Look I'm all for hyping kids up and being interested in local kids being recruited. But this is just a flat out lie, I pay for about 5 buckeye recruiting sites I can say for a 100% fact this kid has never talked to a buckeye analyst yet alone a coach or someone recruiting. And I can say the same thing for Penn state without having access to their boards because they are arguable one of the top TE schools in the country. Both these schools recruit TE nationally, the freaks of the freaks. Outside of that he does have some D1 interest and has visited Wisconsin, UL and UK. All for celebrating kids, don't have to lie to do it.

If you're a CCH parent I can see maybe an issue, we heard the same rumblings with the old staff. But the truth be told it's always gonna attract kids from all over the area. This is a huge pickup though, averaged 19 PPG. Broke school record for 3s and coming from a basketball family. I expect to see colonels as heavy regional favorites now!

Several people in here focused on strictly the football part. No football player would pick them over CCH. Has nothing to do with beechwood, anybody's class etc. Pretty simple the kids coming up that are pretty good at both, will now consider playing time, coaching staffs, essentially everything across the board and make the decision. When before it was already decided because do no football. You mix that with the silly addition and yes St.Henry is gonna get quite a few more athletes.

I think the point is the athlete that plays both won't automatically take st Henry out of the equation. They were missing out on a crap ton of football athletes that you never know they might get now.

I played against Faust for years, talk to him every single time I see him. Great coach, even better guy. I think naturally as you get older and towards the end of your run, you lose some steam. Not only within your locker room and huddles. But your name doesn't hold as much weight. Tim is the clear top coach in the area with Scott and Dave being done. And now placed somewhere that won't hold him back when it comes to athletics and also getting any kid they want.

I think that was the issue with it all. I'm part of the diocese as well, and the traditional diocese families hated their sons not playing enough. And In some cases not even making teams, I think they looked for any reason to get away from that regime(still don't get it). Some families are rubbed wrong by CCH now even though it's all under the same direction. I just think that with St. Henry having football and one of the best basketball coaches around. They can instantly be a power, think of several of these other big city regions that have catholic school that dominates. But then there's 1-2 other small catholic that aren't far behind.

Also a great point, won't be a full split.. but even if they are getting 20% of those traditional CCH families it's a big deal. On top of that any Boone County Catholic feeder why wouldn't you send them to St. Henry? Closer and it's someone you might have dealt with before.

Terribly weak district, I played in it. They can dominate that district, Dixie is the only one that will compete with them most years with him at the helm. So in theory yes they are right there 4-8 range easily as early as next year. Then only up from there!

His name holds some pretty big weight around this area. Think of how CCH is getting a lot of their top end kids in the last 5-10 years. Sully is now able to do the same thing at St.Henry. That's been a thing forever, it's always easier to recruit to the diocese whether you wanna say it like that or not. You tell me what programs and coach you would put above the crusaders when it comes to trajectory?

Well let's see the coaching style alone is gonna get more out of the talent they already have in the system. How demanding he is, the type of structure he provides the kids in the locker room, on the court etc. Not to mention he is a defensive first coach. Playing hard and being in the right spots are what it's all built on. Yes it might take a couple years for some kids with more talent to come. But he can win with they already have!

This is huge for St. Henry, any person with sports knowledge can see what is on the horizon for them. With Sully you are attracting kids from all over into the Catholic system, he is gonna have kids coming from multiple districts. Then the football program starting up is huge as well, gonna get all kinds of 2-3 sport athletes that would have never came to St. Henry before. The combination of the two I expect this program to be top 3 year in and out for the 9th region!

Newport is moving to division 3 next year. Pretty much as low as it gets in NKY. Plays I think 12-14 games against the smallest of the small. No bueno if his goal is the league, and if he's playing with yamil who is also at Newport all summer it definitely doesn't hurt newports chances.

Yamil is also playing for wildcat select this year, so that's another angle. End of day he is a top 20 recruit in the nation if the goal is to just cash in on the new college system I get it. But if goal is to be league bound, I don't get coming back to play D3 basketball.

Yeah he did. As well did Richard Pitino in house from Xavier! But it's also AAU season so just because he is in area doesn't mean necessarily he's gonna be at Newport next year. But again with the Kentucky NIL rule and him gonna be going to college locally, I think everything is lining up for him to play at Newport senior year.

In Kentucky any athlete can sign with a school and earn NIL while in high school.

I know social media isn't everything to some of the older crowd on here. But to these young athletes it's everything. How they build their brand, how they communicate with coaches and fans as well. I follow TK pretty religiously on all his social media, and his Bio has something new in it. Newport '26, would be a pretty significant update. Would love to have this confirmed one way or another!

Is there any word on who might be in line for this job?

Honestly great point didn't even think about the Kentucky game. I think Tuesday night it will be packed to the brim. Should be two great games if who we expect to win, wins.

To piggyback off you guys I feel like this year won't be nearly as crowded because the region is kinda down. And secondly the games are gonna be pretty predictable I'd say. I fully expect Winner of CCH/Cooper will play winner of Lloyd/Newport for title! Also not as much top end talent, that alone draws people in. Think about James Bolden and TK just recently!

If X can make it out of the dreaded 7th, they have to be the co-favorite with Crossing.

The 9th is year in year out quite a bit deeper than the 8th and top end teams don't compare most years. 9th is way down this year only reason the two even can have this conversation most years it's not needed. Lloyd is severely overrated, and I don't think any 9th region team is a threat to the top teams in the state this year.

Acting like Lloyd is all a sudden on par because of 1 player and a solid roster is kinda odd. EJ is a stud D1 player but just now gaining the mentality to completely overtake games. CCH's wins this year and their schedule speak for themselves, along with recent history. I actually think CCH is heavy regional favorites after their play in some tournaments this year against stiff competition! Obviously Lloyd, Cooper, and Newport would be that group who could upset.

You guys do realize Cooper and CCH year in and year out have the best defenses? They pressure the best, they collectively guard the best, they create turnovers. It's a culture built off good habits and intensity, so yeah I'm taking CCH 7/10 against this team. Better coached and played harder as well, not to mention have the best offensive weapon in the region maybe outside of Andy Johnson.

Which is how CCH would beat them 7/10 times. No coincidence EJ dominated inside, Colonels don't really have that inside presence. But they have a lot of skill and athleticism that can speed the game up, which explains all the turnovers.

That's still a really solid result for Coach Thelen and the gang! Was anybody's game with 3-4 minutes left. Crossing is arguably the best team in the state.
