Week1 Recap

Featured Replies

3 - 0. One game was much weaker district team but other two were expected to be closer. 16 Goals scored vs 1 allowed. And that goal was on out freshman keeper getting experience minutes. Hope we can keep it up next week.

Highlands with a 3-0 opening night win over Holy Cross and weathered out of the Thursday matchup at Beechwood.

This week they play Holmes, at Oldham County, and host Lafayette.

Thursday and Saturday are going to tell a lot about the Birds. Really wasn't much you could tell from the Holy Cross game as they really didn't challenge in attack.

Blue Colonels went 2 and 1 in the Colonel Cup. With a 4 to 0 win over St. Henry, a 1-0 loss to East Central (IN) on a handball in the box and a win Saturday vs Ballard in PK's. This team has not found its grove and is struggling putting the ball in the net. A positive is the defense has been consistent so far with only one goal allowed in these three constests.

To be fair to the CCH defense, the goal they gave up (and lone goal to S Oldham in a scrimmage) was after they subbed 10 field players at the same time. Very very difficult, at any level to bring in 10 fresh field players at the exact same time into a game 20 some minutes in and against the opponents first team that is well into the flow and intensity of the game.

Becoming apparent CCH is missing their injured starters (every HS team does),

4 IMO and changes are needed, midfield is struggling to connect the back line with the strikers.

Williamstown picked up the program's first JV win on Thursday, beating Carroll County 5-0. Varsity team starts play next season.
