Ahhh a classic pull them in real tight make them feel as though they have a legitimate chance and rip their heart out. Rivalry game too, it adds up. That is why you’re the guru.

I will say the Blue Tornado faithful have been rather humble about this game tonight, surprising to me from the outside looking in I have to admit.

We shall see, I also think WKU would beat this UK team as well.

It really wasn’t that long ago that the Blue Tornado was just hoping for a win against these Cardinals. Tilghman is about 50/50 on the run/pass after two games but I could see them utilizing the run a little bit more in this one. Two really good SR running backs, could be a long night for Mayfield if they can get behind that big offensive line and wear down that front 7. I don’t believe it’ll be another route like we saw last year in this rivalry nor do I see a competitive one score game when they broke the drought. Blue Tornado 38 Cardinals 21

I had Grayson County to beat the Bearcats last Friday and it wasn’t even a contest. I look at this game and see another matchup that could go either way. I don’t think Danville will turn the ball over much and in what I see to be a low scoring grind it out sort of game, I’ll take Anderson County. Bearcats 21 Admirals 14

After the last few months we’ve had across the State, I’ll say that Mother Nature can have her way with us. Saw a chart a couple of weeks ago saying that here in Bowling Green we haven’t had an inch of rain in three months yet we were still above our annual average of rainfall. Yesterday broke that longstanding drought, very strange how weather makes its rounds.

Different brand of football in 6A, and in a County with 3 other schools, two of which that have rich program history it can definitely seem as though they aren’t set up for success. Hawkins wasn’t in it for the long haul, but Edge has been preaching from the start that he was in it to build the program but nothing has came out of it yet. They have nice facilities, a lot of students in the building, I’m not sure we can pinpoint the problem? Administration? Is the talent that awful through a school with 1.4k students, that’s hard to believe.

Are they a good football team? They haven’t won a playoff game since 2005, and to be fair this is Coach Edge’s 6th year they haven’t broke .500 once, and I don’t think 2025 will be any different so the frustration from their supporters aren’t too off base honestly.

I believe this will be the first ever meeting between the two schools. This is the first of two Hardin County schools taking the trip to the Smurf Turf this season as they’ll wrap up the season against North Hardin. Both teams are winless and both teams will be playing their county foe next week, a win here is needed. Generating offense against this Raiders defense has been easy. They did play their best half of football last week against Greenwood, shutting them out in the 2H. Could it have been some vanilla play calling by the Gators or did the Raiders finally make a good enough effort to make some stops. I like a few of these young Raiders and they’ll need to continue to improve, they are getting hats to the ball just have to make the tackles. Offensively the Raiders have been put in a chokehold, what I thought would be a better more experienced OL has looked very sloppy. The run game is nonexistent so teams have just been firing off the LOS to rush the passer rather than playing gap sound football to stop the run. It’ll be a matter of not if they can keep Isable up to facilitate to his WR’s or they’ll get shut down again this Friday night. Lightfoot will be the best player on the field and if he’s able to get loose it’ll make this game interesting, just don’t think it’ll be enough. Bruins 28 Raiders 14

In my experiences if the talent is equal which I’ll stand firm that the Purples defense can match up with just about anybody in the State, that sort of scheme just doesn’t work. I understand the motions and overloading formations can be tricky but at the end of the day you need movement at the LOS for it be effective, thus bringing on my bullying comment from earlier. Wise man once told me the last man with the pen always wins, but when they run the ball 42 times against Crossing and only let the Sophomore sling 4 passes it’s hard to believe Coach McKee has confidence in his Quarterback to make throws of substance.

They’re too well coached for one dimensional football to be the reason they get bombarded. Purples front 7 is tough.

Do I feel confident in the Freshman QB going on the road against a good program in Scott County? No, but I do think if the Cardinals believe they’ll just be one dimensional offensively and line up and try to bully the Purples they’ll be in for disappointment. It’s an interesting game and pivotal for the trajectory of both teams moving forward. I’ll take Bowling Green in a very close hard fought matchup, the defense or special teams will create a score that will be the decider. Purples 24 Cardinals 21

South Warren will have their way with the Gators. I do think Greenwood has improved and will be able to compete for a home playoff game with the Spartans now in 6A too, I like the angle that they have everything to gain and nothing to lose. The Gators defense looks the part, good looking front 7 with some speed to go along with their size. That’ll be the key to the game for me, if Greenwood can find a way to get some stops they may not get a win but they won’t get embarrassed. Offensively I don’t believe they’ll stand a chance against that Spartans defense, they do incorporate some misdirection and they’re more open to slinging the ball down field than recent years so I supposed some opportunities can arise but that’ll be dependent on some mishaps that South doesn’t normally make. Gators milk the clock, move the chains and get their defense off the field I wouldn’t be surprised to see a 2 score game. Spartans just need to be who they are and put them down early and often or they’ll find themselves in a position they shouldn’t be in. Spartans 38 Gators 7

Very underwhelming 2H from both teams, felt as though they were both trying to hear the final horn. Gators will have to face the stout 6A Spartans next week and the Raiders will get Central Hardin at home.

The Purples will have to roll with the Freshman QB moving forward, the confidence Strautman had in himself was minimal as is, after getting pulled by his coaches you can guarantee that’s completely gone now. May of been too short of a leash for my liking but I understand they needed some sort of spark and Davis did just that. Purples gave the Tigers a good test this evening, which you can’t ask for much more than that. Congratulations to Coach Wallace, hope they’re able to get him another trophy on his way out the door! Definitely has a team worthy of completing that task.
