  1. Man, this just absolutely made my day. I've been looking for 92 footage for years and didn't realize this one was floating around out there. I've seen the Beechwood 92 game, but the footage is pretty bad on that...so this was a really nice gift to come across yesterday. This game was probably my favorite game of all time that I played in during my HS career. The atmosphere that night was unbelievable. There were so many people at this game. Will never forget how electric the atmosphere was... Does anyone have the 92 Boone County game? I'm trying to verify for my kid that that game was the first time Shaun Alexander played in a varsity game for BC. I believe - and fully admit I could have my facts way off - that Jason Colemire - their starter in that game - got hurt late in the game and Alexander was put in. Anyone know if that's the case?
  2. Correct me if I'm wrong here, but is Lloyd - or really, the #2 team in District 6 is coming years - the biggest winner in the change in playoff format to playing sister districts? If Lloyd, this season, avoids laying an egg anywhere in the regular season, they'll play #3 in District 6 (likely Trimble or Owen) in the first round, then, the winner of the other 2/3 game. So the sister district tournament after week 2 will have 2 teams remaining. In the scenario here, let's say Beechwood/Lloyd come out as winners after week 2. At that point, there are 8 teams left and the schedule goes to RPI rankings. Correct? My point is, moving forward, the #2 in 6A could - theoretically - now have a legitimate shot to make a run to round 4 of the playoffs. A feat that has been virtually impossible since the current district alignment was established and these schools were stuck with Beechwood in round 2 every year.
  3. I've heard from several friends at the game last night that Montgomery County's behavior throughout the game was appalling. No excuse for not shaking hands, cheering when a player is injured, and in general just horrid sportsmanship all around. Also was told that when Montomery beat Lloyd last year, they were throwing the ball up big in the second half. Sounds like some coaches and adults need some integrity fine tuning. Zero reason for any of this.
  4. Has anyone seen Berger's final numbers yet?
  5. Anyone have Twenhoffel/SVA scores from last night? Heard there were some heated folks leaving those two matchups (7th/8th) last night.
  6. With the caveat of completely understanding it's not easy to make assumptions about staffing, philosophies, and the inner workings of any team, watching Dixie's overall approach was perplexing. Like the varsity, they're attempting to run a fast paced/no huddle type offense. I've always thought that - especially at the freshman level - making that offense work is very difficult unless you ABSOLUTELY have the personnel to do so. Making it a package in your overall offense at that level, I'd get. Doing it and pushing it despite negative results and it clearly not working....doesn't make sense. If the staff was interested in player development, they'd get back to basics, run a vanilla offense and leave the "exotics" for a point in time when the basics were mastered. Felt bad for the kids last night..there's some talented kids on that roster that are getting lost in the system. That said, my understanding is - as noted above - there's never really been a focus on building a core concentrated staff for freshmen there. Interestingly enough, I'm hearing that some other schools are doing the same thing....and it's not working to great. I don't get it. Freshman football should be about both development and trying to win games.
  7. Final. Beechwood controlled the game the entire way led by WR Tyler Fryman and RB Nathan Pabst. Fryman scored twice - a 20-yard run in the first quarter and a 65-yard catch from QB Cole Coppage in the second quarter. Pabst added two short rushing touchdowns.
  8. If I remember correctly, he walked on at Notre Dame correct?
  9. Is Tate Kruer the son of 1991 (I think that's the year) grad and outstanding football player Justin Kruer?
  10. I am stunned. Just stunned. Congrats Pikeville. What. A. Win.
  11. The race for that #4 spot is going to be fun to watch. Lot of dark horses lurking that could shock. I would be stunned if it wasn't Owensboro Catholic, Shelby Valley or Breathitt Co...but stranger things have happened. My super dark horse for that 4 spot is Lloyd.
  12. C'mon...they whipped you guys 30-0 until their 2nd and 3rd string came in. Complete beatdown. What would it take to impress you? Also, you spent a lot of time praising the Pioneers OL....CovCath's is better.
  13. This Beechwood fan is not worried. Completely understand Rodriguez is a legit weapon, but Beechwood's defensive staff has made it routing taking out/eliminating the top option for opposing teams. I think they focus heavily on making sure Roberts/Rodriguez don't get hot tonight, when then leaves the onus on the Colonels running game to take control. I don't see that happening with the way Beechwood's defense has played so far. Also, keep in mind, Robinson is the best cover corner in NKY and Craycraft is solid on the other side...if CovCath is going to be able to move the ball through the air, it has to be with Rodriguez in the middle of the field. Beechwood 27, CovCath 13
  14. What's the early word on him as far as continuing to play football with his massive potential on the basketball court? Will he play both?
  15. He sure would look great in orange and black catching balls from Burrow wouldn't he? It's a perfect fit.
  16. Not defensive...fact driven. 🙂 On another note, I am interested to see Willie Rodriguez. I've always been impressed by him as an athlete/go to guy. How has he changed from last year to this year?
  17. Harney is averaging 12 pass attempts per game and completing 77% of those. Two of those games have come on the road against 5A Fairdale (3-1) and 2A Somerset (3-1). In those two games, he threw four of his six TD passes. Of note, also, he only has six pass attempts more than Pitzer on the season and 26 more than Roberts. Shouldn't the Colonel faithful, given those numbers, be more concerned with the lack of reps for Roberts? When you look closer at the numbers, it's very clear Harney is not being hidden in the offense at all. I also hope that the Colonels, while focusing on their run defense this week, spend some time working on pass protection. The Tiger pass rush, led by junior DE Xavier Campbell, has 12 sacks in four games. I would protecting the inexperienced Roberts as a big key for the Colonels.
  18. Regarding the statement about BW being one-dimensional, I think you're underestimating the abilities of Cash Harney and the reality that BW's offensive staff hasn't really had to rely on Harney yet because of how dominant the ground game has been. That has allowed them to really protect Harney as he got his first taste of varsity football. Why put too much on your young QB's shoulders early when you have one of the top RB in the state? But, don't be fooled, and I think many of you who saw him play for CYF and in the NKYFL are very well aware that Cash can sling it and do so accurately. Through four games, he's completing 77% of his passes (37-of-48) and has thrown 6 TD passes. I think some folks who are unaware of Cash's abilities are going to be surprised at just how good he can be when they do have to throw this week and moving forward.
  19. I heard this last night from both CovCath and Dixie fans. Both groups stunned that he wasn't ejected. No need for it, no defense of it and it needs to stop. We can only hope a concerted effort is made to educate him on how that behavior can not only negatively affect his recruiting and reputation, but, more importantly, get someone hurt badly.
  20. Wow. Wild ending. Must have been a heck of game to watch. Hope that's not true about the AD.
  21. Great game last night in the Fort! Congratulations to the very tough Pioneers freshman team, who gutted out the win vs. a very good Tiger freshman team. We saw a lot of future varsity starts on the field for both teams last night. The MVP of the game in my mind was SK's QB Torin Turner, who played lights out in the second half. Very tough young man, who ran tough, ran a TD in and threw an impressive TD rolling to his left (he's a righty) and firing a laser into the end zone to a young man (Jackson Miller I believe) who made a really nice catch. I was also impressed with #11 Farfsing, who rotated with Turner at QB. Those two on the field on the same time make that team very good. Beechwood was led by 8th grader WR Tyler Fryman and RB Nathan Pabst. Two young men that have had outstanding seasons. The SK run defense was stout and really hurt the Tigers chances of getting much done on the ground. Great game to watch, great sportsmanship and I expect big things from both groups of young men moving forward.
