  1. Those kids wouldn't go to Scott anyway.
  2. What does SK have to do with the struggles at Scott?
  3. No idea from me. That's just what was relayed to me. Probably 7th or 8th hand. I was just asking a question not making a statement.
  4. Rumor has it that the bluebirds are in for a QB change if the beating by SC is bad enough. Has anybody heard that? Is there any truth to it?
  5. There are a lot of good coaches in that program who are highly thought of in the NKY High School football community. I am not affiliated with the program but know quite a few of those guys. If one bad apple was ruining the bunch then it is probably a good thing that the apple is gone. There is enough football knowledge up there at Scott. They will be just fine. They may not be as good as last year but they will be better off down the road.
  6. The top 3 in 2A in Northern Kentucky look to be pretty tough this year.
  7. My point was that the birds have a great program but that baseball is a sport where anything can happen on any day. I guess you're right however. Good luck to the baby birds vs. whoever they get next.
  8. I can comment for him. The Highlands freshman team was just better than the Pioneers today. Much to your all's surprise it happens. The Pioneers JV has beaten the birds twice this year 14-8 and 12-0. The Pioneers JV team was better than the JV birds on those days. The Pioneers Varsity also beat the birds varsity 9-2 (I believe). The Pioneers Varsity was better than the birds varsity on that day. That is what makes baseball a great game. One day you're on and the next you could be off. One particular fan doesn't speak for a whole group. I'm not even an SK fan but a friend of mine has a son in SK's program. Don't lump them in with one particular nut job.
  9. Brayden Combs gets my vote. Don't know about the others much but Combs is the most humble kid you'll ever meet with the talent to boot. Also definitely one of the hardest workers you'll ever see. The kid works nonstop to perfect his craft.
  10. Nobody stops Combs and Stringer. Beechwood. Don't rule out CovCath though. Ryle folds. Highlands doesn't stand a chance.
  11. Retraction on the previous thread. Watched this game to see what CovCath would do to Beechwood and was overwhelmingly impressed with Wilder and Trusty. Johnson looks good too. Put them together with Castleman and Odom when they are all Juniors and Seniors and this team will be deadly if they keep getting better. I would throw this group up at the top of the list in region without a doubt.
  12. Different players defensively but, at the plate, yes. Kid is a pure hitter and hits a ton at that.
  13. Don't know who you are but obviously you're a Beechwood guy. I wasn't saying anything bad about Clyde or calling him out. Just really surprised he doesn't know who Schwalbach is. He has a huge bat and a slick glove. It was just sarcasm. Sorry if I offended you Clyde.
  14. Forgot about Hunter Gribble from Holmes. Bats leadoff. The kid is lightning fast and has a slick glove at SS. I'm talking amazing speed.
  15. SK has 3 of the best right now in Bailey Martin, Barayden Trattles, and Brennan Baker. All 3 are starting pitchers and hit the cover off the ball.
  16. Cord - I will give you Odom and Castleman. The rest are middle of the road kids at best. Small school playing small competition.
  17. Clyde - If you don't know who Schwalbach is then you don't have a clue about the young kids in high school ball in NKY. He is the best player in HHS program besides their Senior pitcher.
  18. Brooks from CC is a baseball stud but this thread is about freshman. Brooks and Gangwish play for the same At The Yard summer ball team. Talk about a deadly duo. Gangwish is undefeated on the hill for the SK JV and throws low 80's with a nasty slider and change up. Another good freshman is Farfsing playing SS for the JV Pioneers. Gangwish and Farfsing won't get the props though for 2 reasons. 1. They don't play for Beechwood, Highlands, or CovCath and the BGP site belongs to those schools. 2. Everybody hates UK #1 so if kids go to SK then most BGPers discount those Pioneer players. Come out and watch Gangwish pitch or Farfsing play SS. You BGPers will see 2 of the best freshman in NKY.
  19. Not going to be a good game at all. SK has no business playing 2A teams. They upgraded their schedule last year from the previous years but they really need to open up like Trinity, St. X, or Male do to start competing at that level. I am an SK supporter but even I see that.
  20. In regards to Coach Marksberry at Simon Kenton, he inherited a program back in about 2000 that had not had a winning season in who knows how long, at least 25 years, and turned them into a strong (Northern Kentucky) competitive team that wins 9-12 games every season. 2 regional titles but haven't gotten over the hump yet for a state title. He also has 5-8 players every year that play at the next level at some level and his players are good kids and stay out of trouble. Sounds like accomplishments to me especially from where the program was before he got there.
  21. No matter who they play, I hope NCC takes a beating in the first round. Cheering for whoever they play against.
