The one thing that Mayfield is great at... is taking the biggest threat off the board for the opposing team. I've been in the state of Kentucky since '97 and I've only seen Mayfield get beat by one player twice, Travis Atwell in 1999 and D'Mauriae VanCleave. Both of these players were Mr. Kentucky winners. Cam Hergott reminds me a lot of Travis Atwell. He is super smart with the football and can take off and kill you with his legs. It will be interesting how the Cardinals approach stopping Cam. I agree with the the consensus, you have to make Cam beat you throwing the ball. Easier said than done! The Tigers also spread the ball around well and have skilled receivers from the limited film that I have watched. Excited to watch this game from the luxury of my recliner ? Good luck to both teams!

Over the last decade, most state championships winners have come from the central and east side of the state. Northern KY has been represented well with the likes of Beechwood (1A '16, '17, '18 & 2A '20) and Covington Catholic ('17 & '19). Highlands also makes the cut with their 'ships in 4A ('11,'12,'14). Out here in the west, strong showings from the usual suspects: Mayfield (1A '12, '13, '14 & 2A '15), South Warren (4A '15, 5A '18), and Bowling Green in 5A ('11, '12, '13, '15, '16, '20). This year, as semi-state hits this Friday, the west seems to have a really good showing! Not sure how much pressure PT will be able to bring. They have record just 9 sack all season per KHSAA. They seem to come up quick on the run though, registering 43 TFL respectively. I hope Tilghman is able to keep distance in the first half. They have shown they are a second half team all season.

Want to root for the Tornados but CAL is battle tested. I'm still not sold on Paducah's defense and the offense has not proven to sustain drives. CAL- 35 PT- 21

Murray had the turnover bug vs LCA…. Even on the Tigers best day, I don’t think they would have beat LCA. The Eagles were on a different level in the Semis… Too bad they had the turnover bug in the finals.

Reference my previous statement... you aren't the only individual that thinks/sees this. The "Morris mystique" is alive and well. I do want to also mention, I have the utmost respect for the Mayfield program and I know many of the kids. They work hard and have built a winning culture.
