5A may be the hardest of all classes to predict because all the teams have a different strength. I also see 5A ranking changing the most out of the 6 classes. Top to bottom, may be the class right now at least in the top 10 that anyone can win on a given night.

I like it. Nice ranking. I like the comment of 6 contenders. I believe so. Honestly, football is better to watch when they are 6 teams who can win it all.

Nice! No doubt Boyle at the top. Corbin and Highlands coming out strong early this season. I think Covington Catholic and Paducah Tilghman will climb a little. Highlands first game and Boyle first game will tell a lot early.

Interesting on the early loss for each coach. I liked the video I saw on Mayfield. They had some good plays on offense against Owensboro. I like Mayfield in this one and the streak is over. LOL.

I like Boyle County in this one. Owensboro Catholic is a worthy opponent and will test the defense of Boyle all game long. I think Boyle will still not open up the offense but just enough to get the win unless OC comes out and puts the pedal to the metal. Boyle QB this season I think will have a bigger role in the offense and the film I saw he looks tuff. Quick. I think he will just keep getting better every game. Really, can't get much better as he has already won a championship under center. I think Driver is a little much for any team to hold back for an entire 4 quarters. Be fun to see the matchups and this is a good test for both teams. Owensboro Catholic is looking for their own title, and this game will help them tremendously down the road against tuff 2A competition.

I agree with you but have to point out that Bowling Green last season played with CAL. So its possible.

Highlands Trinity Scott County St. Xavier Murray 49

I like this Pulaski team. I think Class 5A has 4 or 5 teams that are all very close. Talking about a year of games to watch. 5A will be very fun. When you see Pulaski, Woodford County, Scott County, Bowling Green and Owensboro playing one another, get the popcorn ready because it will be a close one... I think anyways. Could be wrong but the way I'm looking at it, a good class to watch this year.

I really like this matchup. Highlands by the two early scores looks to be strong out of the gate. I have always been a fan of Frederick Douglass. They flat out bring it. In Class 4A when you see that Highlands, Boyle and Corbin are playing Frederick Douglass, you can get a glimpse of the 4A playoffs based on the FD games. One note FD laid a licking on Corbin last year as both Highlands and Boyle defeated FD. Well, Corbin ended up being every bit as strong as either of the 4A teams by seasons end. So not always a tale tale sign but games I look forward to watching during the season no doubt.

I'll go into a little better detail. Running backs are fast and can break one on any play. Spread look is my favorite. QB is what makes is all work. Very versatile. Can throw on a run or in the pocket. He also has good wheels himself and being a dual threat QB is what makes this offense along with the wide receiver core that is available will be a hard matchup for the 4A defenses to matchup with. I think this offense will put up points and will be a defense nightmare to matchup with. Not saying they can't be beaten. Not at all but matchups will be a tall task to stop all the weapons. Defensively Corbin was in rotation with the Dline and Brown will demand a double team most likely and that will open up blitzing linebackers. They look like they have good size. That's what I am seeing on my end early. As always, teams can be not as good or better than advertised but early looking very good.

I think this is one of the best Offensive teams Corbin has fielded in recent years based on what I have seen so far. They look good from my point of view. Its early and still alot to work but high expectations no doubt. Defense is another area that I was paying attention to and they are trying lots of looks and I like that.

Western Hills will take the long bus ride to downtown Corbin, Kentucky and play in the 2cd game of the Pigskin Classic this Friday night in Corbin. Western Hills is coming off of a 3-6 season last year. Corbin is coming off a 10-4 season losing to heartbreaker to Boyle County on the road. Both teams looking to get the season started off right with a win. Thoughts? Most Corbin games are steamed on T107.3.

Few thought on last night. The offense has the potential to be one of the better offensive teams Corbin has fielded in recent years. Just playmakers all over the field and especially in the backfield and down the field. Salmons is really good at the QB position and the way he plays it, he will make something happen. I can see his confidence every possession. Defense looked like they were trying a lot of different looks, and I really like that on a team. I think one thing to note from last season is this team will look a lot different by playoffs in a positive way. Looking ahead to the heart of the season, some nice matchups against Pulaski, Johnson Central and Frederick Douglass. This is a team that can go the distance in 4A for this 2026 year. The two scrimmages have been very positive. Scoring will not be a issue for this team.

Corbin has one of the best offenses in the state primarily because of QB Kade Elam. Frederick Douglass is known for its defense. Unlike last year's contest where it was a war of two defenses, I think the first team to 21 points wins this game. I'll take Corbin in a hard-fought contest.

I haven't heard anything. But I say no.

I think this will be interesting matchup. Pulaski is no doubt a team on the rise. Corbin is playing with a full head of steam right now and getting better each game themselves. I think QB play for Corbin is the difference in this one and will be for most matchups. I'm interested in seeing what Pulaski defense trys to do to stop Corbin's passing attack.

Hopefully this is resolved soon.

Awesome job Se7ens on the thread. I think this game will help improve both teams for a run in the playoffs. Lexington Catholic is in my opinion one of the top teams to keep an eye on in Class 3A. Last season I sat at and watched the game at Lexington Catholic and really was impressed with how they limited Corbin's offense. I think the key to this game is just that to limit Corbin's offense possessions and keep it a low scoring game. Corbin is coming off two nice wins in a row for the new Coach Salmons. He has the Hounds playing fast paced and looks to have them defensively sound early after a heavy graduation last season. Coming off an impressive scoring performance against North Hardin. After fumbling the opening kickoff and giving up a score with less than :30 seconds off the clock, Corbin goes on to score 52 points to 18 over the next 3 1/2 quarters to win 52-25. Good luck to both teams. Should be another packed house in the new stadium at Campbell Field.

Southwestern. I think this is the first time I have seen Southwestern score 0 points to start the season. Credit North Hardin though. They must have dialed in the defense before the season started.
