Friday, 11/14 will be the 4th consecutive season Scott County will play Cooper in November. Year one was a running clock game in favor of the Cards, but it’s been all jags since. Scott County is coming off a 48-7 Wallop of Conner. They didn’t have to do much to win that one, and their starters were out of the game to start the second half. Cooper also played Conner in distress play. They won that game 49-14, so overall they preformed about the same. On the other side, Cooper took down South Oldham in rather unimpressive fashion. The final score was 28-14. The key to Cooper’s win was the field position battle. Cooper was able to pin South Oldham deep and in turn get great starting field position a couple times. in Scott County’s game vs South Oldham it was similar in the first half. South Oldham hung around and only held an 8 point deficit at half. Then, Scott County exploded in the 3rd quarter and put the game out of reach. Scott County has no issues moving the ball on Cooper even in their losses, and Cooper has no issues moving the ball on Scott County. This will be a barn burner. Does a healthy Cards team go to Union and even up the rivalry? Or does Cooper hold them off and advance to round 3?

This is pretty similar to last year if my memory is correct. Cooper ended up breaking away in the second half. If they lose this game this season will be looked at as a failure.

Won’t be easy with SC coming to town if they win!

I watched the game back, and there really isn’t much to say. Conner did well against the fullback in terms of not letting up the huge gains but they didn’t get close to stopping him either. Caleb Florence being back to lead our D-line in the run game is HUGE! He’ll be needed if SC wants to beat Cooper. Passing game looked better. good to get some live reps even if the game is more or less over. All in all, Scott County handled business and left with everyone healthy. All you can ask for!

Scott County continues their first round playoff success! That is now 18 straight seasons with at least one playoff win! I haven’t seen a single play from this one, I will have to watch tomorrow and see what went well/didn’t go well. Assuming nothing crazy happens, the Cards will be in Union looking to tie up the recent rivalry with Cooper at two a piece. Go Cards!

This game will be similar to their meeting two seasons ago. I predict 56-7 Cards. Get JV in fast. You went into Union with all your top players dead last year, can’t have that happen again!

Cooper by 21. South Oldham will have a long drive to open game that ends in 7 which keeps them around for a bit, but Cooper is Cooper.

If GC can run the ball effectively with Ballard….ahh nevermind.

Conner is traveling down to Georgetown yet again to face the Scott County Cardinals to open the playoffs. Last season, Scott County won in a barn burner 47-40. Now Junior Timmy Emongo had a key interception to ice the game, but then senior Buddy Collins was the star. He played an excellent game in only his 3rd game all year to give the Cards their opening round victory. The skill level of the teams are much further apart this season. Scott County played a challenging schedule and managed a 7-3 record. Conner played a pretty tough schedule as well, but lost all of their games vs good opponents, Usually via running clock. Scott County is eyeing round four with Cooper. The series is currently 2-1 Cooper, but SC has their best team since the 2022 team that was able to running clock Cooper. Cooper is also slightly down after losing some elite firepower to graduation. On the other side, Conner is looking at an opportunity to play Woodford if I’m not mistaken. If they are able to pull off an upset this would be a monumental moment for their program. SC has been a throne in their side for a few years now, they would love to finally win one. Will SC roll Conner, and confirm another date in Union? Or will Conner upset SC marking the Cards first round 1 loss since ‘07?

Every other class is great at the Frosh level here. Looks like the trend continues.

Both teams are looking for any momentum possible before playing two monsters to open the playoffs. Conner will be heading to Scott County for the 3rd season in a row, they lost by 50+ two years ago. Last season, the game was a barn burner, a late Timmy Emongo INT sealed the win for SC 47-40. However, SC is much better this year while Conner has gotten much worse. A running clock is likely. Henry Clay is a school that had some really good years but has hit the deep end. 6A football is more fun when the Lexington schools are good! Hopefully they return to high level football sooner than later. Henry Clay hasn’t played close football in November recently, and unfortunately not much will change this season barring a miracle. In this game, you have to go with Conner. They have more talent, and have played some top tier competition. Conner 28 Henry Clay 14

That game will be a one possession game either way. As McKee says, block a punt and you’ll win the game. That’s what SC will be repeating to themselves all week after they deal with Conner.

Legendary coach of Scott County! Not sure why the Hampton brothers moved away from Scott County, but definitely wish they stayed!

I mean….Woodford beat a team you don’t even have in consideration by about 40 inches a few weeks ago. Looks wide open to me.

In an alternate universe Ballard from GC is FB, and you have Emongo, Hampton as the two halfbacks. That running attack would be impossible for a high school defense. Scott County runs their fakes so well even if the running defense is good, they’ll get there big plays no matter who they’re playing. I don’t see our defense holding well to be honest. It would have to be a high scoring game for us to win based off our run defense the last few weeks.

Hampton is from the Gtown area, wish he played for us! I think it’d be a shootout. Winner is anyone’s guess.

Scott County lost by a long yard to the #1 team in 5A. They’re separated by 4 spots. Crazily enough, I’m not sure that’s wrong. These games coming up in November will be decided by inches!

McKee only calls offense, so yes. Both were true, but SC got one more possession than Highlands. If they cash in and got the ball moving using their better players, they more than likely win.

They over complicated their play calling process.Therefore, they failed on key downs and didn’t put up enough points.
