I don't know if size (length-wise) matters that much in KY high school bball. If you have decent size and girth to rebound, then I think you can go far. No one really utilizes or knows how to utilize size on the offensive end anyway. Give me about two 6'4 to 6'5 tight ends and linebackers and a few scoring bball players and I think you will do fine in KY high school bball.

I didn't see the game but Danny Butt is a viable option to score. I did watch them this summer and his foot was still bothering him so I don't know how much better his foot has gotten. It's obvious that everything runs through Fitz though

I agree...just too early for some of them to have played the type of competition to know how good you are at this point. A lot of the holiday and xmas tourneys will give us a better snapshot.

I've seen UHA, and they are not impressive at all. Tandy and a couple of good pieces. Johnson and Cager are elite as well; with a better supporting cast than Tandy in my opinion. My point was if Hoptown stayed within 8 points of UHA without Cager and Johnson....logically one could conclude that with Cager and Johnson, Hoptown could make up that difference and then some. Cager and Johnson are battle tested players and probably within the top 20 players within the state. To marginalize and minimize their presence I think is a little bias or short sighted.

Soooo are you saying after UHA beats Hoptown by 7 without Johnson and Cager; that if they return you still don't think Hoptown can beat UHA? I thought that's what you were saying earlier.

UHA won by 7 or 8 points....to say Johnson wouldn't have made a difference might be a little short-sighted. With him and Cager I think they beat UHA. It's not about stopping Tandy, UHA doesn't play any defense.

I don't think so. Harmon is a different kind of cat....special is the word to be used. I don't think John's tempo will affect him at all. Hopefully the Dawgs can limit the other players.

I don't think LaRue will be a good matchup with John. John will speed you up and that kind of plays into Larue's weakness if you will. I think Etown and John are the top 2 teams as of right now; which means absolutely nothing in the big scheme. Etown travels to Adair Saturday so we'll see if they are for real. Although rumor has it that it's hard to keep Adair off the free throw line in their home building.

Good point; Matthews fills it well also. I do think if Witherspoon comes back that he adds an element of physicality that just can't be coached.

It is a weird problem but make no mistake it is a problem and not a good one to have. The world of AAU and limited scholarships for our KY kids makes this a huge issue. I've seen it too many times. For high school teams you have to have defined roles and kids have to be able to accept those roles in order for the team to function well. The problem for high school coaches is that parents, AAU Coaches, etc will have their own agenda for the kid. It takes a very strong high school coach to navigate this. In the end, one of those scorers are gonna have to accept a lesser role and do some of the small things that it takes to win games. Talent is there but time will tell. And this is not just isolated to GRC
