IMO, Highlands needs to have a dominating showing in this game. Otherwise, there will be serious question marks as to whether or not they will make any sort of run in the playoffs. If Dixie can shut down the Highlands run game, or at least keep it limited, forcing the Birds to throw the ball, this one could be interesting.

Especially the stat that shows Conner has not beaten any halfway decent teams so far.

One play does not make or break a game. Male had an opportunity to step up and shut down that final drive by Trinity. The opportunity was there for both teams on that drive. In the end, Trinity took on the challenge and 96 yards later, they won the game.

The Birds have shown their hand on offense in the games leading up to this one. I think vanilla is just the flavor of choice for the Highlands OC. There is nothing bold or dynamic in the pantry that is going to be added because that cupboard is bare.

It also looks like SK is worse than 'some' believe...

I'm not sure is was a "great time to try it". Punt the ball, trust your defense. There was no reason to roll the dice and give Ryle great field position and a huge momentum swing. Just my opinion.

All variables that have to be considered and weighed when making the call. The call was made, the execution was less than perfect, the play failed, Ryle is set up with great field position to go in to score. A game changing decision that was not necessary at that point in the game.

Why call a fake punt at your own 40? Not ready for prime time play calling for the Bluebirds.

Mercer County only rosters 39 total players and 9 seniors. Small and inexperienced and sill hung 40 on SK.

Cov Cath wins this one big. SK has allowed a ton of points to two very mediocre teams. Cov Cath has allowed fewer points against far superior competition.

Cov Cath gave up fewer points to Highlands than SK is giving up to Mercer County. That is an ouch!

I like the Birds chances in this one, but I'd be even more confident if Lorenzen was being utilized to his fullest potential, playing on both sides of the ball. He is a beast on defense. Why is this young man not getting an opportunity to play linebacker?

With the 2024 football season is finally here, which head coaches, if any, are in a make or break season with their teams? If expectations are not met, who can we expect to see moving on after this season?

I'm going to guess that Lexington Catholic prevailed in this one? Any word on how the teams looked?

How did all the NKY teams finish in the tournament? Are the final results posted anywhere?

It seems that many of the Highlands faithful are seeing this as a breakout year for the Birds. If they fail to produce as expected, will the head coach start getting fingers pointed in his direction as the reason the team is not meeting expectations?
