I think that Ohio County and Grayson County could be close if Hanshaw is still OUT for the Cougars. Unsure of his status but an interesting game if he’s unable to go, the Eagles are winless and dropped a close one to Webster County last week.

Would make a lot more sense than coming to Warren East.

I like the 2 matchups located in South Central KY. All of the others look like running clocks for the most part. Monroe is a sleeper team, not enough credit going their way. Tompkinsville is a tough place to win, may not be a Friday night but you can guarantee town will seem like it. That Campbellsville bunch can play some football though, their speed may give them an edge but I wouldn’t count the Falcons out. Then the 5A matchup with Greenwood and Barren County is a fun one. I don’t think Grayson County and Greenwood are similar but they both rely on one person offensively to man the load and I think Coach Myers and staff can bottle their offense. On the other side I’m not sure the Trojans will be able to do much of anything either, maybe a trick play or two propels them to a victory but I expect a very low scoring one tonight. Curious to see how Greenwoods front 7 looks against a big strong offensive line, I expect the speed to be too much for them but power can sometimes make an impact too.

Too young, those kids and parents on that side of town would eat him alive. If I were Coach Herron I’d hang around and wait for Coach Myers to leave Barren County, no way he stays longer than another year or two.

I know BCHS production is very good, but that 7 mountains sports is solid as well.

First time these two have met in five years, looks like this will be the decider for the 2 seed in 5AD2. Definitely one of the more intriguing games across the State for this Thursday evening slate. Both teams will have a BYE week after this one is settled. The Gators (4-2) are heading up I65 in hopes to lock up a home playoff game. I’ve been impressed with their defense throughout the season, their front 7 will give this Barren County offense a problem. Offensively it’s all on the back of SR Davis Chaney, very talented but after his contributions it’s very bleak from the rest of the team. The Trojans (3-3) are working for the same thing in their first year back in 5A. I know when you play their brand of football if you don’t have a QB who can throughly run the system it never looks the way it should. I agree, not much difference in talent between the two teams if any at all. Very loaded unit, and the offers may be impressive but it truly means nothing to their current team. That shows on Friday in my opinion, and to me that’s been the noticeable change to the 2025 season. You could tell their core group of guys last year enjoyed playing together and were in it for each other, I don’t get that same sort of excitement from this Blue Tornado team. Maybe they’re just not comfortable on the field with inexperience but I find that hard to believe with their abilities. Have to be in it for the right reasons, and it looks like a bunch of individual football being played. Hopefully they had a wake up call, and making quick work last week was a good sign of that.

Unfortunately I’m not, while it’s silly I know Aaron Fink wouldn’t even entertain the thought of our barbaric sport to take place in that sanctuary. Literal perfection on the pitch. Size wise you’re right on, which is why I believe WKU is a no doubter even though there are some decent lower collegiate stadiums across our State. The facilities are nice enough to give you that D1 feel while also having a capacity that doesn’t make you feel as if you’re playing in front of no one.

Football in a soccer stadium you say? We used to be a proper country. I’d rather a few of us from BGP go to a public park and line a field for our boys than disgrace our sport that way.

Two of the venues hold 60k, the other holds 20k. I assume you missed that wonderful 2010 ACS/Boyle 4A Championship, it was the perfect storm. They packed 13k in the Houch and it was easily the best State Championship environment I’ve seen, was electric and honestly gave me that Sweet 16 sort of adrenaline that you can find in Rupp during March for basketball. If that game would’ve been at either of the other two we wouldn’t have had anything close to what was displayed that evening.

I was born not long before the new millennium, not as old, though I am old enough to understand that #4 is an inconvenience. Doing online ticketing is fine but it is completely unnecessary to not accept cash at the gate for an event. Especially at the HS level, not a fan of that at all, cash is king.

They could figure it out if they wanted too. The city itself is an all around better atmosphere, not as much hustle and bustle plus the stadium holds the attendance to give the players a feel of a big time game. Strong beliefs on why it is hands down the best location but also understand that is not what the leaders of KHSAA want to do either.

Was just checking some #’s on the KHSAA website and it looks like Warren East has an interim coach, Greg Howard. Former Logan County AD, I do believe he has been working for WCPS as of late, unsure of his job title other than he’s the coach of these Raiders now. Makes this game a little more interesting, and depending on how this group of kids accept a brand new face in the middle of the year brings a new dynamic. I think the Patriots will keep it closer than I predicted above. I understand the staff that was left behind after Coach Hall’s dismissal was very inexperienced but a 3rd person making the decisions in a span of 6-7 weeks just sounds like a bad idea yet so very fitting for this program. Tough way to go out for a group of SR’s who were able to be apart of some winning football teams.

These two programs have been battling one another for a long time, it’s been about a split. Usually a matchup that gets very chippy and you can guarantee it’ll be physical. The Raiders (1-5) are coming off a loss to Franklin Simpson, they had opportunities to win but never seemed to capitalize when they needed to. The Patriots (0-6) may not win a game this season. There could be many factors that can go into why that is but respectfully as one can be, the team is just not very good. You can usually bank on ACS to have a few good lineman and a skilled back or two but there is nothing going on here. Surely they’ll be able to find the endzone a couple of times against a leaky Raiders defense to give themselves some sort of confidence moving forward. We’re more than likely looking at the 5th and 6th seeds of 4AD1, but even though these two teams may not be competitive in terms of noise in November I am hoping for an exciting game nonetheless. At least a big Raiders victory because like the Patriots their schedule doesn’t seem to present many more chances to check the win column. Raiders 42 Patriots 14

Similar to how they decide where they choose to host the State Title, they’ll always cater to the schools in their area. Just the way the KHSAA operates, especially football and I don’t see it ever changing unless you start to get voices from all over rather than just NKY. Just go take a look at the football focus group and tell me that I’m wrong, no regional diversity. There’s not a single reason as to why it shouldn’t be rotated within the big 3 (UK, UofL, WKU), ties with UK have just became stronger as time has went by and when you have a group of people making decisions for their own rather than the State in whole, this is what we get. It should be releasing within a week or two though.

Know the locker room speech for Coach Adler will be somewhere along the lines of “what do we have to lose.” That’s fair, this game hasn’t been close in either matchup the past two seasons, so the quick answer would be absolutely nothing. No reason why Tilghman shouldn’t win by multiple scores. Just a matter of what Blue Tornado team shows up, I know the Patriots weren’t of caliber last week but it had to feel good going in there putting the foot down and heading back home after some shaky performances by their current standard as of late. These Cougars are undefeated, they’ll give all they have and will be in positions to make the plays, whether or not they can do that we’ll find out soon enough. I like that assessment @Purple88 felt like the right time to bring upon a discussion with not much to talk about in this matchup.

Taking the Panthers in this one, and I believe that’ll put them in position to be hosting a playoff game, so kudos to Coach Q. Massive improvement from what I saw them out on the field last season.
