The Flyers head over to Georgetown to take on the Cardinals Friday at 7:30 PM.

Franklin is coming off a disastrous performance in their scrimmage vs CAL. The youth of the team was on full display en route to a 42-0 victory. This was only through 2 quarters of football... The inability to stop the run in any fashion was the biggest red flag. Offensively, there was nothing. From my understanding there was zero positives to take from either side of the ball.

Scott County may not be CAL, but they run the ball better than any team in the state. They suited up against Campbell County and won 28-0 in varsity in varsity play. The varsity offense looked sharp considering they rested Mr. Kentucky candidate Timmy Emongo, and only got 4 drives, scoring on each one.

Defensively, Lucas Fint did not play NT to shore up that defensive line, hopefully a healthy scratch situation just as Emongo. This exposed depth issues for the Cardinals. Campbell County was able to run inside zone effectively but they could never consistently move the ball, even with Scott county playing 20+ guys throughout the varsity portion to get everyone with a shot at playing a look.

Now onto this Friday. Franklin County beat the Cards in 2021, and 2024. 2021 was an absolute blowout that McKee never saw coming, and 2024 was a game derailed by suspended players, and SC losing their best player on play #2. The Cardinals beat the Flyers in 2022, which was the only close game of the series. Now we enter game #4 and making it to Kroger field is an expectation on both sides.

CAL is head and shoulders above a lot of teams in Ky. Franklin Co lost some experience and explosive playmakers. The talent is there but they are young. Scott County has several playmakers that can impact the game on any single play. Playing Scott Co Week 1 isn't ideal, no doubt there could be frustration but last year Franklin didn't show well in the scrimmage against CAL and made a undefeated run to the state championship game only to run into a buzz saw of Boyle Co. I'm not ready to claim that's the case this year but win or lose, FC will come to work. I hope it's a good clean game with no injuries. I'm looking forward to seeing the new field. Friday nights are special when the lights come on, let's see what takes place this Friday. Go Flyers!!!

Let’s be real outside of Trinity, and Boyle County is there anyone who will even keep a close quarter to CAL? FC did play against a CAL team with probably a legit 6-10 D-1 players, 2 which were JR All-Americans last year and 1 upcoming JR who’s top 5 in the Country as we speak. Not putting too much into the scrimmage.

That may be true, but if you can’t stop CAL’s run game, it’s hard to expect you to go out next week and stop Scott County.

Manual lost to them 10-6 in the first scrimmage last week. 2 quarters.

Eddie James does a great job of preparing his guys to compete and they usually play well right out of the gate. In typical Flyers fashion, I expect them to put up a fight, but ultimately the Cards will prove a little too much to handle.

A big night by Emongo would really boost his Mr. Football profile. I think he springs loose a time or two this Friday.

CAL is going to demolish lots of very good teams this year. So no shame for Franklin Co lining up against one of the best teams in the state and taking it on the chin. They’ll be hungry.

My money is on the Cards, but Franklin Co has built a winning culture and that can’t be undervalued. Especially early in the season. I think it will be a great game to watch.

I agree with you but have to point out that Bowling Green last season played with CAL. So its possible.

I'm going to go with Scott County in this one. I think Franklin has a passing game that could give them some problems, but with the addition of Dantzler I think Scott Co will be improved on the defensive side of the ball.

From the first spring practice it’s “Beat Franklin on 3”. 2021 was a horrible, unacceptable loss and McKee was the first to say it. No players remember that game, but Emongo and a few others remember the 2024 game which was lost before it began. This is the most uneven the teams have been in the now 4 matchups in my opinion. 42-21 Cards.

This was definitely the McKee version of that! The 2021 game is surely still being spoken of in practices today as it was in 2022 for the lead up to this game.
