Good point; coaches know those players better than anyone, even their parents. I am grateful for the coaches that my son has and all the hard work and time they put in.

Who are the good players for Trinity's defense besides the LB going to OSU? Overall, Cincinnati football is a little down this year, not a lot, but a little; if Trinity is as good on D as advertised, it will be a low scoring close game. If Trinity's offense is struggling, X will win; they are just too sound and disciplined to give up many points to a struggling offense.

From what I remember, he can really run for his size. He will be a factor Friday.

Why is that? Whenever a player plays against his old team, it is interesting and a curiosity as to why he left his old team. If he is as good as advertised, I wish him continued success.

All the defensive coaches have multiple years at coaching HS football and 3 played college football. Yes the D-coordinator is strong and yes they are all legit defensive guys. The players are not executing the scheme, which is the same scheme that won the '06 State Championship.

WV's 1st year; BB's 2nd year. BUT....WV built their program by starting with Jr. High, then Freshmen the next season, JV the next, and now Varsity. BB started with Varsity last season. It shows the way to start a program is slowly through the feeders.....

Lickert was furious with CovCath last year for beating him 24-7 by throwing TD pass with about 3-4 minutes to go; I wonder if he was just as furious tonight!!!!!!

More than halft the team didn't show up for halft of the practices to buy in....so you know not of what you speak. It is really hard to coach kids who aren't there.

I agree; Coach Brossart arrives early, stays late, coaches the finer points of offensive line like footwork and hand placement every day in practice, and gives the players plenty of reps to perfect their technique; he demands discipline from his players and at the same time shows them every day how much he cares about them; he has extremely high expectations of them tells them and their parents straight up if they are not meeting expectations on and off the field; this allows them to grow as men and know exactly where they need to improve. Unfortunately some do not like it when they fail to meet expectations and look elsewhere for the problem rather than in the mirror.

Roger Bacon had had some good teams recently; my point was not to bash Rodenberg, but to point out that the same coach who some were touting as great had a bad year last season; of course he did not forget how to coach, he did not have the horses last season.

Didn't the almighty wonderful Rodenburg go 2-8 last season at Roger Bacon??? It has everything to do with the players' talent, motivation, abilty to follow direction, and heart when the going gets tough. Coaches get too much credit when they win and too much blame when they lose.

I believe that is the bone Brent Buckley broke last year for Covington Catholic; he made it back for the Elder game which was week 8. Ironically he did it in the second scrimmage last year as well. Hopefully Conner will have the same luck and be able to return.

Ryle went up 7-0 on first 10 plays. Isler threw bad INT that would have been a TD on CCH's first 10.(14-0) Then in game situations Ryle drove and scored again.(21-0) CCH scored right before half (21-7). Ryle fumbled punt deep in their own territory, but Brossart told officials to let them keep it. (21-14) CCH scored on 2 early possessions of 2nd half. (21-28) Ryle scored on the last drive of the game. (28-28)- FINAL Ryle will be an average 6A team and Highlands will handle them. CCH better get tougher on D or every game will be a shootout, and they will not beat Highlands.

Highlands has as good a program as anyone in the COUNTRY (different from the amount of talent), but Coldwater was better than Highlands last season.

Are they turning into the next Trinity and St. X???? These two keep getting better and making each other better while the rest of the state falls further behind(with an occasional challenge from Male). Highlands has been rolling for some time under Mueller, and it sounds as if Brossart has things rolling in Park Hills. Will 5A become a 2 horse race as well every year?????

You know not what you speak of; Coldwater is a juggernaut of a program in Ohio where there is infinitely more depth than in KY; that translates into extremely difficult playoff games from week 1. They won the Div IV State Championship over Youngstown Cardinal Mooney who beat Mentor the Div I runner up and had multiple Div I players, including players going to Michigan and Penn State; Mooney also has a returning DT already signed with Ohio St.; also different from Trotwood Madison, they are extremely well-coached and disciplined. I would guess, based on the ranking, that Coldwater has a lot of returning starters from the title team; they could play with anyone in the state of OH and possibly win(outside of Cincy X). Coldwater is the real deal.

I can't speak to the 60s, but I'd take my chances with Brohm and the evolution of football, specifically the forward pass.
