioned schools. It will be a long road to travel. Hopefully the uphill battle won't burn the new coach out in a couple of years. Does anyone have Bourbon's schedule for next year?

Unless another league has the Denver Broncos also I would say it is a typo and he/she meant to say NFL....Good luck to Coach Massie at Bourbon County.

It will be a long, hard, road. Good luck to the coach.

Best of Luck to Rick and his staff and the youngmen at Bo Co. It will be an uphill battle but I believe he will do all of the right things.

Im not to sure about his pst coaching experiance so im not going to say incase i am wrong, but the he is verry active in the paris/bourbon co. community and I think that he will have the support of the people in the county

If I'm not mistaken he was the MS Coach at Paris for several years. He also was an assistant for the varsity for a few years. I believe he was also the track coach at Paris. Don't qoute me on this but I think I'm at least close.

Just curious, but is Rick into education? Is he going to be a paraprofessional head coach or will he be hired as part of the education at Bourbon Co? Doesn't really matter to me, but was curious to present occupation.
