Saint Xavier 27 Bowling Green 10

Featured Replies

St. X had a 17-0 lead at halftime but Bowling Green cut lead to 17-10 at end of 3Q. BG had costly mistakes in the 4th quarter giving up a safety and a fumble near endzone that set up St. X score.

Happy with the effort. Happy with the change at QB. Hate the result, but this actually made me feel better going forward. X is strong. Good luck the rest of the way.

Congratulations St X!

very good team.
For BG it was a tale of 2 halves.
First half Zero.
Second half FR QB Anthony Davis comes in and makes a difference!  Gives the Purples hope even with no starting WRs available.
Go Purples!

I think BG going to improve especially if get Barber back and I wouldn't count them out in November.

Anthony Davis (FR) is the real deal. BG held their own and managed some key injuries.

Impressive to see Zyrek Burton (ATH) play both ways as a freshman.

The freshman class at BG is loaded!

Purples will continue to show improvement over the season and will be a force in November.

No shame in the loss, but as mentioned before, they are 0-2 for the first time since 1985. Which is incredible - 40 years never losing the first two.

You’d have to go back to 1958 to find the last 0-3 start.

The Purples will have to roll with the Freshman QB moving forward, the confidence Strautman had in himself was minimal as is, after getting pulled by his coaches you can guarantee that’s completely gone now. May of been too short of a leash for my liking but I understand they needed some sort of spark and Davis did just that. Purples gave the Tigers a good test this evening, which you can’t ask for much more than that. Congratulations to Coach Wallace, hope they’re able to get him another trophy on his way out the door! Definitely has a team worthy of completing that task.

BG had to make the change.  It was inevitable.  They had 2 first downs in the half and never sniffed the 50 yard line.  First drive the FR got in they drove the field and scored a TD.  The FR had gotten alot of reps in practice this week.  After last week, that was just inevitable.  Needed to get his feet wet, so he can go to Scott County with some confidence.  Going to be a tough game.

The 3rd quarter was stressful. The BG offense had two short fields on their two scoring drives which were caused by special teams problems by X. Defense looked very good. Offense looked ok, Trimble seemed off in the passing game, but the running game seemed to be on track last night.

X made several mistakes in the third quarter, but then steadied themselves and reasserted control. That should help with confidence in close games going forward.

The defense, kick return  and running game were each very strong.

I agree.

It seemed like the Tigers got away from their running game a little bit in the third-quarter and tried to establish the passing game a little bit. They returned to that running game in the fourth quarter to pretty good results. The last drive in which they were able to run six minutes off, the clock was very impressive.

I thought BG did what they needed to do in this game, which was figure a few things out.

The BG defense continued to play well, doing so against an X team with considerable offensive ability.

The BG offense found some spark in the 2nd Half and did so with a FR at QB and a FR at RB at times... against St. X. That's saying something about those two!
