Two years after leading Todd County Central to a regional final appearance, Nick Suttle has been informed he will not be retained as head coach of the Lady Rebels program.

With all due respect, Great Crossing was no better than fourth going into the season in the 11th region with Holman. I don't feel this move has now made the 11th region wide open. Bryan Station, Madison Central and Frederick Douglass were all substantially better than Great Crossing with Holman. Scott County might not beat Great Crossing this season, but in 26-27 they will go back to being the best team in Georgetown.

The one time 5 or 10,000 NIL stipend he will receive will be all worth it.

Who is the front runner for the Shelby County position.

This will be Coach Kochendoerfe first head coaching job. Currently he is manager at a local steakhouse in Morehead, Reno's. With the lack of head coaching experience, Coach Kochendoerfe is well immersed into the Rowan County basketball program as he is a trainer in the area, he has worked with virtually every kid coming through the system at some point. He was a stand out player in Ohio before coming to the area.

Shelby County is now open.

With Bath County naming Jared Gambrel head coach, fellow 61st district mate, Rowan County is the only school left in the state yet to name their coach for next season. Gambrel, returns to Kentucky from Oklahoma where he was head coach at Byng High School in Ada, Oklahoma.

A prominent name in the area, Critchelow takes over the Aces.

Boone was reportedly dealing with back spasms both prior to and during the first game in Lexington. I would venture to say that if the locations of the games were reversed, he still would have played in the Lexington game — as would our esteemed Mr. Basketball.

As for Moreno, it feels as though we’re expected to be grateful just for the chance to see him play in Lexington as he “put on for the region”. That kind of attitude comes across as entitled and self-important. I wouldn’t be surprised if Mark Pope’s influence played a role in this as well.

Eddie Gilbert II takes over for the departed John Wheat to lead the Yellow Jackets basketball program. A 2009 graduate of Middlesboro High School, he has been an assistant of both boys basketball and football at Middlesboro.

Moreno and Boone did not participate in the second game. If a player is unwilling to compete in both games, then they should not be permitted to play in either—regardless of their collegiate commitments. This reflects a complete disregard for the integrity of the process, and it’s deeply disappointing that those in charge continue to allow and accept such actions as if they are justified.
