St. Matthews Boy Posted May 9 Posted May 9 It's never soon to talk basketball in the Bluegrass. As we get ready to head into summer/AAU season, who do we think as possible candidates for MR. Basketball next season? Any list has to start with.... Braxton Keathley - Martin County - 33.1 ppg Matthew Langhi - Marshall County - 28.5 ppg Some other guys I like and think could make some noise in the race are... Jack Logsdon - Grayson County - 19.8 Tommy Gregg - North Oldham - 14.7 ppg Montez Gay - GRC - 16.8 ppg 1
Mahogany21 Posted May 9 Posted May 9 Montez Gay is a top tier candidate in my opinion. Winning matters. Sacrificing numbers to play on a great team should be taken into consideration. I think Langhi has a good case as well. Keathley kid needs to exhibit some ability to play defense. 2

Gay may have to step up to be the best player on his team.

SCaesar01 Posted May 11 Posted May 11 This class is stronger than it's getting credit for. And I would agree, winning has to count for something.
Herbie22 Posted May 11 Posted May 11 I think this 2027 class is an extremely strong one I will add a few more names to the list. All of these guys will be D1 level players, if history is any indicator you have to commit at that level to win the award. The last player to win the award and not commit to a D1 would have been Brandon Davenport, from Owensboro in 1997. Armani Bryd - Warren Central Ja'Rye Brown - WEB DuBois Tyce Jarvis - Montgomery County LJ Holman - Great Crossing 1

He committed to UC after being named Mr. Basketball. I don't think being committed has any bearing on the award. Do you believe if Moreno hadn't been committed to UK he would not have won the award?
