Wow, so that's what happened. I noticed that she warmed up normal but when the Raiders came back out of the locker room during pre-game warm ups Jones was wearing a shoulder brace. She played most of the first half, but only took 2 or 3 shots. Then she did not play at all in the 2nd half. Wasn't sure if it was the shoulder, clearly not. An elbow to the head, that is unfortunate. Unrelated, Gibson did not play or even dress for NDA.

St. Ursula does have a pretty solid PG in Callie Nichols, but still a surprising result. I am going way into the weeds on this, but...would be interesting to see/hear the shooting stats. IMO, Dixie is a team that relies on solid 3 point shooting, I am fairly certain that the OHSAA uses a ball that is very different from the KHSAA Spalding ball. Honestly most quality basketballs have a very different feel than the Spalding. I admit that this is way in the weeds, but could have been a factor.

Fair point, but I don't necessarily think the Pandas would expect to go 1-13 from 3 and 8-21 from the line, shooting 8% from three and 38% from the line, and winning a game by 13 against a quality opponent...that's definitely a surprise.

Gibson had 25, played awesome, Lawrie played great in all facets. Megan McGraw did not play. Pandas went 10 deep, most of the subs played at least a quarter. HC out to a 9-2 lead but NDA tied it by the end of the quarter. Then had a great second quarter. To give some context to the “rims shrinking” : HC was 3-21 from 3 and I would guess around 10-29 from 2/ NDA was 1-13 from 3 and 8-21 from the free throw line. All that said, Gibson was 11-12 and 3-5 from the line. Will be a fun rematch at the end of the month.

I could be wrong, but I believe West Jessamine lost their 2nd leading scorer to injury at some point in the last 2 weeks. I think their recent results show the impact of this loss. That being said, NDA was playing without Sophia Gibson or Megan McGraw, but received strong efforts from Stallard (20pts), Addie Lawrie and Eberhard. West Jessamine has a young and talented group, #15 Marshall (Soph) has a bright future.

Beechwood only scored 2 in the 4th it was 58-13. Freshman Annie Lawrie scored her first varsity point in her first appearance.

Yes, "jump shots" that's funny..., both teams played aggressive going at the basket and both teams played aggressive man defense all night. I would estimate 16 of Harney's 29 were within 2 feet of the basket the rest were 2 three's and free throws. McGillis scored 16 and didn't score a point outside 10 feet from the basket. I suppose Cooper is simply that much better at playing man without fouling... I would suggest that Isaac Brown was the difference in the game for Cooper on the offensive end as a compliment to Johnson.

Holy Cross wins this game by double digits, too much quickness and depth.

Lenihan will be back for the QOC, but given her injury hard to know how much Coach Murphy plays her this weekend. Addie is still working through her injury, likely looking at early January. The McGraw sisters have done well in Lenihan and Lawrie's absence and are a huge part of what the Panda's want to do on both ends of the court. Megan is a phenomenal defender, Erin just understands the game. Amelia Stallard has been very solid all year as well. The weapons are there in the backcourt for the Pandas (haven't even mentioned Burden and Eberhardt), just need to figure out how to get them working together, especially against pressure. Clearly that will be HUGE against HC and Cooper (and other top teams.)

Yes, was a hard fought, back and forth game. NDA by 1 after 1, Seton by 2 at half, NDA by 1 after 3, then outscored Seton in the 4th 18-6. I believe Seton took a 41-36 lead with about 2 minutes left in the 3rd, NDA closed the game on a 24-6 run. Holtzapfel led the Pandas with 17, Gibson 13, Labordeaux-Humphries 11, Lawrie with 6 (but strong rebounding and defense.)

Down 12-6 after the first quarter, the Pandas out scored the Eagles 51-26 in the second and third quarters to build a 19 point lead. Maya Lawrie led NDA with 16 and her usual handful of rebounds and assists. The Pandas put 4 girls in double figures and 9 girls scored. The Eagles were led by Mejia with 21.

Sorry, but I have to follow up, she played on Monday, entered concussion protocol after that game, and was thought to be cleared to play a Thursday game? Also hoping to see her back on the court soon (but probably not too soon...)

That is most definitely a huge issue.

When this class, the class of 2025, was in middle school the girls team lost in the finals of the NKYMSL Region in 6th grade and lost in the semi-finals in 7th grade...so unfortunate that they don't have single junior or senior playing.

100% agreed on that (myself included), I hope its a good game as well. I expect SHA to have last year's game in mind when they take the pitch...

Sacred Heart and LexCath are probably the "right" two teams to play for the championship, although there were 4-5 teams that could put a solid claim to LexCath's spot. When all said and done, LexCath won the games to get there. With Sacred Heart, when Chase is on the field, Sacred Heart has a next level team. This group of seniors for SHA entered the program with very, very high expectations and the talent to hang multiple banners. To this point, they have a state runner-up, no championships, but this year they are a team on a mission. They are beating up on quality soccer teams (Etown, S.Oldham), I'd love to see LexCath pull off the upset, but hard to see SHA letting this championship slip through their hands.

Interesting, Cooper should be good, but not that much better than the rest of the 9th (IMO.) Highlands will be good, definitely a top 25 team. I had heard that Assumption has an entirely new starting 5, I guess this confirms that...

Pandas get their season started with a win. They scored 2 in the first half and 3 in the second half. Riley Robertson gets her senior season started with a hat-trick, Megan McGraw scored on a free kick from 45 yards out (incredible shot) and freshman Emma Strotman scored her first varsity goal. Holy Cross had a few solid scoring opportunities that were turned away by NDA keepers, Melton and Hentz.

I am aware that one of NDA's D1 players is out for the season, but putting them behind two schools that aren't located in Louisville is laughable:).

How crazy "loaded" is this group? impressive

Yes, I was definitely clunky in my language regarding club volleyball and soccer. I was not intending to imply or state that it was the fault of the clubs in either sport. I was definitely not intending to say that. Just saying that choosing to play highly competitive club sports does create a schedule that can be tough to manage with basketball. That being said, there are absolutely many athletes and high schools that are successful making all of those commitments work.
