  1. Full morning of work followed by distracted afternoon of work (as I'll be trying to follow the Cardinals in the NCAA super regionals) and then a happy hour for a departing co-worker.
  2. This is the one for me. Absolutely amazing. Watching what he managed to do with six inches of snow on the ground in the 2000 state championship game was something else.
  3. I kept cable because the non-cable internet bill with Spectrum was preposterous. It was actually less expensive for them to give me the basic channels. Criminals. I call about once every year to complain that they're cheating me and that usually helps, but it's exhausting. This is the most old-man post I've made on BGP yet.
  4. NBC is really tied in with Hulu already. Will they bail on streaming their new shows on Hulu? I don't watch a ton of them, but I do watch a couple of NBC shows as they air. If Hulu loses them, I don't know that I'll bolt for NBC streaming so much as stop watching them.
  5. Woke up before dawn to pick up my special lady from the airport; she immediately went to sleep and I'm now at the office. Hitting up both the Public Library and the Mercantile Library later. Have a book on hold at the downtown public library and I only recently joined the Mercantile Library and am going to swing in for a visit. Really excited to see it.
  6. He has a great mind for football and the program will miss him. As an alum of the school who saw he also had a great mind for teaching and classroom instruction, he'll be a real loss in the hallways. As someone who lives in Cincinnati these days, I'm excited to see what he can cook up at St. X.
  7. Per the article in the C-J (since I've not checked myself), Cantwell was 15-19 at Carroll County over three seasons, including a 7-5 record in 2018 that featured the school's first playoff win since 2013. Selecting a former UofL QB worked very well for the Centurions last time around. This one comes with more high school coaching experience than LeFors had when he took the job. I'll be curious to see how it goes for all parties involved.
  8. Yeah but it's the kind of 502 that you have to dial a "1" to get hold of from Jefferson County so it might as well be the other side of the planet.
  9. Don't know how the video feed works from NFHS, but I'm assuming it's a video stream embedded in a web page. If you use the "TV Cast" app, you can cast pretty much any video from any web page to your TV.
  10. Should be a great one. Jealous of all the folks who will be at Valley tomorrow night.
  11. Full day of work (even though a big chunk of the office is excusing themselves early to go over to the Bockfest Parade) followed by a nice night of staying home, ordering Chinese delivery, and settling in to hopefully watch the Dayton Flyers cement a double-bye in the Atlantic 10 tournament where maybe... just maybe... they can pull a miracle. Lol... nah, they'll screw this up too.
  12. This is a quintessential Szabo scoreline. Good luck Saturday, Shamrocks.
  13. The look of this field for the Seventh region tournament is in itself enough to make me wish I still lived in Louisville. It's going to be a doozy.
  14. I've always thought that Louisville's inability to keep pace with the growth of other big cities in the region had as much to do with why we could never keep teams than anything else. Although heaven knows why major league baseball never returned after it left in 1899. Maybe there just wasn't much energy for expansion when Louisville was contracted out of the National League. Baltimore and Washington ended up in the American League but nobody ever made a move for Louisville. I honestly wish I knew why that was.
  15. I also can't remember any specific games, but I also remember being in middle school (and maybe early high school) and going with my dad to high school playoff doubleheaders. They must have done those right up through the late 1990s.
  16. Favorite game: 2001 4A State Championship. Trinity 45 Male 19. My senior year at Trinity. Hadn't won a state title in 7 years and had been obliterated in the title game by Male in a snowstorm the year before. Most Memorable (and miserable) games *TIE*: 1997, #1 Penn State 57, Louisville 21. Three minutes into the game, Chris Redman hits Arnold Jackson for a 65-yard touchdown and somehow a pretty awful Louisville team has a 7-0 lead on the No. 1 team in the nation... Penn State proceeded to rattle off score after score, including a 36-point second quarter, to take a 50-14 lead at HALFTIME. Also 1997 (seriously, to heck with that year): 4A State Championship, St. Xavier 3 Trinity 0. It was really cold and really depressing, and a defensive struggle was settled on a Trinity turnover just close enough to the endzone that X could kick a field goal.
  17. We already have the King of the Bluegrass for that. I want the best of the 6th vs the best of the 7th.
  18. I agree. I love the "city championship" format. Thought it was a really good change.
  19. I can't this year but going down for the weekend is really awesome if you can manage it. I went for several of the games a few years ago when the championships were in Bowling Green. It's a really fun weekend if you've got a person or two to go with you.
  20. Very cool. Didn't expect all the history in there. Every championship game linescore going back to 1975.
  21. As pro soccer continues to grow in popularity, this less expensive way of discovering and signing future talent is only going to become more common. I expect Louisville City FC will have a similar academy by the time its stadium opens in 2020, as ownership has already said they're starting one and are angling to get a women's team going in either NWSL or WPSL if the former proves not to be an option.
  22. The most famous “trick plays” in history were invented by some of the most legendarily creative and innovative coaches in the history of the game. Amos Alonzo Stagg invented the Statue of Liberty Play. The hidden ball trick was devised by John Heisman. I don’t think that’s a coincidence. A good play is a good play.
  23. Well, keep in mind that a word from me is about as useful around there as if I stood out on Floyd Street and yelled what plays UofL should run.
  24. Deuce, you’re putting in work tonight. I’m going to put word in over there about having you made an honorary alum.
