  1. This class is stronger than it's getting credit for. And I would agree, winning has to count for something.
  2. Hate to see any of these young men get hurt. Hope he’s ok and can be ready to go in a couple of weeks.
  3. Why isn’t Jordan Mitchell playing? Did he get hurt?
  4. HUGE win for the Bears. Total team effort for the Bears who were down two starters and still led for most of the game. LaRue Co,, who was down a player as well, fought back and took a one point lead with 29 seconds left. Spencer County was fouled on an offensive rebound with 6 seconds left and hit both FT’s for the one point lead. LaRue’s final shot was off the mark to close it out.
  5. Currently Woodford would be the one seed in the 30th. They play Spencer on the 6th. Not sure how it will all play out but the 30th is definitely not a blind draw.
  6. Also from Spencer County, Keeton Baird is at IU Southeast.
  7. Recent Spencer County players playing in college would include: Jonathan and Jackson Combs, both at Asbury, Camden Cox at Ohio Dominican in Columbus and Jack Armstrong at Tennessee Wesleyan in Athens, TN.
  8. Spencer gets a big win at home against a good South Oldham team.
  9. Maybe a little of both? Chalk it up to the craziness that is the 8th Region this year. It could be a wild ride at the ROY this year.
  10. I’m not. I watched him play the whole game but he was wearing a different number than listed on their roster. Jointer was on crutches and did not play.
  11. Yes, he played the whole game.
  12. Spencer County finally gets a home game after a tough stretch of games on the road and gets a big win against Western. They are back on the road this weekend to play two games at the Hoosier Gym in Knightstown, IN. Should be a lot of fun in an iconic setting.
  13. I have seen them in Five Star Gas Stations.
  14. Spencer County goes on the road and wins a big Regional game against Oldham County. They were down 21 with 2:50 left in the third, 17 at the start of the fourth and came storming back to force overtime. In overtime they pulled away for the win.
  15. I can't recommend GHP-Sports enough. They do an incredible job for our sports teams! Looking forward to another great year!
  16. I'll agree that Spencer did have a stretch that they had very winnable games from 2016-2020. Although, at the time two of those loses came to Anderson County when they still had a Hall of Fame Coach in Coach Drury and one of the best players in the region in Cobe Penny. Then they won in 18-19. The loss in 19-20 was a bad loss. I'll give you that. The next year wasn't great either. But let's not get too crazy here and act like a traditional power is somehow not living up to historical expectations. All I see since Coach Burns took over the program is a trend in the right direction. Here are their results since Coach Burn took over. 2013-14 - 8-20 2014-15 - 11-16 2015-16 - 11-18 2016-17 - 20-9 Finished as the 2 seed. Lost to Anderson County in the first round led by Coach Drury and Cobe Penny. Anderson went on to lose in the Regional Final to Collins. 2017-18 - 20-8 Finished as the 2 seed and once again lost to A.C. Anderson went on to lose to South Oldham in the Region Semis. 2018-19 - 21-12 Beat Anderson and then lost to Collins in the District Final. Won their first round game in the Regions. 2019-20 - 21-8 Finished as the 2 seed. Lost to Woodford in the first round. 2020-21 - 17-7 Finished as the 2 seed. Lost to Collins in the first round. Collins went on to lose in the Region Semis. 2021-22 - 19-10 Finished as the 3 seed. Lost to Eventual Region Runner Up Woodford Co. in the first round. 2022-23 - 21-8 Finished as the 1 seed. Lost by 2 to #17 ranked Collins in the first round. ('m guessing they may make nice run in next weeks Regional tournament). All this to say that I'm sure that they would have liked to have won a couple more of those games, and probably should have. And yes, they may have been favored in several of them, but heavily? I don't see it. What I see is a program trending towards the right direction that is in a strong district with a history of really good coaches and players. I will agree that they need to take the next step, but let's not act like it's an easy task and there aren't other really good teams and coaches in the district. There other plenty of other teams in this state every year that have successful years and don't get out of their district.
  17. Very solid win, especially without their leading scorer playing.
  18. After watching it a couple of times, I saw the same thing. And it was right in front of the official. Still don't like the call so much, a warning at that point would have been more warranted.
  19. They looked every bit of the preseason number one team in the region last night. We shall see, their next game will be a much bigger test.
  20. Another well done preview. After reading these, I feel like I could go anywhere in the region and know exactly what was going on. Can't wait for this season to finally get going!
  21. With the tournament starting this Friday, who are some of the teams and players that we need to watch out for?
