  1. Agree, Johnson is a nice player, very quick, plays under control and has a nice jump shot, the type of player that holds your attention. But his lack of impact in the second half had way more to do with how CCH defended him then him rolling his ankle. As for the Crazies heckling the opponent when they have an inbound pass right in from of that group, funny stuff and all in good spirit. Not sure which Lex Cath player it was but during one inbound play this Lex Cath player was smiling (almost laughing) while taking the inbound pass, great to see the young man enjoying the moment.
  2. KHA Red 2000 (BU-17) go 2-1-0 in winning their bracket. They played 3 state cup champions, loosing 2-1 to TN, beat TX 2-1, and beat AL, who is also a region 3 semi finalist 4-2 on Sunday. They travel to Orlando next month to play in the Disney Showcase. The team consists of current juniors and sophomores and is coached by Eric Rothwell. Chris Workman, Turpin Dominic Russo, CCH Nico Ross, St Henry Brayden Rike, Centerville Ryan Lienhart, Maderia Aiden Jordan, Ryle Nick Rumisek, AOA Academy Logan Muck, NCC Gabe Smallwood, Campbell Co Dylan Schraffenberg, La Salle Jacob Benintendi, Turpin Luke Lockard, Calvary Christian Josh Bisbee, St Henry Nick Bach, St X El Hadji Faye, Withrow Zach Combs, Holy Cross
  3. Not only were none of these 5 starters, Vogt played outside mid last season and the other four, all current juniors, Cody, Dietz, Russo, and Seibert were busy going undefeated and winning the NKY Boys JV Regional Tournament...none of the current CCH juniors or sophomores were even on the varsity squad last season. Clearly not a knock on them, (proven by this year's success) all or most of them would have started for any other varsity team last year. Simple case of a numbers game, 18 seniors, 9-10 of them starters last season. Very, very few programs with this kind of depth, talent, and great coaching to bring it all together. Congratulations on another total team win CCH. As Daniel Karell wrote, "comprehensive 3-0 victory". Congratulations to North Hardin on a great season, hold your heads high, no doubt your school and families are very proud, all class last night boys! The road to a repeat just got a lot shorter CCH, one more win, defense strong! Good luck on Saturday.
  4. The game will be streamed online; Covington Catholic High School If the first semi final games goes into OT/PKs the CCH Vs N Hardin broadcast will be delayed but will be covered live.
  5. OK and even being completely sober (well partly), I'm still confused. I think I may have summed this up in post #4.
  6. This may or may not answer this question. I picked these three teams for no other reason then I know they made it far into their regional tournament and are no longer playing. The Maher rankings on Ocotber 22. Trinity #3 Ryle #12 Highlands #14 Trinity gets knocked out on October 19 Ryle gets knocked out on October 22 Hiighlands gets knocked out on October 20 The Maher rankings on October 29. Trinity #4 Ryle #11 Highlands #16 Trinity while no longer playing drops one spot, Ryle while no longer playing climbs one spot, and Highlands while no longer playing drops two spots.
  7. Simon Kenton 8th region, Scott 10th region, Dixie Heights 9th region. Simon Kenton to Scott, 12 miles Simon Kenton to Dixie HS, 16 miles Scott to Dixie HS, 10 miles.
  8. I may be wrong but I thought every teams' ranking is subject to be effected until the very last game is played on Nov 5th, even the teams not still playing. Meaning if your team is knocked out but you played a team at some point during the season that is still in the state tournament and that team's ranking (one of your opponents) improves doesn't that effect your ranking, it could cause your team to go up in the rankings? Please correct me if I'm wrong.
  9. How nice would that be for the 7th region? Moving #6 St X, #8 Dupont Manual, and # 51 Male out of the 7th region and bringing in #71 Fern Creek, #75 Southern, and #174 Jeffersontown (assume they are referred to as J-town?) Can you negotiate a new alignment for the 9th region while you are at it? And speaking "geographically" the one I have never quite figured out is Simon Kenton. On a good day Simon Kenton is about 70 miles or more from their 8th region opponents. On a bad day Simon Kenton is at most 20 miles from any region 9 opponent.
  10. I completely agree with you UKlover123. A ton of teams, especially the ones winning a regional title use the first half of the season or more to really explore things with regard to their roster. Who can I count on under pressure, who works best with who, etc, etc. So many times a regional winner will be willing to take a tie or loss during the regular season to be at their best come tournament time. Putting a higher value on every regional game and state tournament games makes a ton of sense to me.
