So what is going on with this program at current? The Warhawks are listed by the KHSAA to be competing in 5A District 6 for the 2019-2022 seasons, along with Douglass, Grant County, Montgomery County, and Scott County.

 

The Scott County Schools currently have no job listings posted on their website. Are they still on schedule to start competing in football next season? Has a hire been made for the football coach? Is there a staff in place? What are folks hearing?

I know it was mentioned previously on here that all current SCHS sophomores and juniors will be allowed to remain at Scott County until graduation, regardless of their location in the county, and that districting rules will take effect on all current freshman and all incoming freshman for the 2019/2020 school year.

 

Will upperclassmen who are located in the Great Crossing High School district be allowed to elect to move from SCHS to GCHS, I assume? I wouldn't think that would be very likely, given Scott County's program success, their trip this season to the 6A state finals, and their likely position as new 5A power, but is it possible that we will see any Cardinal upperclassmen switching over to become Warhawks?

Per the Scott County Schools website, students districted to Anne Mason, Creekside, Eastern, and Northern elementary schools will attend Scott County High School, and students districted to Garth, Lemons Mill, Southern, Stamping Ground, and Western elementary schools will attend Great Crossing High School.

One thing that seems to be a "concern" is that the program will be hamstrung and that SCHS is not going to really be affected is basically what we are hearing

Basically Scott County is over crowded and they had to build a new school but from our understanding it's been all over the place from there were going to be no athletics at the new school the basketball and football coaches are fighting it etc. but it's all hearsay...

I like their warhawk logo. My dad played for Westport Warhawks but school closed when they built Ballard.

Go west from Georgetown on Frankfort Pike (US 460) and the school is on the right, next to Western Elementary School. It is about 3.5 miles from Scott County High School.

I’ve heard that by the end of January they will have a better idea of enrollment numbers. The KHSAA just took Scott Co’s enrollment and split in half for classification purposes. Expect to hear how Scott Co has 6A numbers playing 5A ball over the next few years. It’s kind of like when Mercer absorbed Harrisburg and people complained about the classification.

It likely will only be for two years. After two years the KHSAA does the 10% reevaluation and if your enrollment has increased by 10% and it puts you into another class then you'll move. If Scott County starts out bigger than the KHSAA realignment numbers show then they'll obviously be 10% bigger in two years, which would move them back up to 6A.

Correct but it does mean for two years we will all hear the complaining. There is also the chance FD will move too due the same 10% rule.

 

There has been talk that Great Crossing won’t have the numbers to compete on the varsity level their first year.
