That stinks. Is the fibula in the arm or leg? What year is this kid?

Man I hate to here that! That is the last thing anybody wants to see happen in a scrimmage. Thoughts + prayers are with him!

The fibula is the small bone of the lower leg. The tibia is the large bone in the front of the lower leg. Normally when you break one, you break both. I hope he only broke his fibula, it is mainly a non-weight bearing bone, not as serious as a fractured tibia.

It is the outer and thinner of the two bones of the human leg, extending from the knee to the ankle.

He is a very talented senior.

Best of luck to this kid. Hope it ends up being far less severe than expected and he can return this season.

Leg. Hope everything turns out for the best. Hate to hear that no matter what school your for you hate to hear something bad happen to one of these kids.

I believe that is the bone Brent Buckley broke last year for Covington Catholic; he made it back for the Elder game which was week 8. Ironically he did it in the second scrimmage last year as well.

Hopefully Conner will have the same luck and be able to return.

:thumb: Stud runner and fun to watch - one of the tops in KY this year. Best wishes for the quickest recovery possible.

With JC's injury what does everyone think of Running backs wearing protective shin guards? I know it may look silly but man when you think about how they take shots to the legs it only makes sense.

You see the thigh and knee pads but I think RBs need to be wearing somethign protecting the front part of the shin as well.

I hope JC is going to be allright as he is fun to watch.

Nothing against shin guards, but it would not have help this young man, the fibula is located in the back of the lower leg and is normally protected by the tibia and the calf muscle. You normally don't break the fibula unless you break the tibia as well. It's just one of those rare occurrences that can't be foreseen.

Ram, thanks for the anatomy lesson. So basically this was a freak injury? You hear a lot about shoulder separations, ACL and MCL injuries, how often do we hear about Tibia/Fibula injuries in football? Someone mentioned Buckley from CovCath last season. Any other kids across the Commonwealth suffer this injury?

Good luck Josh, I'll say a prayer for you to have a speedy recovery.

Now, Tib/Fibs are more common. It is not that uncommon to have a fractured Tib/Fib in football. I was only saying that shin guards would not have prevented Connor's fibula injury. If you fracture your tibia you have a very high probability of fracturing your fibula as well, but not vise verse.

I am very sorry to learn of this young man's injury. Never want to see any kid get hurt. Wish him the best and a good solid recovery.
