  1. How does it not mean anything? In this scenario, the two district finalists each played for a district title and both still made the Regional Tourney? I'm not seeing an unacceptable outcome based on using RPI no matter how it plays out?
  2. Here's what it would look like if RPI was used: Gm 1 - Beechwood (18) vs. NCC (151) Gm 2 - Ryle (30) vs. Dixie (147) Gm 3 - Conner (32) vs. St. Henry (139) Gm 4 - CovCath (36) vs. Highlands (82)
  3. Thoughts on blind draw vs. RPI seeding? Personally, I spat on blind draws. lol
  4. Until Dixie's staff gets out of the forced fast-paced offense totally or - at minimum - introduces some flexibilty and more traditional packages mixed in with the no-huddle (especially when it's CLEARLY not working), I don't see them emerging. If they do either of those two things...then I could see Dixie rolling. Will NEVER understand trying to force a system on a group not fit for that system.
  5. Final. Junior 1B Shawn Sowder’s RBI single in the top of the 14th plated 8th grade CF Tyler Fryman to give Beechwood a 1-0 lead. Senior P Sam Stacy recorded the win as he pitched two innings of scoreless relief, including working out of a 1-out jam in the bottom of the 14th. Stacy was one of 4 Beechwood pitchers that combined to shutout St. X. Sophomore starter Chase Flaherty (4-1) pitched six STRONG innings and a trio of relievers - junior Keegan Hutton and seniors Torin O’Shea and Stacy - combined to throw EIGHT innings of scoreless relief. Big, big road win for Beechwood!
  6. Been an interesting year so far in the 9th Region. Just wondering who everyone thinks will win POY this year? If I were to have a ballot, this would be my vote: 1. Cameron Boyd (Beechwood) 2. Brody Mangold (Conner) 3. Jonathan Fitz (CovCath) 4. Roman Furuta (Ryle) 5. Matt Kappes (Beechwood) 6. Dylan McEntire (Ryle) 7. Ethan Bosley (Dixie) 8. Bradley Zekl (Covington Catholic) 9. Jack Hendrix (Highlands) 10. Matthew Resing (St. Henry) 11. Jason Dorning (Holy Cross) 12. Brayden Stidham (Conner)
  7. Final WP - Chase Flaherty (4-1) LP - Bradley Zekl (5-1) HR - Boyd (11), Fitz GS (4), Lawrie (3). * Cameron Boyd's 11th HR ties him for the lead in KY with Breathitt Co's Andrew Combs * Boyd now has 46 RBI, which put him in the lead in KY by 2 in that category. * Jonathan Fitz hit a 2-out GS in the top of the 7th to bring CovCath to within 1.
  8. I hear you. I worked at Hardee's in Ft. Wright in the early 90's with a bunch of high school kids from CovCath/NDA/Ludlow/Dixie. The stuff I saw.....wow. I could write a book.
  9. Can't imagine the nightmare managing a fast food place must be in this era. Talked to a friend of mine who is a BK manager in the NKY area and he said it's a circus of never knowing who will show up, awful talent pool, unbelievable pressure from up top corporate wise....
  10. The KHSAA will include ALL district games in the District Record regardless of whether or not they're seed games. Ex. If CovCath played 1 game vs Holmes, 1 vs. Beechwood and 10 vs. Holmes, they would include 12 games in the District Record, but obviously only 3 COUNT.
  11. It was not, the seeding game is Monday.
  12. I believe Holy Cross still has a shot for the #1 seed under the following scenario: * CovCath beats Beechwood on Friday * Holy Cross beats CovCath on Monday * That would create a 3-way tie and the #1 seed would be determined by a draw Correct? I could be wrong, but - especially with HC showing life with their win over Campbell Co. and battling Ryle/Walton in the last few weeks - nothing is set in stone...yet.
  13. Yikes. Midseason. Any idea what happened here?
  14. Also, if you there there early on a Saturday in the summer, you'll probably be able to see Skyline Mike, Left Hand Jeff, Little Joe and Brother Thaddeus. The true GOATS of Yacht Club lore!
  15. Only the greatest place on earth!
  16. Would be a home run hire for Ludlow.
  17. Rumors of a plume of white smoke rising from the Beechwood steeple? Also, for what it's worth, Tom Haney and Jr. sighting at Bigby this morning. Coincidence?
  18. Is this a possible landing spot for young up and coming CovCath assistant Alex Shelton?
  19. I don't know the specific numbers on it, but it seems some of the most successful programs - especially Louisville in baseball - are going after the uber-talented 8th graders. While I'm sure there are example where this doesn't work, clearly it's paid dividends for Louisville. Aside from that, it's just another in the many "plays" in the playbook to attract top talent. I'm sure schools expect a good number of these kids to fall by the wayside, but those that don't.... One example is Somerset grad Kade Grundy, who is having a nice start to his sophomore season at Louisville. I'm pretty sure he was offered as an 8th grader.
  20. Congratulations to Coach Noll! McNick got one of the best. In an era when it was still acceptable to do so with grace and an underlying tone of care, there wasn't a man or coach that instilled more of a combination of fear and respect from every teenage boy he encountered.
  21. Now that’s a name I’ve not heard in quite some time ….
  22. Just finished an amazing shepherds pie at Greyhound Tavern and saw Chuck Smith eating fried chicken two tables over. Wonder if that means anything…
  23. But McGillis the Younger is going back to Cincinnati isn't he?
