As an ohs fan, Graves has to watch out for Apollo and Madisonville too.

I will tell you this... St. X may not have a bunch of guys with POWER 4 offers but they will have a bunch of guys with Mid Major or FCS offers. We have a ton of hope here but we know this is going to be a tough 2 ball games to start the season then we have DC (which on paper should be a W) then we have Catholic. I will say that it will be a tough 4 ball games before district play.

Who will be calling the plays for Meade Co.? Is Coach Powers a offensive or defensive guy?

I think we are fine with either, Demarcus Jr, Ty Ashley, or Evan Hampton back there. It really depends on the OL. I think it will work, but if we get people injured then we can take a step back. I really like Owensboro, you guys (Catholic) and Apollo this year. I think everyone are pretty close. I might be bias and still give us the the edge but I really like both Catholic and Apollo too.

We will be good if our OL/DL can get us to where we need to go. Hearing Demarcus son will be QB. We will find out soon in our scrimmages.

Good insight Devils. I have them 6-4 maybe 7-3. I feel the same about us though, we are not as good as everyone thinks we are right now. Our first two games are brutal and we can be 1-3. Then we have Graves at Graves.

That sounds really really TOXIC. I really like Apollo coach and the kids on the team. Hopefully they can still win with that toxicity. Is it the principal or AD? Or both?

Just my thoughts. I'm an Owensboro parent and fan. I no means trying to say that's an easy W for Apollo. They have not had a winning season since 2022 I believe. They have been down in talent but beating some teams last year I think helped them later in the season. Like my screen handle TIME WILL TELL, but I really think this is a year the Eagles turn the corner some. My only measuring stick was Murray vs. Owensboro Catholic. Very tough measuring stick. Apollo returns a ton of kids back as well. Should be a great game.

I have talked to some local folks. Everyone I have talked to thinks Apollo has a team that can win the district in 5-A. They have a solid QB in Max Johnson who has 4 Div 1 offers, a solid offensive line, a fast receiving corps that can make big plays. Defensively, they will be big on the DL and their DB's are the most experienced position on the field. If they can fill the LB spot from Jamison Brown who graduated, then I believe they can beat us at Owensboro. We have too many question marks and we need to figure out our identity quick. Unfortunately, we play CAL and St X. I think Apollo plays Murray (W) and Heritage Hills (L), but a close loss at Santa Claus IN.

That's pretty good for a kid who hasn't started a high school football game. Kuddos to him. Hell of a player.

I think Owensboro Catholic will be fine next year. Might take a loss or 2 which could hurt their RPI. Looking forward to the matchup in the 4th week against Catholic. I'm really looking forward to all our city matchups. I think Apollo is going to be back. I think Edge this past year got a lot of confidence back in the program. Should be interesting with Wallace at DC. My kids loved playing for him here at OHS. I think the city is pretty balanced this year.

Can Bowling Green High School hold this game there logistically? I know as a Devil Fan they do not have a lot of parking and now you add Boyle Co fan base and a Owensboro Catholic fan base, not sure about Bulliett East but I know they have won a title recently and will have a huge following.

I think you will be right on this as well. I just don't see them hiring inside.

I just don't see Coach Payne leaving. He got all those players over there to Daviess Co. They won't leave DC for Catholic. Either way I hope it works for them.

I'll listen this time. Just curious who are you hearing? I would think they would want to fill this quickly as possible.

I'm actually shocked this job hasn't been filled with an inside hire. They have the people on staff to do this job.

What if your high school football program is good and the coach gets his players recruited by colleges at every level? I just don’t think it’s fair to say “we’ll travel ball has benefits and helps kids grow and develop.” What if our high school (Owensboro) develops kids?

Why in the hell did the football coaches agree to give up 7 on 7 in early 2000s and give June to basketball? That was one of the not so great moves in KFCA history. If we don’t have spring ball at Owensboro we will have a low turn out. Spring ball keeps kids involved and active. Let’s get rid of travel sports….

Yep. Thank goodness Moss kid is getting these players to come to DC. After this year DC will be looking for head coach. It runs deep there. If a coach loses talent they are out.

Did the Coach from Murray family ever move with him or did they stay in Ohio?

He is one of the best coaches to come through this area. I don't see much coming up from OCMS and probably a reason he left OCHS. I do think they will attract a big name or someone who can coach. They will still be competitive, just not sure if they will match going to the region finals runs they had in the last 10 years.

This is a really tough blow for the Region too. I would say Bradley Payne is the next HC at Owensboro Catholic. He use to coach at Catholic a longtime ago.
