  1. No! But…this Beechwood team is tough to figure out. Every time they get pounded by a team the first time, they win the next time they play. See Newport and HC.
  2. Looking at those numbers, it is surprising Coby Kramer was the all tourney selection for NCC.
  3. I wouldn't say thy had trouble filling it. They actually hired 2 coaches ?
  4. Having a Senior player as part of the interview committee is a great idea. I know this was done in the Highlands search a couple of years ago. The player was chosen by the AD I believe. That player rep was able to ask a limited number of questions brought to him by his teammates. The player rep can give input on the candidates as the other members of the hiring committee would. I think it is good for the "Grown Ups" to hear from someone that is going to be coached by the candidate. Realistically, how long will this search take? I assume OC and DC will stay in place? If not, this is late in the game to be hiring a coach if many changes are being made.
  5. JOAT doesn't like progress I guess.
  6. I agree but Keep in mind that the AD does not do any hire/fire in Ft. Thomas. That would be the Principal and Superintendent. The Principal and Super that hired coach Sphire are no longer in Ft. Thomas. Many things that were offered have been modified or have not happened. Mr. Caldwell is still in place but he cannot make that sort of decision.
  7. That stinks. Assuming the kids are back in school at that point, I can't imagine being able to have any games prior to the Varsity.
  8. Also, Coach Bathiany at Lex Cath is a Highlands grad. The cool thing about this series is they are going to incorporate Jr High games prior to the varsity game. I am not sure this game will be played on 8/18 or 8/19 but the intention is to make this a continuing series on the 1st Saturday of the season and make it a 3-4 game event between Jr High, Frosh and Varsity. No Frosh game this season. It may be added in the future. Very cool idea.
  9. 78 Combined free throws shot in this game. Brossart was 24-34 and HHS was 37-44. Highlands came into this game averaging 14 attempted free throws per game and Brossart averaging 19.5. Must have been a long game.
  10. Newport held him to 6 points a couple of weeks ago and McCracken Co. held him to 4 over the holidays.
  11. Scheduling Beechwood makes no sense for HHS. They already have out of district games with Lex Cath and CCH. 2 very good teams in lower classes. HHS needs 6A opponents to improve RPI to hopefully improve the chances of hosting games after round 2. SK seemed like a good fit for both programs. It is a shame that game is going away.
  12. Rising CCH Sophomore QB and Reardon looked good. Not sure this is a huge blow. Looks like this rising Frosh will play his old teammates. Should be fun.
  13. https://khsaa.org/2023-football-realignment-responses-from-membership-on-class-boundaries/ Looks like HHS will remain in 5A. HHS as a bottom 3 enrollment elected to stay in 5A vs. moving down to 4A. Wouldn’t have mattered as no 4A teams asked to move up to 5A. I predict HHS vs. CCH in week 2. Good early season matchup.
  14. HHS is currently the 2nd smallest 5A enrollment. From what we are hearing there haven't been enough 4A schools request to play up in 5A to make a 4A move an option. Guess we will hopefully all know in a week or so.
  15. Have heard the Highlands game will be within the first 3 weeks of the season with CCH dropping to 4A.
  16. Teams can't try to move down. They can request to play up. If multiple teams request to move up from 4A to 5A and Highlands is given the opportunity to move to 4A, I think they would do that. Have we heard of any teams that may be requesting to move from 4A to 5A?
  17. Did Lloyd have all players available? Nothing against Ryle but this one is the upset of the season by a long stretch so far !
  18. 61 in a half for 2nd time in 4 games. Birds can score in bunches. Some things to cleanup but these dudes can play!
  19. Miller is a beast but will obviously need help as the season moves along. Hopefully Kinney is ok and they were being cautious with him.
  20. I agree with all of this. Hopefully it isn't true.
  21. Rumor is Boone and possibly others they have been discussing with outside of the immediate NKY area. Again, no proof but heard it is being discussed so grain of salt.
  22. A couple of questions for the group. Hearing that one of the NKY 5A schools is proposing to not play "District Football". So make their own schedule and not worry about playing district games and thus not qualifying for the playoffs. This would theoretically help the issue above with one NKY team getting placed in a district further away. But..... 1) Is this even allowed or has it ever been done by a KHSAA school? 2) If it is allowed, would it impact RPI in anyway? I assume no but would they be viewed as an out of state school for example?
  23. Agreed. At least 3 teams have a shot. Any team that outsizes them and plays a good zone defense can knock them off. One dimensional at this point with only Ipsaro being able to score inside the 3 point line. Not good enough shooters. Will be a fun regional tourney.
  24. I hear you and as I mentioned, it is early. Let me clarify my point a bit. This team is not as dominant as the teams from the last 3-4 years. For example, I felt like no 9th region team had a realistic chance to win the 9th other than CCH last season. I do not feel like that is the case this year at this point. Just my opinion!
