  1. Anyone have any idea why this is listed as St. Xavier 2, Bowling Green 1 (overtime) final on KHSAA scoreboard?
  2. Well said...unreal how many uber talented freshmen there are around the area this year. Fingers crossed - like you said - they stay on the gridiron for the duration of their high school careers.
  3. Final. Another remarkable performance by Beechwood ATH Tyler Fryman, who had multiple touchdowns, including a kick return, a rushing TD, and a long TD pass to WR Caleb Arrasmith. Strong performance also turned in by S/WR Owen McCormack, who had an interception return for a TD.
  4. Interesting that so many are so certain this could be a competitive game, a running clock can be avoided, and - in some cases - that NCC could win. For those of you on that side of things, help me understand what is going to be different this year than in the last 7 of 8 matchups that have been largely one sided wins by Beechwood? Also, and this is the big one and has been mentioned a few times, how do the Breds', who were shredded by Newport's passing attack (that Beechwood, put simply, steamrolled) to the tune of 345 yards by Kyle Lee, plan on stopping the Tigers very effecting aerial assault?
  5. Biggest stat line I'm looking at is Newport's passing attack amassing 345 yards against NCC's defense and the Wildcats scoring 26 points that night. Put lightly, that doesn't bode well for the Breds hopes to avoid a running clock Friday night. Aside from that, this has been a massive one sided game since 2014. If you take out the outlier NCC win in 2019, Beechwood is averaging 40 points while allowing only 12. NCC has some nice players, but not enough depth to hold off this Tiger offense.
  6. If you were Lloyd, would you rather travel to Mayfield or take a short bus trip to Ft. Mitchell to take on Beechwood?
  7. With sister district play in around 1 and 2 - how does this affect 5/6 matchups with 5 appearing to only have Ballard, Trinity, and Eastern. Does 6A #4 (Dixie or CC) not make it or does 6A #1 (Ryle or SK) get a bye? Didn’t realize 5 only has three teams? d
  8. Agree on your assessment of the first one. Clearly sending a message. Looked like he was eyeing the kid all the way down the field. But the second...similar to a basketball screen? Is that really how you see that?
  9. The first one was DEFINITELY dirty, but, you're right, the second one was as well. Ridiculous on both ends.
  10. Beechwood ATH Tyler Fryman led the Tigers with three touchdowns - a 31-yard TD catch from QB Cole Coppage, a ridiculous 57-yard TD run, and a 25-yard TD catch on a beautiful throw into the end zone by QB Bo Sowder. Also aiding in the win were FB Brody Aylor, who scored on a 4-yard run, and RB/CB Nathan Pabst, who ran well all night and picked off two Lexington Catholic passes.
  11. Sebastian was VERY impressive. This team would be downright treacherous if they had a more polished, effective passing game. Will be interesting to see if Neiderman/Brossart spend the next four weeks hyperfocused on trying to develop some sort of a semblance of an aerial assault for possible Round 3/4 matchups in the post season.
  12. Respectfully disagree. Have seen six of the players you listed. He’s better and more dominant than four of them. You’re right though…fantastic young man, incredible athlete and a very bright future.
  13. This is correct. Beechwood's freshman team is composed of all 8th graders and freshmen at the school. The Tigers' one middle school team is composed of all 6th and 7th graders.
  14. There were several other options in terms of avoiding Fryman. No need to do that at that point in the game. None. It won't be forgotten by anyone on that sideline, I can assure you of that. Agree with you, however, on Fryman. There are alot of really talented freshmen level players this year, but Fryman is the best I've seen. The amazing thing is what he's been able to accomplish given every single defensive coordinator knows Beechwood is going to keep going to him. They double him, he still catches the ball. They put their best corners on him who stick to him like glue, he out jumps them and makes the catch. His second TD last night was an off tackle play that looked like it was going to be stopped after a short gain, but he exploded around the edge and outraced 2 Cooper fast DB's for a 57-yard TD. Not many kids can get the edge and explode the way he did on that play.
  15. Right. Always believe in this. But, again, if you're going to do it...do it right. I think that's a point no one can argue against. Yes?
  16. Ruffy38 does have a good point...if you're going to quote stats, at least make them somewhat close/in the same atmosphere. Doing otherwise is disingenous. If you're going to post stats. Be accurate or close. Otherwise just don't. It's a bad look. This is not a foreign belief. Also, no one counts rushing/passing yards combined and quotes players as "having 300+ yards". Just isn't done...so when you quote something in that way, it looks like something it definitely isn't. Stats 101. My guess is most people outside of this guy's friend group and the kid's supporters would disagree, but totally be appalled if someone else was doing it. Also, stating that is nothing against the kid. It's again the poster. Let's be clear. The kid is going to be a star on the varsity level. Also, would someone please get ahold of the ridiculous entitled parent that heckles the coaching staff nonstop and coaches his kid from the stands. I've never seen anything like it. Dude bashes coaches to anyone who will listen.
  17. He played the majority of the game, but Alexander came in late after he got hurt.
  18. That loss had a major effect on many of us on the field that day for CovCath - players, coaches, support staff. It was awful. No one thought we'd lose that game, especially after the victory at Highlands in the regular season. As a senior on that team, I still remember it took weeks for Coach Ray, Coach Noll and the other coaches in the building to really recover from it. Not many words were spoken afterwards and for a few weeks after. The downpour the night before and early Saturday really played into the hands of the Bluebirds. Aside from the field conditions really helping their offense dominate early - they scored on a short TD on the first drive of the game - it really benefitted them on the special teams. I really don't think Grimm returns the punt for a TD on a dry field. Our special teams were too good. If I'm not mistaken the Birds OL that day was John Schlarman, Darren Arnsberg, Drew Meyers, David Berringer, Rob Reynolds and another Arnsberg may have started at G with Berringer being the swing lineman. That's three Divison I linemen...the conditions were perfect for them to ground and pound with Corey Scarlato as our defense was smallish, but very fast.