  11. And "Mr Maher" will be second happiest (group) person in the state.
  12. No worries, at this point in the season, MEANINGLESS.
  13. Congratulations CCH on a terrific win! CCH was clearly the better team in this one. It was obvious from the start the CCH coaching staff had their players well prepared, they put in a great tactical plan and the players executed it to perfection, a TOTAL team win. My guess is Collegiate had 65+% of possession but 85+% of that was 35 yards or more away from the goal. CCH didn't chase, they didn't allow Collegiate to get in behind them in the box, just outstanding soccer by the boys from Park Hills. On the first goal (header off a corner kick, Russo to Wulfeck) it looked like Collegiate did not put a man on the far post, huge tactical error. Wulfeck places the ball perfectly past the out stretched keeper but just inside the far post, outstanding goal, all class. CCH weathers a couple of dangerous chances by Collegiate. Cody makes a good save by coming off his line to cover up a ball on the post in the first half and CBack Dietz for CCH uses great speed, athleticism and determination which likely saved a goal by sliding in front of the Collegiate striker to block his shot from close range. Lamb goes Lamb in the final minutes to beat four Collegiate defenders and very calmly places the nail in coffin, CCH second goal in the back of the net. Only one team puts up the clean sheet on Collegiate this year, defense strong! Collegiate has some really good players, congratulations on a great season and good luck to their seniors. CCH this game is now in the past, prepare and ONLY focus on North Hardin on Thursday. The road to the repeat just got shorter, two more, good luck.
  14. Heard this was a 2-1 final, Anderson winning in OT, no other details. Must have been one exciting game. Since this is the Covington Catholic 3 Anderson (OH) 1 thread worth mentioning CCH tied Elder 0-0 on their crappy field (sorry but no term better describes the Elder field) and beat Anderson 3-1 on Anderson's turf. Some thought other wise but these two are obviously two good D-1 OH teams this season. Good luck to Anderson in the OH D-1 sweet 16.
  15. Great to see the press give high soccer some coverage, enjoyed reading these two articles. Exciting game to watch, only wish a bigger crowd could have come out. Maybe the cost of admission played a factor, shame khsaa has to charge $10 a ticket at a venue I would guess they have very very little expensives. Factor in attending the NDA/ WJessamine game the night before and the students and fans need to come up with $20 just to support their friends and classmates, ridiculous IMO. CCH is on a roll, clearly the better team last night in all aspects of the game. I heard a lot about the Mercer Co midfield, how their team can score a lot of goals, etc. I thought Schutt was the MAN of the match, dominated the midfield in leading his team to a big win. Lamb, Stava, Deimling a formidable attacking 3 and those five, (six) in the back, Vogt, Dietz, Russo, Seibert, Cody, (Ventre) are defense strong! Not to leave anyone out because every player that stepped on the field last night for CCH did their job, great team win. Congratulations to Mercer Co on a very good, record setting season. Congratulations to CCH on advancing to the qt finals and good luck on Saturday, 3 more wins!
  16. #6 CCH will host #7 Mercer Co at Dixie Heights High School in Edgewood, KY, kickoff at 7:00PM. I believe on another thread this game was listed as a 7:30PM kickoff, but it will be a 7:00PM kickoff. The game will be broadcast at: National High School Broadcast Network
  17. I thought both teams played well and a very fair result. What a goal, Schutt to Stava to the back of the net, perfect! Great tournament CCH, back to back 9th Region titles, one heck of an accomplishment, congratulations. The current seniors and juniors have never lost a regional HS game, freshman, JV, and varsity. Congratulations to Ryle on a good season and to good luck to their seniors. CCH plays Mercer Co on Tuesday, 7:30PM @ Dixie HS.
  18. Anyone not able to attend the 9th Region final tomorrow in person you can listen to the game live on the Internet. If listening on a mobile device click Switch To Mobile View on the top left corner and select your device type. National High School Broadcast Network
  19. Horrible weather conditions to play soccer in, both teams struggled for long periods of the game. The same was true for the second half of the Ryle/HHS game, ugly. In conditions like this you just do the best you can. I thought CCH settled in and found some energy after their first goal. Stegman buries a header off a second ball from a corner kick to put CCH up 1-0. CCH's second goal (in the second half) was the play of the game, just great soccer. Russo nutmegs a St Henry player then plays a perfect ball out in front of Lamb who takes it wide left pulling the St Henry defender and keeper with him then makes a great pass to the feet of Cole Stava who puts it in the back of the net for his 14th goal of the season, Lamb's 15th assist. These are the type of plays that win games for you, especially in this sort of weather conditions. Sanders gets St Henry on the board with under 3 minutes left in the game. And the rematch from 2015 is on. Congratulations to St Henry on a good year and good luck to their seniors. Nice call MTGL!
  20. Very well said! One of those rare players that causes you to sit up and watch every time he touched the ball. EU is getting a great player.
  21. Not one of CCH's better efforts on the season, but from my view the game was very one sided. CCH had ton of chances and NCC had one decent look off a free kick that went high, Cody did not even have to make a play on it. We heard all about how NCC was a tough out, had given CCH trouble in regionals since 2011 to whatever, not in 2016. Congrats to CCH on the win and NCC will be back, sounds like they started a lot of juniors last night.
  22. Wijnaldum out (hurt playing with Netherlands NT) is a big blow. Hearing either Milner to midfielder/Moreno to OSBack or Lucas to midfielder to fill in. Either change could mean a disaster for LFC. Maybe put Grujic' in the starting 11. Will we see Karius or Mignolet in goal? Will Sturridge get the start? Mane' is the MAN. Can't wait!
  23. MASSIVE, MASSIVE game today! Can Liverpool continue their dominate play and go top of the league table?
  24. I was told the fans will get the word around 10AM.
