Not surprised by this score, the 10-0 loss was clearly an anomaly. Brossart has been impressive at times, congrats on the win. They have really good coaching and players that know their roles. The 37th district is going to be one of the most competitive and exciting district tournaments in NKY this season. That first round game between Campbell Co and Calvary should be a good one with a lot on the line.

Pretty sure this thread is about sleeper teams that may make an impact in their district/region, not any team making such impact? Of the 7 teams mention in post #2, Cooper may be the only one on my sleeper team list. Either way it might be helpful to separate all teams into their respected regions. In NKY we have teams in the 8th, 9th, and 10th regions.

Coaches (and ADs) can defend themselves, but I would not jump to any conclusions as to why most of them did not vote. And does it really matter? Similar to end of the season awards which I understand are voted on by the coaches, each year are dictated a bit by favoritism, reputation (some are warranted, others not so much) and come down to more of a years of service awards then anything else.

Entertaining game, thought CCH dominated the first half, couple of really good chances, one off the crossbar that came almost straight down. HHS plays very direct/straightline. CCH starting Cback(with good speed) out injured which can be a problem against a direct style opponent but the 4 backs step up nicely. CCH goal was off well timed pass and a very nice finish. CCH bit flat to start the second half but found themselves 8-10 minutes in and finished the game off strong.

I'm shocked by this score if for no other reason it was against Brossart. IMO in almost every 10-0 game the score is in part due to the loosing team giving up at some point, (or/and the loosing team going deep, deep into the bench at some point) This is not a slight at any team that has lost by this score, more out of respect for the Brossart coach, his teams are some of the last I would expect to give up.

Agree the 9th region is tight and it has been for yrs. Last yr HHS and Ryle both beat CCH during the regular season. In 2015 Ryle and CCH tied, CCH beat HHS 2-1. Both of these yrs CCH won the 9th. In 2014 St Henry won the 9th and were beat by CCH and Ryle and beat HHS 1-0. 2013 HHS wins the 9th and they lost to all 3 during the regular season.

CCH comes back with 2 unanswered goals in the second half to get the win. Well played game by two quality teams, fair result. CCH freshmam win 1-0, JV tie 1-1. Tuesday's game Vs HHS has the makings of a very good game. Hopefully the stands will be full on both sides of the field in Park Hills.

The length of the grass on the St Henry soccer field has been a "12 player" of theirs for years. They are currently 1-0-2 on the road and 4-0-0 in four straight home games, the biggest one being the 2-1 win over Highlands. Upcoming away games Vs Brossart, (I assume at Pendery but the grass down there is typically inches shorter then they maintain at home) Ryle, and Simon Kenton will be interesting.

Is Dixie much improved and over the past couple of seasons or St Henry off? Dixie looses to NCC 6-2 but plays with Ryle 0-2 and St Henry...maybe combination of both?

Giving up 3 to HC? Upcoming games, Vs Dixie which just gave St Henry everything they wanted then Campbell Co, Brossart and St Henry, not murders row by any stretch but cleary CC toughest stretch in their otherwise very easy schedule will give a clearer indication if they can contend for the 10th region title.

Spot on! Good sophomores that play JV play for good programs. I'm sure opinions of the opposite view will follow but boys teams that have freshman and/or multiple sophomores getting quality minutes on their varsity team is due to a lack of depth in that program. And if you can't "crack" the top 14-15 on varsity you should play JV IMO.

I disagree. The old way of calling offsides, the AR would raise his flag at the point (on the field) the offensive player was in the offsides position at the exact point one of his teammates played the ball. The center ref would allow the play to continue to see if the offensive player in the offsides position became or would obviously become involved in the play. All the while the AR would hold his position and if the offsides was called the restart was at the point of the AR. The offensive player in the offsides position did NOT have to touch the ball for the play to be ruled offsides. I'm not a ref but it has become very apparent the new rule the offensive player in the offsides position must now touch the ball before offsides is ruled. And the restart is now at the point this player touches the ball. Which in many cases is 20-30 yards past where he was in the offsides position when his teammate played the ball. There is also the issue, (I know this is a big issue with collegiate players where subbing is limited), the offensive must now run after the ball, maybe 20-30 yards or more even though it is very, very obvious the play will be called offsides once he touches the ball. This can happen 5-6 or many more times in a game, resulting in a lot of wasted energy. The risk of injury, why require the players to continue playing when it's obvious the play will be whistled for offsides? And what about this one. If the new offsides call requires the offensive player in the offsides position to actually touch the ball, is the offensive player in the offsides position that does not touch the ball but yet "distracts" or occupies the keeper still ruled offsides? If so it makes the new ruling confusing, in some situations the offensive player in the offsides position must touch the ball before being ruled offsides, but in other cases, (distracting the keeper) he is not required to touch the ball before be ruled offsides.

I would suggest you not attend most regional games then. This becomes more of a tactical tool come October. I wish I had an answer to change this but there is not one. For all the great things soccer is, rules are not one of their strong areas. Not to change the discussion but the new offsides rule in so bad it's ridiculous. When an offensive player is in an obvious offside position and is obviously going to become involved in the play to wait for this offsides player to actually touch the ball before the AR signals offsides is horrible.

IMO early season results not always telling of how good a team will be come October. One team playing a set lineup vs their opponent mixing things up, giving subs opportunities to prove themselves, and injuires to key players effects early season results. The ECentral results mentioned are a perfect example. One thing for certain, when dealing with 16-17 yr olds, comparing teams based on common opponent results make for good conversation but in reality they tell little about how the two teams will do against one another. One example of this took place last season. Collegiate beat NCC 8-0. CCH beats NCC 2-0. Leading up to the Collegiate/CCH game some used these results to say CCH had no chance Vs Collegiate, CCH beats them 2-0.

Summit scores a quick goal around the 2 minute mark and then the second via pk near the end of the first half. Summit is very good, CCH played better. Both teams struggled to connect in the final 3rd. This is the type game that makes you better, provides both staffs with valuable information.

SK has a nice team, can they compete with the Oldhams for the 8th region title? CCH had chances to put this game away but in the end they allow SK to tie it up on a goal deflected into the top corner and the equalizer was after a strange CCH kickoff, CCH player touches the ball then passes it??? (double touch). SK quick restart catches CCH sleeping a bit. CCH midfield play continues to struggle and again a number of chances in close are struck directly at the keeper. Players need to step up for CCH, this is a good time to seize the opportunity while starters are out injured. Colonels have to many players making the game way harder then it is, play simple by playing the way you are facing, touch, pass and move. Very tough Summit @ Summit on Saturday evening, will be interesting to see how they respond after letting a W get away at SK.

To be fair to the CCH defense, the goal they gave up (and lone goal to S Oldham in a scrimmage) was after they subbed 10 field players at the same time. Very very difficult, at any level to bring in 10 fresh field players at the exact same time into a game 20 some minutes in and against the opponents first team that is well into the flow and intensity of the game. Becoming apparent CCH is missing their injured starters (every HS team does), 4 IMO and changes are needed, midfield is struggling to connect the back line with the strikers.

Soccer players also kicking for their school's football team seems to be coming common place the past few yrs. CCH had in 2015 and also this year. A current freshman/soccer player kicked last night. Have known and heard of many more.

Heard around 3600 to 3800. Both set of bleachers now hold 2750 and they were full, assume over another 1000 standing.
