They have won every game by at least 16. The only game I see as even a remote possibility of a loss between now and tourney time is their January 5 matchup with Louisville Trinity. Does SC have it in the cards (pun intended) to finish the season unblemished? I don’t see any way they lose prior to Rupp.

I have no words. I knew Scott County was good, but this is some Golden State Warriors Warriors or Alabama football levels of domination.

Trinity, Male, and Saint Xavier will be in a class of their own until proven otherwise. With Scott County and Frederick Douglass gone, we could see a school like Simon Kenton or Henry Clay make a run towards the state title game, but the state champion will be one of those three until I see a reason to say otherwise.

Elijah Montero suffered a knee injury during football season and hasn't played. Josh Dotson has been out with a sprained ankle.

I want one of these schools to win the 10th, Pendleton for the preview of Allen at Rupp Arena and Robertson for the feel-good story of the small school in its first state tourney. I'll take Pendleton with another large point total by Allen.

Collins' depth past McKnight and Vail is concerning to me if they look to make a run. It glared in their loss to Trinity and their close win at Gallatin.

Moreno is now Scott County's all time leading rebounder with 1,162. This eclipses a decades old record set by the late Carl Collins.

I don't doubt they will remain competitive and I am sure the support they have will remain in place. But it will be interesting once the districting takes effect to see where they draw their talent from, although I trust McKee and Hicks and coaches to succeed with whatever they are given. Of course, if true open enrollment is offered, I don't see any reason why Scott County doesn't dominate 5A until they inevitably move back up.

Filled up a late 2000's Ford SUV for 30 dollars tonight. Had about a mile before running out and completely filled it up for $30. Wow.

Georgetown Middle School feeds Great Crossing exclusively and Scott County Middle School feeds Great Crossing with all but the Northern parts of the county. Most of the city limits, plus Stamping Ground and the western rural areas, will feed Great Crossing. When Collins was being built it was a pretty even east/west split with Shelby County and it is remarkable how successful Collins was almost instantly at the expense of Shelby County. I wonder if we will see a similar drop off here, or if the opposite will occur and Scott County remains strong?

Barren County and Meade County in a district should not happen. Oldham County in a Lexington district should not happen. Period. End of story. When I played, the farthest district game we played was one county over and about 30 minutes by bus. I simply can't fathom having teams drive over an hour for a district game.

My senior year we defeated our cross town rival. I was the TE on victory and our QB told the white hat we were taking a knee. Everyone on the defense stepped back and stood up.... except the 6'2", 230-ish defensive end in front of me who got in a four point stance and charged right at me as the ball was snapped. Thankfully nothing came of it, but I am very interested in knowing if this is a rule at the varsity level.

Gaither and Jones are, IMO, both top 3 coaches in the 8th. Vey optimistic for both these teams heading forward.

Final. Collins dynamic junior backcourt duo, McKnight and Vail, took flight in this one. Vail finished with 26, 3-5 from beyond the arc, and McKnight posted a near triple double with 17 points, 15 rebounds (as a point guard), and 8 assists. Titans begin the season at 1-0.

Final. Josh Dotson played well for the Warriors before leaving with an ankle injury. Shelby sophomore Trenton Burchfield was 5/6 from behind the arc for 15 points in the Rockets' first win in the Eddie Oakley era.

They will use a new stadium shared with Great Crossing but will still use Georgetown College when scheduling conflicts are unavoidable.

Since the inception of the six class system in 2007, this is only the 3rd time that the championship game features neither Trinity nor St. Xavier. Interestingly enough, both prior times had one of these two schools winning the title. 2013 had Scott County defeating Meade County and 2015 had Male over Lafayette. A whole lotta consistence among the 6A elite.

South Oldham gave South Warren 2 and a half quarters before the Spartans gave themselves some breathing room. Coach Smith is an outstanding coach just like his father and there is no doubt in my mind that he will have his team ready for the seemingly unbeatable Colonels, and while I highly doubt a running clock happens, I think CovCath will just be too much. I'll take the Colonels in a 35-21 shootout.

Scott County runs a confusion based Wing-T offense that could give most teams fits, but Male's defense has shown they can be very disciplined. I have no dog in this fight, but would love to see Scott County win in their last season in 6A. Give me SC 28-21.

Final. Cardinals will play Louisville Male for the state championship next week at Kroger Field in their last game as the lone high school in Georgetown!
