Final per FT Film and Broadcast.

Well the Birds defense shows up with several turnovers to hold Raceland scoreless and provide much needed good field position for some scoring drives not having to go so far.

Birds returned the beginning 2nd half kickoff to the house for a TD as well.

The offense was really not on their "A" game tonight which REALLY worries me for next week.  

That's 2 weeks in a row for me to not be impressed with the Offense scheme....got to get that fixed asap!!!

Way to hang tough raceland.

Very impressed with Raceland!  If not for the turnovers and the kick return for a TD this game could have been so so so different.

So being held scoreless with only 1 possession in the 1st quarter....finally hitting running clock with 8 minutes to go in the 4th...  Is that how you saw this game going down?

My comment wasn't meant to say that Raceland had a chance to win, but boy they could have made this game a lot closer if they didn't throw those interceptions to give the Birds short fields... 

What was the longest drive the Birds scored a TD on??  That's what scares me for next week....Coopers defense is going to be much better than Raceland and if my memory serves me correctly tonight I don't think we scored on any drive that was more than 50-60 yards...  Correct me if I'm wrong?

Congratulations to Highlands on a good win. Coming from the EKY area, trust me when I say that I have seen Raceland be a trap game for many teams and that's not just football, but across the board.

I don't know all the details at this point but from the thread, it seems like in a way both teams, despite the score, have something good to build on. It sure doesn't look like Highlands came in looking ahead to Cooper, making the plays they needed to make. And despite the score, it looks like Raceland has some positives to build on, hanging around with Highlands for a while. All the best to both teams!

Congratulations to Highlands on the win. If I remember right, Raceland played Highlands fairly close the last time they played before tonight. I really look forward to seeing how the game between Raceland and Newport Catholic turns out being played fairly soon. I believe that game will answer questions about the 1A race, particularly at the upper end of it.

Highlands offense continues to be sub par and non effective imo, zero chemistry . They say Defense wins Championships…

Well having a night to sleep on it and reflect may help my perspective a bit.  Offense last night was vanilla for a reason, namely Cooper game this week.  Did show some new formations that Cooper now has to work on.  Passing game is very suspect right now as combination of routes doesn’t make much sense and honestly not hard to cover.  How about using Tayden Lorenzen more in the offensive package besides blocking.  Kid is gifted and needs to become more involved.  May even a series or two here and there like was done last year for Litmer.  
 

People are not going to like this, but defense needs some scheme work.  Cannot set the edge and very susceptible to getting beat deep middle in the passing game.  Too many times the safeties are put on an island and left to guess which way to go.  Get out of the even front and balance your safeties a bit or O’Hara is going to have a BIG night.

The Birds have shown their hand on offense in the games leading up to this one. I think vanilla is just the flavor of choice for the Highlands OC.  There is nothing bold or dynamic in the pantry that is going to be added because that cupboard is bare.
