Simon Kenton 48 Lloyd 45

Featured Replies

27-18 Lloyd at the half. This game was very close to being a blowout. The juggernauts were up 21-5 at in the second quarter. Walker has had a good game.

SK with a layup to go up by one at the end of the 3rd. The Juggs are struggling to keep composure under the pressure.

43-42 SK with 2 minutes left.

The Juggs have to quit letting teams hang around. Recipe for disaster every single time.

Lloyd misses a 3 at the end to tie. 48-45 SK wins.

This is a good win for SK.

WOW.. A signature win for Simon Kenton to let everyone in the 8th region know they are still one of the top teams to beat come tourney time.

I think it is about time we have our yearly discussion... how do the 8th and 9th matchup this year?

Yea I think that it would be cool to do a weekend tourney between the two regions at the end of January.

4 plays 1

3 play 2

Winners play for championship

It would be really hard to pick the top four in the 8th region though but for Kicks and giggles I would set it up like this

Cov Catholic (1) vs Simon Kenton (4)

Cooper (2) vs North Oldham (3)

Lloyd (3) vs Woodford (2)

Beechwood (4) vs South Oldham (1)

Second Round

Cov vs Woodford

North vs South

Championship Game

South vs Woodford

I am an 8th region guy so I am 100% bias lol

Or even an 8th and 9th Christmas shootout at The Roy? Maybe even switch it up each year, with a 9th school hosting one year and Henry County hosting the next. Rather than a tournament.. make it like the "SEC vs. ACC Challenge" to avoid the possibility of district matchups in a Christmas tournament. Some fun matchups we could have:

North Oldham vs Covington Catholic
Woodford County vs Lloyd
Simon Kenton vs Highlands
South Oldham vs Ryle
Spencer County vs Beechwood
Collins vs Newport
Walton-Verona vs Cooper
Anderson County vs Dixie Heights

Have I been sleeping on SK that bad? Or is Lloyd overrated? I knew SK was good but I didn't think Lloyd would have a problem here. Any big talking points as to how SK pulled it out. 21-5 is a big point differential to over come against a pretty "decent" Lloyd team.

SK dialed up the pressure and Lloyd could not adjust and get into an offensive groove. Lloyd was well in control and was very close to blowing Simon Kenton out of the water. From the middle of the second quarter, maybe right after the technical but I'm not sure, SK started to turn it around and went into the have down 9 instead of what could have been 16 or more.

Lloyd just did not adjust. I think getting Elijah Collins back could help. He is talented and experienced.
