  1. You do. He put in last time when they hired Harris but either did not receive an initial interview or only made it through the first round.
  2. Some rumors are swirling that there have been 17 applicants put in for the position. A hiring time is working to narrow down the applicants but interviews haven't been coordinated yet. At this rate, the team will miss out on spring practice. I have heard that they attempted to open the weight room but only 4-6 kids show up, none of which received considerable time in the past. Whoever takes this job will be fighting an incredibly steep uphill battle to change the culture and try to draw in players. Rumors around returning starters planning to move or making comments they won't play.
  3. Agreed. I don't think WH record represents them as a team seeing their schedule.
  4. Western Hills (4-1) will host the Rockets (2-4) for a chance to earn a spot in the district post season. Both teams coming off big loses, WH 0-38 to district opponent Spencer, SC 7-50 to district opponent Franklin. Both are winless in the district with a lot riding on this game. The Rockets will roll into town with a heavy run game led by #5 Giaonni Hunter who has already eclipsed the 1,000 yard rushing mark. They will also bring 2nd year standout, #11 Issac Estrada at the MLB position. One the other sideline, WH have the #1 sack leader in 4A, Javeon Campbell, posting 9.5 sacks through 5 games. The Rockets have struggled giving the QB time early in the season, however, through the grapevine, starting senior QB, Chandler Hill, is no longer with the team. #6, Javon Hunter is expected to make the start for Shelby meaning they will have a seriously dangerous run game. The story tonight will come down to... can the Rockets give the young QB time to make downfield plays and can the defensive box of the Wolverines contain the big, explosive run game of Shelby. Shelby-35 Western Hill-13
  5. I think both NO and FC have great DLs. DEs Gavin Clark (NO) and Jon Griffin (FC) are both outstanding. I would easily rank them #1 (Griffin) and #2 (Clark) DEs in 4A. I think Trahan moves well in the pocket but I don't think he sees the field as well as Bullock when working the pocket nor does he look as comfortable throwing under pressure. FC has a big OL but I don't think they move all that great. NO has a smaller OL but when your QB has almost a 2.5 second release on just about every throw, you just have to get a piece of the guy. Both teams have big backs in the backfield and I think Moore (FC) is a hell of a player and is easily D1 material. I like Delano Collins (FC) in the secondary but I don't think he covers Schmittell. I know the score last year 38-20 FC on the road but neither of these teams are the same as last year obviously. This is a home game for FC so I will change my score prediction but I still lean in the favor of NO. North-24 FC-20
  6. I have seen both of these teams play this year. I am going with North in a close one. Both Defensive fronts are strong points but I think the Bullock/GS connection will give the FC secondary a tough time. NO-35 FC-20
  7. Hopefully they can continue trending in the right direction. I heard that they had an ex coach that was in Jefferson County wanting to move back into the mix. The #1 and #2 seed will have a very favorable matchup if district 3 is sister district, at least for this first year of transitioning.
  8. This was great, thank you. I did not realize Coach Brown at NO was out. Is there a reason? They played a close game against FC this past season and placed 3rd in the district. Eddie has done great things with that Flyers program and always has talent pouring in. With the exit of Central and all the info on the other teams, I don't see this district being as lopsided as years past.
  9. I think district 4 is a lot wider open than people may think. The additions of Spencer, who had one of their best seasons in a decade...WH, who just revamped their entire program...and Henry make it more competitive even after losing Central. It is being tossed around that FC has lost a lot and Ledford is contemplating giving up coaching. Shelby and NO were both very young and return a lot of key players. Will be a very very interesting district to watch.
  10. FC always plays a decent schedule, but with the addition of Spencer and Henry in the district and losing the players they lost, I think this district is a little more open than years past.
  11. I think Central takes this in a landslide. They beat the Mustangs during season 52-0 and the Yellowjackets tend to really pour it on during playoffs. They also had an extra week to prepare with Marion Co. forfeiting their 1st round game. Central take this 63-7.
  12. I think Spencer takes this one. Their run game, even without Cardwell, is still dynamic and explosive. I don't think Franklin has a great run D. 34-21 in favor of the Bears.
  13. The Wildcats have a top 6 running back in 4A with Jones but I am not sure that upfront they can control Vance and Grady from North. North is also with the number 1 DB in 4A in INTs so watch for him to shut down the passing game. I think North walks away from this one big, 35-8.
  14. Looking at this district, Central plays one of the toughest non-district schedules with games against St. X and Manual. They are using those to prepare them for the run into district and playoffs because they know they will make it to the 1st round every year. Their head coach doesn't put much emphasis on those games, same as FCHS I would assume.
  15. Agreed. He adds a different dynamic that will make their offense very hard to defend.
  16. Huge blows for sure. Not positive on the severity of either of the players.
  17. Franklin is trying to right the ship after a 1-4 start and a tough loss to Woodford Co. They were without lead back Moorman and shot caller Hurst but still managed to play stride for stride with Claudio at the helm. Their backfield is undeniably deep and talented but can they add to what they showed last week and grab a district win at home? Shelby is going into district play 3-2, above .500 for the first time in a few years. Last year they went into this game 1-4 with some big time losses. It started close until they started making some very costly turnovers and moral dropped. They will still be without leading receiver White but they have tons of depth at the WR position this year. Does Shelby have what it takes this year to be a district contender under new management?
  18. How serious are the injuries in the backfield? I know Moorman has committed to UK and that kid is explosive! Very bright future in Hurst as well. He is listed in the top for 4A.
  19. Both teams are going into this game 2-1 after starting the season on a losing note. Fairdale started with 2A state contender Beechwood before beating South Oldham and delivered a shutout against 6A opponent Eastern. Shelby started the season with a loss to crosstown rival, Collins, 42-28 before beating 6A opponent Oldham 28-8 and 5A opponent E. Jessamine. They struggled early and often against EJ with a halftime score of 3-0 before coming up with some big defensive plays and running the ball. Fairdale is coming in with a bend, don't break defense that chase the ball and cover well. Offense is touting a talented core of running backs and a connection between QB Tran and WR Shannon that linked up for a 70 yard strike the 2nd play against South. I think this one comes down to a defensive matchup and whichever team has the ball last.
  20. The district game against North is also a home game. The Rockets have 7 home games this year with a new staff and new facilities. Should be interesting to see what they can do this year.
  21. Don't believe he had any ties to Shelby football except some little league and West middle. There were about 8-10 applicants. 2 of the current assistants applied but were denied initial interviews.
  22. He was OC last year. Western went 2-9. Only wins coming against J-Town and Iroquois.
  23. I appreciate it! Been a spectator for years and decided to join the fun!
